Velachery

Velachery taluk is a taluk of the city district of Chennai in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It was formed in December 2013 from parts of the erstwhile Mambalam-Guindy and Mylapore-Triplicane taluks. It comprises the neighbourhoods of Besant Nagar, Tharamani, Thiruvanmiyur and Velachery.

Dayanand Anglo-Vedic Public School or D.A.V. The Westin Chennai Velachery is a 10-storied five-star hotel in Chennai, India. Located on Velachery Main Road in Velachery, a southern suburb of Chennai, it is the sixth Westin hotel in India.

Chemplast Cricket Ground or Indian Institute of Technology Chemplast Ground is a cricket ground in the IIT Madras campus. The ground is an important cricket venue and is described by cricketer Sachin Tendulkar as the most scenic in the country. It is set amongst greenery. The ground has hosted eight Women's cricket ODI. The first match record at ground was in 2003 India Women's and New Zealand Women's.

Velachery aeri (Tamil: வேளச்சேரி ஏரி), or Velachery lake, is one of the lakes inside Chennai, in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, with a good stock of water all through the year. Since Velachery is a low-lying area, the monsoon rain water from the neighbouring areas are drained into this lake. The ambitious programme of the corporation was conceived three years ago. The local body had even engaged a consultant, shortlisted by experts from Anna University, Public Works Department and the agriculture department. The consultant gave a detailed plan in October last on how to beautify the lake. This included removal of encroachments in Gandhi Nagar and Ambedkar Nagar, fencing of the entire waterbody, provision of three decks for walking, viewing and fishing and a boating jetty. The consultant also suggested plantation of African grass, reed and bamboo along the middle deck and flowering plants and trees like bottlebrush, bougainvillea, royal palms and areca nut betel palms along the upper deck. The rapid pace of real estate development in the last two decades resulted in the shrinking of the waterbody from 265 acres to 55 acres now. The government allocated 53 acres to the Tamil Nadu Housing Board and 34 acres to the Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board for housing development. Local residents have expressed concerns that the encroachers on Erikkarai Street in Gandhi Nagar, who don't have sewage connections, are contributing to the pollution of the lake.

Phoenix Marketcity is a shopping mall developed by Phoenix Mills Limited located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It was opened in January 2013 and is the 2nd largest mall in the city. It was the fourth largest mall in India in 2018. It has a built up area of 1,500,000 square feet and leasable retail area of 1,000,000 square feet. Also there is a Palladium mall situated right next to it.

Puzhuthivakkam, commonly known as Ullagaram or Ullagaram–Puzhuthivakkam, is a southern neighbourhood of Chennai in Tamil Nadu, India. Puzhuthivakkam loosely translates to dust neighborhood. The neighbourhood is part of the Greater Chennai Corporation, following Chennai's expansion into Kanchipuram district. Puzhuthivakkam is located between the neighborhoods of Madipakkam, Adambakkam, Velachery, Pallikaranai, and Nanganallur. Puzhuthivakkam was initially developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Upon completion of the MRTS extension line, the neighborhood will be served by Puzhuthivakkam railway station. As of 2011, the town had a population of 53,322.

DAV School is a Central Board of Secondary Education-affiliated school in Adambakkam, Chennai, India. The school's motto is "Asato Maa Sadgamaya".The school is located in Nilamangai Nagar, Adambakkam. It has branches in Meenambakkam and Kancheepuram. The Center for Computational Brain Research (CCBR) is an Interdisciplinarity research centre located at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Chennai, India. CCBR was set up in 2015 with funding from Infosys co-founder Kris Gopalakrishnan. The stated objective of the center is "to explore the interface between Neuroscience and Engineering disciplines".

Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) is a public technical university located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. As one of the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), it is recognized as an Institute of National Importance and has been consistently rated as one of India's most prestigious universities. Founded in 1959 with technical and financial assistance from the former government of West Germany, it was the third IIT established by the Government of India. IIT Madras is ranked the top engineering institute in India by the Ministry of Education's National Institutional Ranking Framework since its inception in 2016.IIT Madras is a residential institute that occupies a 2.5-square-kilometre (0.97 sq mi) campus that was formerly part of the adjoining Guindy National Park. The institute has nearly 600 faculty, 10,000 students and 1,250 administrative and supporting staff. Growing ever since it obtained its charter from the Indian Parliament in 1961, much of the campus is a protected forest, carved out of the Guindy National Park, home to large numbers of chital (spotted deer), black buck, bonnet macaque, and other rare wildlife. A natural lake, deepened in 1988 and 2003, drains most of its rainwater.

St. Mary's College of Engineering and Technology (SMCET) is a technical institute located in Hyderabad, India. Located in Deshmukhi Village and 8.6 KM from Ramoji Film City Entrance. In 2010 the All India Council for Technical Education approved collaboration between the St. Mary's College and Marist College to allow students in India to earn a US-recognized MS degree. The college applied for "deemed university" status in 2009 but this status was abolished.
