Achern

Achern station is the largest and most important of the four stations in the town of Achern in the German state of Baden-Württemberg. It is located at kilometre 125.3 of the Rhine Valley Railway (Rheintalbahn), which connects Mannheim and Basel and is the starting point of the Acher Valley Railway (Achertalbahn), which runs to Ottenhöfen. The station has four platforms and it is classified by Deutsche Bahn (DB) as a category 4 station. It has also been the terminus of lines S32 and S4 of the Karlsruhe Stadtbahn since December 2004.

The population of Großweier is approximately 1,500 inhabitants. Großweier was an autonomous rural municipality since the High Middle Ages. In 1973, Großweier was incorporated as an urban subdivision of Achern in the Ortenaukreis district.

Önsbach is the second-largest district ("Stadtteil") of the major district town ("Kreisstadt") of Achern in the north of Ortenaukreis, located in the Black Forest. Önsbach is located in northern Ortenau, south of the town of Achern. A third of the village lies in the Rhine valley and two thirds, in the western foothills of the Black Forest. Önsbach is located along Bundesstraße 3 (B 3).

It is located at the western hillslope of the Black Forest in the valley Achertal. It is about 20 kilometres to the north of Offenburg and about 20 kilometres to the south of Baden-Baden. In clear weather, the city of Strasbourg in France can be seen which is roughly 25 kilometres to the west of Kappelrodeck.
