Preston Gubbals

St Martin's Church is a redundant Anglican church in the village of Preston Gubbals, Shropshire, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II* listed building, and is under the care of the Churches Conservation Trust.

Albrighton is a small village in the civil parish of Pimhill, in Shropshire, England. It is situated on the A528 Shrewsbury-Ellesmere road and is roughly 4.0 miles (6.4 km) north of Shrewsbury. After a history of being its own parish, it currently lies in the parish of Pimhill. According to the United Kingdom Census 2001, the parish population of Pimhill was 2008, with the number of these habiting in Albrighton being 273. It is first mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, as Etbritone ("Ēadbeorht’s settlement"). Albright Hussey was once part of the same manor, and indeed shared the same name originally.

Albrighton Hall near Shrewsbury, Shropshire, is a house which is Grade II* listed on the National Heritage List for England. It was built in 1630 for the Ireland family and remained in this family for the next five generations until 1804. It was then the home of several notable people until 1953. In the 1990s it was converted into a hotel.

Pimhill is a geographically large civil parish in Shropshire, England, to the north of Shrewsbury. It is named after a hill, which rises to 163 m, sometimes spelt Pim Hill. In recent times the parish is more well known as "Bomere Heath and District". As well as the large village of Bomere Heath, the small villages of Albrighton, Fitz, Leaton, Merrington and Preston Gubbals, as well as the hamlets of Crossgreen, Dunnsheath, Forton Heath, Grafton, Mytton, Old Woods and Walford Heath, lie in the parish. The 2001 census recorded 2008 people living in the parish, in 853 households, the population increasing to 2,118 at the 2011 Census.Near Pim Hill is Lea Hall, a notable Elizabethan brick house and dovecote. The Battle of Shrewsbury (1403) was fought in the eastern part of the parish, near the present settlement of Battlefield, though much of the battlefield now lies in the parish of Shrewsbury.The River Severn forms the parish boundary to the south, whilst the River Perry flows through the south-western area of the parish. The parish has numerous woodlands and coppices, making it quite a wooded area overall. On the hill itself is a stone carving of a naked woman which has been dubbed by some as the "Rock Lady". Its origin is as yet unknown. Its earliest sighting on record is 1993 but it is thought to date much further back this.

Bomere Heath ( BOW-mə) is a village in Shropshire, England, which lies north of the county town of Shrewsbury and between Baschurch and Harlescott. It is situated between the A528 road and Berwick Road. The village has a primary school. It is the main village of the Pimhill parish. The parish is now known as "Bomere Heath and District". Nearby, to the north, is the small village of Merrington. The village has a few shops including a Co-op food store, a barber's shop, a post office, pub and a fish and chip restaurant.

Leaton railway station was a minor station located about six miles north of Shrewsbury on the GWR's Paddington to Birkenhead main line. Today this is part of the Shrewsbury to Chester line. It was at the top of the long climb up Hencote bank out of Shrewsbury. The station opened on 12 October 1848 and closed on 12 September 1960. The station building (now a private house) can still be seen on the north side of the adjacent Leaton level crossing on the east side of the line. A small industrial estate now exists at the former railway sidings.

Harmer Hill is a village in Shropshire, England located on the A528 south of Wem and north of Shrewsbury. The name Harmer comes from the two words "hare" and "mere", as there was a lake situated in a plain below the hill, but it was drained in the 15th century for farm land. The village was home to two pubs, the Bridgewater Arms and the Red Castle; the Red Castle closed in 2018. There is a village hall and Presbyterian chapel with its own burial ground. Harmer Hill is said to be haunted, notably by a "White Lady". Queen Mary's brother, the Marquess of Cambridge, lived at nearby Shotton Hall from after World War I until his death in 1927.Helen Morgan, Liberal Democrat MP, lives in Harmer Hill, which is in her North Shropshire constituency.

Dunnsheath is a hamlet in Shropshire, England. It is sometimes spelt as "Dunn's Heath".It is situated on the B5067, Shrewsbury to Baschurch road, in the parish of Pimhill. Just to the north is the small village of Leaton.

The A5124 is a road in Shropshire, England, that forms part of the northern section of the Shrewsbury by-pass. It is known locally as the Battlefield Link Road. It links the A528 (at Ellesmere Road Roundabout) with the A49 and A53 (at Battlefield Roundabout). The current road was built in 1998, though the A5124 had a former route along Harlescott Lane, further towards the town centre of Shrewsbury. However, this road was too narrow, had a railway crossing and passed through a residential area. It is now unclassified. The current road passes under the Welsh Marches Line ("Battlefield Bridge") and also forms the northern edge of the Battlefield Enterprise Park.

Battlefield Heritage Park is a country park situated north of Shrewsbury in Shropshire, in the area known as Battlefield. It marks the supposed site of the 1403 Battle of Shrewsbury fought between King Henry IV and English rebel nobleman Henry Percy.

Merrington is a small village in Shropshire, England. It is situated to the north of the larger village of Bomere Heath and lies in the parish of Pimhill. Nearby, to the west, is the hamlet of Old Woods.

St Mary Magdalene's Church is in the village of Battlefield, Shropshire, England, dedicated to Jesus' companion Mary Magdalene. It was built on the site of the 1403 Battle of Shrewsbury between Henry IV and Henry "Hotspur" Percy, and was originally intended as a chantry, a place of intercession and commemoration for those killed in the fighting. It is probably built over a mass burial pit. It was originally a collegiate church staffed by a small community of chaplains whose main duty was to perform a daily liturgy for the dead. Roger Ive, the local parish priest, is generally regarded as the founder, although the church received considerable support and endowment from Henry IV. After the dissolution of the college and chantry in 1548, the building was used as the local parish church and it underwent serious decay, punctuated by attempts at rebuilding from the mid-18th century. A restoration in Victorian times was controversial in intention, scope and detail, although many original features remain. Today it is a redundant Anglican church. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II* listed building, and is under the care of the Churches Conservation Trust.
