Rocky Neck State Park

The Thomas Lee House is a historic house at the junction of Giant's Neck Road and Connecticut Route 156 in the Niantic section of East Lyme, Connecticut, United States. Built about 1660, it is one of the oldest wood-frame houses in Connecticut. Restored in the early 20th century by Norman Isham, it is now maintained by the East Lyme Historical Society as a museum. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970.

Janet S. York Correctional Institution is Connecticut's only state prison for women, located in Niantic. The facility opened in its current form in October, 1994, and houses a maximum of 1500 at a range of security levels from minimum to super maximum.The site was first founded in 1918 as the Connecticut State Farm and Reformatory for Women. As of 1930, the facility had expanded, and was renamed the Niantic Correctional Institution. It composes of a minimum side and maximum side. Average age of women is 35.

North Brother Island is a small island in Long Island Sound, part of the town of East Lyme, Connecticut. Its coordinates are 41°17′34″N 72°14′41″W, just off the coast. Its companion, South Brother Island is also a part of the town of East Lyme. Its coordinates are 41 degrees, 17 minutes 22 seconds North and 72 degrees, 14 minutes, 22 seconds West.

The Pattagansett River is a river located in the town of East Lyme, Connecticut, near the village of Niantic. Fishing for bass is a popular activity.

The Samuel Smith House is a historic First Period house at 82 Plants Dam Road in East Lyme, Connecticut. With a construction history dating to about 1700, it is one of the oldest buildings in the community, exhibiting a pattern of architectural changes over the 18th century. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on June 4, 1979.

The William Gorton Farm, also known as the Bond Farm, is a historic farm complex at 14 West Lane in East Lyme, Connecticut. The site was continuously used for various agricultural pursuits from the late 17th to the early 20th centuries. The existing buildings date from the 18th century to the late 19th century, including a farmhouse, two barns, a blacksmith shop, and the remains of an icehouse and dock. The farm was added to the National Register of Historic Places on April 5, 1984.

The Children's Museum of Southeastern Connecticut is an interactive educational and cultural institution located in Niantic, Connecticut. Founded in 1992, the museum covers 5,000 square feet (460 m2) and is designed to encourage children to study arts, sciences, health, and various cultures.The museum features 3 major areas: The Discovery Room features a variety of science-based activities. The Imaginative Play area featuring imagination playground building blocks that encourage kids to build various structures using large foam building blocks. Also in this area is a new train exhibit featuring Dreamup Toys of East Lyme, CT. The Global Village with cultural exhibits allowing interactive play and a Toddler Area for the smallest of visitors. The Outdoor Playspaces feature a tree house, chimes, a whale drum, giant sand pit, water area, a performing stage and an authentic two-person research submarine.

East Lyme is a town in New London County, Connecticut, United States. The town is part of the Southeastern Connecticut Planning Region. The population was 18,693 at the 2020 census. The villages of Niantic and Flanders are located in the town.

McCook Point is a public park and beach located in the village of Niantic in the town of East Lyme. It adjoins the town's Hole in the Wall Beach to its east and the private Crescent Beach to its west. Combined, the two parks encompass 21 acres of land, the bulk of which is within the section known as McCook Point Park. The Smith–Harris House, listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the Thomas Avery House, is a 2+1⁄2-story clapboarded Greek Revival home on Society Road in East Lyme, Connecticut. It is believed that the farmhouse was built in 1845–1846 as a wedding gift for Thomas Avery and Elizabeth Griswold. It remained in the Avery family until 1877, when it was purchased by William H. Smith. By the 1890s, the farm was managed by Smith's younger brother, Herman W. Smith, and nephew, Frank A. Harris. In 1900, the two married Lula and Florence Munger, sisters, and both resided in the house. In 1955, the house was sold to the Town of East Lyme, and the sisters continued to live in the house until requiring a nursing home. The house was saved from demolition by citizens and restored. It opened on July 3, 1976, as a historic house museum, operated and maintained by the Smith–Harris House Commission and the Friends of Smith–Harris House. It is open from June through August and throughout the year by appointment. The Smith–Harris house was added to the National Historic Register of Places on August 22, 1979.

Niantic is a census-designated place (CDP) and village in the town of East Lyme, Connecticut in the United States. The population was 3,114 at the 2010 census. It is located on Long Island Sound, the Millstone Nuclear Power Plant in nearby Waterford is visible on the bay's eastern horizon line, Rocky Neck State Park is also located in the area. Niantic was once famous for its Niantic River scallops, but the scallop population has been in decline for a number of years.

The Morton Freeman Plant Hunting Lodge is the centerpiece of a hunting retreat at 56 Stone Ranch Road in East Lyme, Connecticut. It is a large two-story Bungalow style house, designed by Dudley St. Clair Donnelly and built in 1908 by financier Morton Freeman Plant, and is one of the only early 20th-century purpose-built hunting lodges in the state. It was the heart of a large 2,400-acre (970 ha) private game preserve that Plant stocked with game birds. The property, now reduced to 105 acres (42 ha), is surrounded by town conservation land and a state military reservation. The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on December 12, 1988.
