The Painshawfield, Batt House and Birches Nook Estate is a housing estate in the village of Stocksfield in Northumberland, England. It is commonly known as the Painshawfield Estate, being named after one of the three farms on whose land the Estate was built in the years following 1895.

West Mickley is a hamlet east of Stocksfield, in the southern part of Northumberland, England. Along with the neighbouring settlements of High Mickley and Mickley Square, it forms part of the electoral ward of Mickley, Northumberland. It is just over half a mile from the town of Prudhoe and is south of the River Tyne. It is not a big village, being nearly half a mile in length with a main road stretching the full length of it (A695). The small settlement of Mount Pleasant forms part of West Mickley. It has one of the few pubs in the area - the two-centuries-old Blue Bell Inn. On foot, Mount Pleasant is directly accessible from the main part of West Mickley via a steep but paved uphill path alongside High Close Woods and the Belasis Burn. When driving or cycling, however, one needs to take Stonybank Way, which goes uphill just east of the petrol station at Branch End in the neighbouring village of Stocksfield.

Stocksfield is a small commuter village situated close to the River Tyne, about 14 miles (23 km) west of Newcastle upon Tyne in the southern part of Northumberland, England. There are several smaller communities within the parish of Stocksfield, including Branch End, New Ridley, Broomley, Hindley and the Painshawfield Estate. Other villages in Stocksfield's postal district include Bywell, Newton, Mickley, and Hedley on the Hill.

Stocksfield, formerly Broomley and Stocksfield is a civil parish in Northumberland, England. At the 2001 census, the parish, which includes the village of Stocksfield, along with the hamlets of Apperley Dene, Branch End, Broomley, Hindley, New Ridley and Painshawfield, had a population of 3,039, falling slightly to 3,011 at the 2011 Census.On 11 January 2019 the name of the parish was officially changed to Stocksfield, to reflect developments in the area and changes in population over the years. On 1 April 1955 the parish was renamed from "Broomley" to "Broomley and Stocksfield".

Stocksfield is a railway station on the Tyne Valley Line, which runs between Newcastle and Carlisle via Hexham. The station, situated 14 miles 47 chains (14.6 mi; 23.5 km) west of Newcastle, serves the villages of Bywell, New Ridley and Stocksfield in Northumberland, England. It is owned by Network Rail and managed by Northern Trains.

The civil parish of Ovington lies in southern Northumberland, on the north bank of the River Tyne. It is one of the smallest parishes in the county.

Cherryburn is a cottage in Mickley, Northumberland, England. It was the birthplace of Thomas Bewick, an English wood engraver and ornithologist. The cottage, its adjacent farmhouse and large grounds, have been managed by the National Trust since 1991 when they took over responsibility for the site from the Bewick Birthplace Trust. Cherryburn is open to the public.

Bywell Bridge is a 19th-century stone bridge across the River Tyne. It is a Grade II listed building.

New Ridley is a hamlet in the county of Northumberland, England. It is in the parish of Stocksfield and the parliamentary constituency of Hexham. It is one of four "Ridleys" in the parish, along with Old Ridley, East Ridley and Ridley Mill.Services in New Ridley include Stocksfield Golf Club and the Dr. Syntax public house. The pub is named after a racehorse of the same name which was in turn named after a fictional character created by the writer William Combe.

Hedley on the Hill is a village in Northumberland, west of Newcastle upon Tyne. It is located between the valley of the River Derwent, and the watershed to the River Tyne. Despite being close to a major city, Hedley is typically Northumbrian and rural in character. Situated close to the villages of Stocksfield and Chopwell as well as to the rural market town of Hexham it is a small village with views across the Tyne valley.

Bywell Castle is situated in the village of Bywell overlooking the River Tyne, four miles east of Corbridge, Northumberland, England (grid reference NZ049615). It is a Grade I listed building and a Scheduled Ancient Monument. It was built in 1430 by the Neville family (see Earl of Westmorland) but was never completed. The impressive three-storey gatehouse remains, together with part of a curtain wall into which has been incorporated a much later house (Grade II listed). King Henry VI took refuge in Bywell Castle after the Battle of Hexham in 1464.The Castle is privately owned and not normally open to visitors. It is the seat of the Viscounts Allendale. Bywell Castle gave its name to a ship, which ploughed into the SS Princess Alice on the River Thames in September 1878, sinking her within minutes. The number of lives lost in the disaster are unclear but estimates have ranged from 590 to 640.

Mickley is a cluster of small settlements and former civil parish, now in the parish of Prudhoe, in the Tyne Valley, between Prudhoe and Stocksfield in the English county of Northumberland, England. It lies south of the River Tyne and is accessible via the A695. The electoral ward of Mickley comprises the hamlets of Mickley Square, West Mickley (including Mount Pleasant), High Mickley, plus Cherryburn and Eltringham Farm. The population is a little under one thousand. In 1951 the parish had a population of 1862.The Mickley settlements are served by St George's Church, which was built in 1830. Other facilities in Mickley include a garden centre, two social clubs, a deli and a cafe on the A695. There is a public house (The Blue Bell Inn), dating from the 1820s, at Mount Pleasant.
