Los Carneros AVA (also known as Carneros AVA) is an American Viticultural Area which includes parts of both Sonoma and Napa counties in California, U.S.A. It is located north of San Pablo Bay. The proximity to the cool fog and breezes from the bay makes the climate in Los Carneros cooler and more moderate than the wine regions farther north in Napa Valley and Sonoma Valley. The cooler climate has made Los Carneros attractive for the cultivation of cooler climate varietals like Pinot noir and Chardonnay. Many of the grapes grown in Los Carneros are used for sparkling wine production. Receiving its AVA status in 1983, the Carneros area was the first wine region in California to be defined by its climate characteristics rather than political boundaries.

Gundlach Bundschu Winery is a historic winery, and an outdoor concert venue, located in Sonoma County. It is California's oldest continuously family-owned winery, and is the third oldest winery after Buena Vista Winery (established months earlier by Agoston Haraszthy). It is still owned and operated by the founder's heirs and today led by the sixth generation, Jeff Bundschu. The winery's 320-acre (1.3 km2) estate vineyard, named Rhinefarm by Bavarian-born Jacob Gundlach in 1858, is located within the Sonoma Valley AVA of Sonoma County, at the crossroads of the Sonoma Valley, Los Carneros AVA and Napa Valley AVA, along the Mayacamas Mountains. They specialize in estate-driven, sustainably farmed Bordeaux reds and cool climate varietal wines.

Bliss, originally titled Bucolic Green Hills, is the default computer wallpaper of Microsoft's Windows XP operating system. It is a virtually unedited photograph of a green hill and blue sky with white clouds in the Los Carneros American Viticultural Area of California's Wine Country. Charles O'Rear took the photo in January 1996 and Microsoft bought the rights in 2000. It is estimated that billions of people have seen the picture, possibly making it the most viewed photograph in history.

Sonoma Skypark (FAA LID: 0Q9) is a public-use airport located three nautical miles (6 km) southeast of the central business district of Sonoma, a city in Sonoma County, California, United States. It is privately owned by Sonoma Skypark, Inc.The airport opened on January 3, 1965 in Vineburg, Sonoma, California. It is 28.9 nmi (53.5 km) north of San Francisco city center. Open to public use for light aircraft, the airfield offers various services, such as computer-based and in-flight training and self-serve 100LL aviation fuel. The hangars shelter many antique and classic aircraft, including a 1947 Luscombe 8E (Silvaire), a 1941 Interstate S-1A Cadet, a Briegleb BG 7 glider, and a 1946 Aeronca Champion. The airfield hosts a monthly Young Eagles Program, launched by the EAA in 1992 to give young people (from 8 to 17) an opportunity to fly in a general aviation airplane.

Hacienda Wine Cellars is a former winery once owned by Frank Bartholomew, that was located in Sonoma, California, United States. Hacienda was founded in 1973 after Bartholomew sold his ownership of Buena Vista Winery in 1968. After the sale, he retained the majority of his original vineyard land, and proceeded to acquire a former hospital located near the vineyard land and developed it into a winery. By 1977, it was operated by A. Crawford Cooley, producing 25,000 cases a year. JFJ Bronco purchased Hacienda by 1992, as well as Hacienda's sister label, Antares.Frank Bartholomew died in 1985. After his death, his wife, Antonia Bartholomew, built a replica of Agoston Haraszthy's former villa on the property. The building that once housed Hacienda became Bartholomew Park Winery in 1994.

Buena Vista Winery is a winery located in Sonoma, California, United States. It is the second oldest winery in California after the D'Agostini Winery, which was founded a year prior in 1856. It was founded by Agoston Haraszthy in 1857. The winery is located on its original grounds, just east of Sonoma, California.

Vineburg is an unincorporated community in Sonoma County, California, United States. Vineburg is 2 miles (3.2 km) southeast of Sonoma. Vineburg has a post office which was established in 1897.

Bartholomew Park Winery is a winery located in Sonoma, California, United States. The winery is located on the former site of Agoston Haraszthy's Buena Vista Winery and eventually, in the 1920s, Sonoma Valley Hospital. In 1941 the site was purchased by Frank Bartholomew. He eventually sold his portion of Buena Vista Winery and retained the majority of his vineyard land around the area. In 1973 he opened Hacienda Wine Cellars on the property. That brand was sold in 1973 and the former Hacienda building (which was the former hospital) was turned into Bartholomew Park Winery and the Sonoma Valley Wine Museum, by 1994. Today, the winery produces about 4,500 cases of wine a year and focuses primarily on Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot wines.

Arroyo Seco is a 6.9-mile-long (11.1 km) tributary stream to Schell Creek in southern Sonoma County, California, United States. In Spanish arroyo seco means "dry creek". Arroyo Seco Creek drains a portion of the western slopes of the southern Mayacamas Mountains. Its 11.4-square-mile (30 km2) watershed, along with the entire Mayacamas mountain block, was formed in the Miocene era by volcanic action and with tectonic uplift about 12 million years ago. Soils of the immediate streambed and its vicinity are classified as the riverwash series, recent deposition of sands and gravels.Arroyo Seco Creek springs near the Napa County line about 4 mi (6 km) northeast of Sonoma, California. It flows southward, emerging from near Sonoma Valley Hospital. After a confluence with Haraszthy Creek, it crosses under State Route 12 near Schellville, California, where it flows into Schell Creek. Schell Creek discharges to a network of sloughs that eventually empty into Sonoma Creek, which in turn empties into the Napa Sonoma Marsh and San Pablo Bay.

Schellville is an unincorporated community in Sonoma County, California, United States. Schellville was named after Theodore L. Schell, who lived on a ranch nearby. The community is located in the vicinity of the junction of California State Route 12 and California State Route 121 south of Sonoma, and had a post office from 1888 to 1931. Schellville also boasted a newspaper called the Schellville Ray, which was also used to promote local plots of land for sale.Schellville has been a regionally important rail junction since completion of the Santa Rosa and Carquinez Railroad to Napa Junction in 1888. The 2 mile long Northwestern Pacific Railroad railyard is located just south of the Schellville Depot at California State Routes 12/121 and Eighth Street East. Service along the mainline was planned to start again in July 2010, from the California Northern interchange at Schellville, north to Windsor until delays pushed the start date to 2011. The depot building, which was formerly a train station, now houses railroad equipment. Until it ended in 2014, Valley of the Moon Commute Club operated a once-daily transbay express service to San Francisco via Schellville, Sonoma, El Verano, Boyes Hot Springs, Santa Rosa, and San Rafael. Due to its low position along Sonoma Creek, the town regularly experiences flooding in high-rain years (about every 5–10 years).
