It is one of the seven assembly segments of the Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha constituency.Nagireddy Tippala is the current MLA of the constituency, having won the 2019 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly election from YSR Congress Party. As of 2019, there are a total of 309,326 electors in the constituency. In terms of registered number of electors, it is the largest assembly constituency in the state. The constituency was established in 2008, as per the Delimitation Orders (2008).

Hindustan Zinc Limited Ground is a cricket ground in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. It is owned by Hindustan Zinc Limited and was established in 2002. In 2007, the hosted five Inter-State T20 Championship matches since then it has been specialist ground for Twenty20 cricket. In 2009, the hosted four Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy matches since the ground was not being used for top level cricket. The ground is a regular host for under-age cricket in the state.

Kalam Institute of Health Technology or KIHT is a Government of India project supported by the Department of Biotechnology. The institution established in July 2017 is named in honour of A. P. J. Abdul Kalam and is located at Visakhapatnam within the campus of Andhra Pradesh Medtech Zone. The institute was established under Make in India Government programme.

Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) is the medical technology park with Common Manufacturing Facilities & Common Scientific Facilities located in Nadupuru village area of Visakhapatnam, adjacent to the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant. The AMTZ is spread over an area of 270 acres and it has over 10 manufacturing units. It currently houses the Bio Valley Incubation Council, funded by the Department of Biotechnology, and the Kalam Institute of Health Technology. In April 2020, the AMTZ has started making rapid testing kits for COVID-19 and planned to start the manufacture of ventilators.
