Back River (Saint George River tributary)

The Georges River Canal, also known as the General Knox Canal was a short-lived canal that operated on and near the course of the Saint George River in Knox and Waldo Counties in south-central Maine. First owned and operated by American Revolutionary War General Henry Knox between 1794 and 1806, it was briefly revived in 1847–50, but was not financially successful. It provided for transport of goods from near the river's headwaters in Searsmont to the head of navigation at Warren. A few elements of the canal survive today, and its route was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970.

MSAD 40 comprises the public education services for students in Union, Friendship, Waldoboro, Warren, and Washington.The superintendent's office and adult education programs will move to Union Elementary School from the Educational Services Center in Warren starting with the 2008–09 school year.

The Old Town House, also known as the Union Town House, is a historic government building at 128 Town House Road in Union, Maine. Built in 1840, it served the town for many years as its town hall, and as one of its major social venues. It is now owned by the local historical society, which operates it as a community meeting place. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.

The Union Fair is an annual agricultural fair in Union, Maine. It began in 1869 and, since 1886, all fairs in Knox County have taken place in Union.No fair was held in 1917–18, 1942–45 nor 2020. For many years the fair started on the third Saturday before Labor Day and run for eight days closing on the following Saturday. The fair now takes place in late July.

The East Branch Oyster River is a tributary of the Oyster River in Knox County, Maine. From its source (44°09′03″N 69°08′29″W) in Rockland, the stream runs 4.8 miles (7.7 km) southwest to its confluence with the main stem of the Oyster River, on the border between Warren and Thomaston.

The Oyster River is a tributary of the Saint George River in Knox County, Maine. From its source (44°11′29″N 69°09′42″W) in Rockport, the river runs 12.5 miles (20.1 km) south and southwest to its confluence with the Saint George. Its lower third forms the border between Warren and Thomaston.
