Helmdon Village railway station

Helmdon is a village and civil parish about 4 miles (6.4 km) north of Brackley in West Northamptonshire, England. The village is on the River Tove, which is flanked by meadows that separate the village into two. The parish includes the hamlets of Astwell and Falcutt and covers more than 1,550 acres (630 ha). The 2011 Census recorded a parish population of 899.The villages name means 'Helma's valley'. Alternatively, 'Helma (= helmet)' may be the name of a nearby hill. Early spellings also reflect confusion with Old English 'hamol' meaning, 'maimed'.

Helmdon railway station served the village and civil parish of Helmdon in Northamptonshire on the former Great Central Main Line (GCR). It was the second of two stations in the parish, the first being Helmdon Village on the Stratford-upon-Avon and Midland Junction Railway.

Helmdon Disused Railway is a 16.6-hectare (41-acre) linear biological Site of Special Scientific Interest between Helmdon and Brackley in Northamptonshire.This site is the former embankment and cutting of the Great Central Railway, which closed in 1966. It is Jurassic grassland, and limestone spoil heaps have a very diverse floral community. Butterflies include the nationally scarce wood white and five nationally declining species. It is the only location in the county for the small blue butterfly.A public footpath runs along the site.The route of the HS2 High Speed railway crosses the southern end of the site.

The hamlet is 6 miles (10 km) northeast of Brackley and 17+1⁄2 miles (28 km) by road southwest of the county town of Northampton. Today the hamlet contains little more than the Astwell Castle and a mill.

Weedon Lois Castle was a castle in the village of Weedon Lois, Northamptonshire, England. The castle was the caput baroniae of the barony of Weedon or Weedon Pinkeney. A ringwork castle was constructed around the late 11th century by Ghilo of Picquigni, a Norman soldier. The surname was anglicised as Pinkeney, with the Pinkeney family holding the castle until the late 13th century.

Plumpton Pasture is a 3.6-hectare (8.9-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest east of Towcester in Northamptonshire.There are medieval ridge and furrows on this unimproved meadow on clay. The drier ridge tops have many herbs, while the damp furrows are dominated by creeping bent and Yorkshire fog grasses. There are also mature hedges and a small pond.The site is private land with no public access.
