West Jefferson Hills School District

The Jefferson Hills Public Library is a public library serving Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. The library is located in Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania, formed in 1959 to promote reading, thinking, learning, enjoyment of the arts, and to enhance the quality of life for all members of the community.

Thomas Jefferson High School is an American public secondary school located in Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania. It is a part of the West Jefferson Hills School District which includes West Elizabeth, Jefferson Hills, and Pleasant Hills. These communities have a combined population of 15,000.

Jefferson Hills is a borough in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, United States. In the 2020 census, the population was 12,424. It is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. Part of the West Jefferson Hills School District, Jefferson Hills was created as Jefferson Township. Incorporated on January 22, 1828, it was named after Thomas Jefferson. Before 1998, the borough was known as simply Jefferson.

Wilson Christian Academy was a private Christian school in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania, that was established in 1977. It offered preschool for four- and five-year-olds, a full day kindergarten program and classes for grades 1 through 12. In July 2016, it was announced that Wilson would be merged into Cornerstone Christian Preparatory Academy, a school which had been founded in 2008 by Brandon McCall and was then located in South Park. The school remained at Wilson Christian Academy's location in West Mifflin but took Cornerstone's name and adopted their policies and education model. The school remains Pre-K through 12th grade.

Bear's Retreat is a small Pennsylvania landmark, primarily known for its age. It is a privately owned house dating back to c. 1794, being lived in as of 2011. The southern log side was built by Jacob Bare in 1794. It is believed he was a German immigrant based on the three-story construction of the log section. Despite plenty of room to build his home, large, heavy, hand-hewn logs were raised higher and higher into place in the traditional building custom of his homeland. The Northern "new addition" brick side built in 1840. The red-brick exterior was made on-site using the abundant clay found on the property. Remains of the outdoor summer kitchen are still clearly present. The property was designated a Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation Historic Landmark in 1983. Century III Mall is an abandoned enclosed shopping mall located along Route 51 in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania, approximately 10 miles southeast of downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. The mall was built on a former slag dump in 1979. The Century III Mall planning began in 1976, opened in 1979, and closed in 2019. Anchor stores included Kaufmann's, Gimbels, JCPenney, Sears, and Montgomery Ward. It was the third largest shopping mall in the world at the time of its opening, but has since been surpassed by much larger malls. The mall was originally developed and owned by Edward J. DeBartolo Corporation. A 1996 merger between the mall's developer, now known as the DeBartolo Realty Corporation, and Simon Property Group, brought Century III Mall under the Simon DeBartolo Group heading, who owned the mall until 2011. The vacant mall site is currently owned by Las Vegas-based Moonbeam Capital Investments LLC.

Lick Run is a 6.7-mile-long (10.8 km) urban stream in southern Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, a tributary of Peters Creek. The former Lick Run coal mine of the Pittsburgh Coal Company had its mouth near the stream, along the B&O Railroad line.Several stone arch bridges cross the stream. One carries Brownsville Road over the stream near Broughton. A National Landmark stone arch bridge carries Cochran Mill Road over the stream further downstream.

The Mon Valley Works–Irvin Plant is a steel processing plant operated by U.S. Steel and historically a "hot strip mill" (sometimes referred to as a "steel mill") in the Pittsburgh suburb of West Mifflin, Pennsylvania. The site consists of 650 acres on a hilltop 250 feet above the Monongahela Valley. The plant has an annual capacity of 2.9 million net tons of steel from an 80″ hot strip mill, 64″ and 84″ Pickle lines, 84″ five-stand cold reduction mill, continuous annealing line, batch and open-coil annealing facilities, 84″ temper mill, 52″ hot-dip galvanizing line and a 48″ hot-dip galvanizing line, as well as the #11 Shear Line and #17 Recoil line.

Pleasant Hills is a borough in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was 8,504. It is a suburb of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area.

The Bridge in Jefferson Borough, which carries Cochran's Mill Road over Lick Run, in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, is a single arch stone bridge built in 1901. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.Note, it is a different Cochran's Mill, in Armstrong County, which was the birthplace of Nellie Bly (Elizabeth Jane "Pink" Cochran).

The Clairton–Glassport Bridge, officially the Senator Edward P. Zemprelli Bridge is a girder bridge that carries vehicular traffic across the Monongahela River between Glassport, Pennsylvania and Clairton, Pennsylvania. It was opened on March 2, 1987, replacing a 1928 arch bridge that stood on the same site. The structure also passes over portions of the U.S. Steel Clairton Works, the largest coke producing facility in the United States.

Clairton is a city in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is located along the Monongahela River and is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. The population was 6,181 at the 2020 census. Under Pennsylvania legal classifications for local governments, Clairton is considered a third-class city. It is home to Clairton Works operated by U.S. Steel, the largest coke manufacturing facility in the United States. The city was the setting for the movie The Deer Hunter (1978), although none of the movie was actually filmed there (other mill towns in the Monongahela River Valley and elsewhere in the tri-state area were used). The Montour Trail, a recreational rail-trail, extends from Clairton to Coraopolis, Pennsylvania.
