Haaldersbroek is a hamlet in Zaanstad, North Holland in the Netherlands. It is located in the southeast of Kalverpolder and next to Zaanse Schans. The hamlet was first mentioned in historical records in the late 14th century. It is named after a swamp, which is now located in a part of Kalverpolder. The oldest house in Haaldersbroek dates from 1661. It is a former fishing village. It consists of about 150 people.

Zaandam Kogerveld is a railway station located in Zaandam, Netherlands. The station opened in 1989 on the Zaandam–Enkhuizen railway. The station is 2 km north of Zaandam railway station, and is in the Kogerveld estate. This station is a Zaandam suburb station. Hoornseveld and 't Kalf are two other estates in the area. Residents from Koog aan de Zaan also use this station for Purmerend and Hoorn.

De Kade was a 700-capacity live music venue located in Zaandam, Netherlands. It opened in 1997 and closed in 2013. Major artists performed at De Kade, including Glenn Hughes, Uriah Heep, Porcupine Tree and King Diamond.

The Zaan (Dutch pronunciation: [zaːn]) is a small river in the province of North Holland in the northwestern Netherlands and the name of a district through which it runs. The river was originally a side arm of the IJ bay and travels 13.5 kilometers (8½ miles) through the municipalities of Zaanstad ("Zaan City") and Wormerland north of Amsterdam, from West-Knollendam in the north to Zaandam in the south, where it empties into the IJ. The municipality of Zaanstad and several towns along the Zaan are named for the river: Koog aan de Zaan, Westzaan, Oostzaan, Zaandijk and the city of Zaandam. The river also runs past the Zaanse Schans, a village with historic windmills and houses.It ranks among the top tourist destinations in the Netherlands.

Houses on the Achterzaan is an 1871 painting by French artist Claude Monet. Done in oil on canvas, the work depicts riverside garden houses on the west shore of the Achterzaan river in Zaandam, the Netherlands. He painted it from the dam in the Zaan, facing northwest. The painting is in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The Czar Peter House (Dutch: Czaar Peterhuisje) is a historical building in Zaandam, the Netherlands. It is best known as the place where Tsar Peter I of Russia resided in 1697 during his Grand Embassy. The building was constructed in 1632.Peter had met the Zaandam blacksmith and craftsman Gerrit Kist when Kist had worked for the tsar in Moscow. Upon visiting the Zaanstreek, Peter insisted on staying with Kist in his home, despite Kist's protests that his house was a mere hovel, shared with the widow of one of his workers. The widow was paid to move out, and Peter spent a week as Kist's houseguest. The tsar was traveling incognito under the name Peter Michaeloff and while Kist did not reveal his guest's identity it did not take long for Peter to be recognized, making his observations difficult. Peter wanted to learn more about the Dutch shipbuilding industry, and with this knowledge (and other knowledge acquired during the Grand Embassy) begin a period of modernization and growth in Russia. At this time, the Dutch Republic was one of the most developed countries in the world. Although he remained at the house only a short time, he would return a number of times, the last in 1717.In 1895, a new stone cover was built over the house to protect it; this was done by the architect Salm, best known for designing the Artis Aquarium in Amsterdam. The cover was added to the list of national monuments in 2001, meaning that the Czar Peter House is actually on the list twice, once for the original building and once for the renovation.The house is part of the Zaans Museum and can be visited.

Zaandam (Dutch pronunciation: [zaːnˈdɑm] (listen)) is a city in the province of North Holland, Netherlands. It is the main city of the municipality of Zaanstad, and received city rights in 1811. It is located on the river Zaan, just north of Amsterdam. The statistical district Zaandam, which covers the city and the surrounding countryside, has a population of around 76,804. Zaandam was a separate municipality until 1974, when it became a part of the new municipality of Zaanstad.

Zaans Museum (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈzaːns myˈzeːjʏm]) is a museum in Zaandam, Netherlands, located at the Zaanse Schans. It opened in 1998 to preserve and protect the heritage of the Zaan area. In 2009, the museum was extended with the addition of the Verkade Experience. In 2016, the Zaans Museum opened three locations with living history at the Zaanse Schans: the Cooperage, the Jisper House, and the Weaver’s House. Another annex of the Zaans Museum is the Tsar Peter House in the centre of Zaandam. The museum houses cultural-historical and regional collections examining the residential and industrial culture. In 2015, the museum acquired a painting from the Zaan period (4 June – 8 October 1871) of the French impressionist painter Claude Monet, entitled 'The Voorzaan and the Westerhem'. The Zaans Museum is both physically connected with the Zaanse Schans and connected in terms of its exhibits. It sets itself the objective of offering extra depth to tourist visits to the Zaanse Schans by linking the archetypal image of 'Holland' with the factual history of the Zaan region.

Zaandam is the main railway station of Zaandam, near Amsterdam, Netherlands. It is at the junction of the Den Helder–Amsterdam railway and the Zaandam–Enkhuizen railway.

The Zaanse Time Museum (Dutch: Museum Zaanse Tijd) is a clock museum located in the Zaanse Schans in the North Holland municipality of Zaanstad.

De Huisman is a small octagonal mill at the Zaanse Schans in the Zaanstad, and currently makes mustard. 'De Huisman' has been located on the Zaanse Schans since 1955, next to the warehouse 'De Haan'. The mill was probably built in 1786 on the Blauwe Pad ("Blue Path", now "Claude Monet street") in Zaandam. The mill has functioned as a snuff mill (milling tobacco), a mustard mill, and a saw mill. At the Zaanse Schans, the mill was converted again into a mustard mill, though it mills the mustard seeds in a modern, not wind-operated way. There are advanced plans for the mill to be restored to a traditional mustard mill, and to give the public the opportunity to visit the mill. The mill is owned by the Vereniging De Zaansche Molen.

De Gekroonde Poelenburg (The Crowned Poelenburg) is a paltrok mill in Zaandam, Netherlands which has been restored to working order. Like all Dutch paltrok mills it is a windpowered sawmill. The mill is listed as a Rijksmonument, number 40093. It is located at the Zaanse Schans in a group of several historic industrial windmills.
