Hamal Castle

The Redemptiedorpen are a group of small villages north of Liège, Belgium. Their ownership was disputed between the United Provinces and the Duchy of Brabant since the 17th century. The areas retained independence, with the condition that they pay taxes to both powers. In practice, they were closely linked to the tweeherigheid of Maastricht. The villages were Falaise, Hermalle and Paifve in the current Belgian Liège Province and Hoepertingen, Mopertingen, Nederheim, Rutten and Veulen in the current Belgian province of Limburg.The Treaty of Fontainebleau in 1785 might have proposed an exchange of territories so that these areas would be absorbed, but protests from Baarle-Hertog delayed the work of the committee so much that nothing happened before the annexation of the Southern Netherlands by France.

Rutten (French: Russon) is a village in the Tongeren municipality of the Limburg province in the Flemish Community of Belgium. The village is located in the Haspengouw region, and was a separate municipality until its merger into Tongeren in 1977.

Diets-Heur (French: Heure-le-Tixhe) is a village and deelgemeente of Tongeren in the province of Limburg, Flemish region, Belgium. Diets-Heur is a small, rural village with a population of 362 people in 2017.

The Basilica of Our Lady (Dutch: Onze-Lieve-Vrouwe Basiliek, French: Basilique de Notre-Dame), also called Old Cathedral of Tongeren, is the main place of Catholic worship in Tongeren, Belgium, and the former cathedral of the suppressed diocese of Tongeren.

The Gallo-Roman Museum (Dutch: Gallo-Romeins Museum, French: Musée Gallo-romain, German: Gallo-Römisches Museum) is an archeological museum in Tongeren. It is dedicated to the prehistorical times and Roman age of the region in South East Flanders. The museum was established in 1954 and received its modern building in 1994. In 2011, it was awarded as the European Museum of the Year.

Tongeren (Dutch: [ˈtɔŋərə(n)] ; French: Tongres [tɔ̃ɡʁ]; German: Tongern [ˈtɔŋɐn]; Limburgish: Tóngere [ˈtʊŋəʀə]) is a city and municipality located in the Belgian province of Limburg, in the southeastern corner of the Flemish region of Belgium. Tongeren is the oldest town in Belgium, as the only Roman administrative capital within the country's borders. As a Roman city, it was inhabited by the Tungri, and known as Atuatuca Tungrorum, it was the administrative centre of the Civitas Tungrorum district.

Tongeren railway station (Dutch: Station Tongeren, French: Gare de Tongres) is a railway station in Tongeren, Limburg, Belgium. The station is on the Hasselt-Liège railway and marks the beginning of the Tongeren-Aachen railway through Visé to Germany. The station was also the final stop of the now demolished Drieslinter-Tongeren railway. The train services are operated by the National Railway Company of Belgium (NMBS/SNCB).

Herstappe (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈɦɛrstɑpə]; French pronunciation: [ɛʁstap]) is a Flemish municipality located in the Belgian province of Limburg. On January 1, 2016, Herstappe had a total population of 89. The total area is 1.35 km² which gives a population density of 66 inhabitants per km². It is the least populous municipality in Belgium, and the third smallest in area. Herstappe has a bilingual (Limburgish and Walloon) population. Formally it is a municipality with linguistic facilities for French speakers, which has so far prevented a merger with neighbouring Tongeren from taking place.

Crisnée (French pronunciation: [kʁisne]; Walloon: Crusnêye) is a municipality of Wallonia located in the province of Liège, Belgium. It covers an area of 16.83 km2 and on 1 January 2013 had a total population of 3,094, giving a population density on that date of 184 inhabitants per km2. The municipality consists of the following districts: Crisnée, Fize-le-Marsal, Kemexhe, Odeur, and Thys. Crisnée is twinned with the commune of Sansais, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, in western France.

Glons (Walloon: Glon; Dutch: Glaaien) is a village of Wallonia and a district of the municipality of Bassenge, located in the province of Liège, Belgium. Glons is a significant site in that it is the home of the NATO Programming Centre.

Waroux Castle (French: Château de Waroux) is a castle in Belgium, located in the old region of Hesbaye, in the ancienne commune of Alleur, Ans, Liège Province, Wallonia. Waroux was one of the rare circular castles in Belgium. The keep still remains of the medieval structure. For centuries it was the property of the de Waroux family until 1525, when it died by marriage. In 1696 it was apparently acquired by the De Clerkx de Waroux family, who remained the owners until 1925. The castle became the property of the commune of Ans in 2005.

Juprelle (French pronunciation: ​[ʒypʁɛl]; Walloon: Djouprele) is a municipality of Wallonia located in the province of Liège, Belgium. On 1 January 2006 Juprelle had a total resident population of 8,405. The total area is 35.36 km² which gives a population density of 238 inhabitants per km². The municipality consists of the following districts: Fexhe-Slins, Juprelle, Lantin, Paifve, Slins, Villers-Saint-Siméon, Voroux-lez-Liers, and Wihogne.
