Stüde is a village in the municipality of Sassenburg in Gifhorn district in the German state of Lower Saxony. In March 2005 it had 714 main residences and 339 secondary residences. It has an area of about 1,900 ha which consists mainly of woodland, including many clumps of pines on sandy soil. The Elbe Lateral Canal runs nearby. It is also home to the recreation area of the Bernsteinsee. Near the village is a glider airfield belonging to the Wolfsburg Aero-Club. Village societies include the Sassenburg-Stüde Volunteer Firemen, the Stüde Marathon Club, the Wolfsburg Aero-Club, the shooting club and the Doppelzentner Brothers.

Großes Moor (near Gifhorn)

The Großes Moor (literally "Great Bog") near Gifhorn is part of the Northwest German raised bog region, which stretches from the Netherlands to the eastern border of Lower Saxony on the sandy areas (geest) left behind by the ice age. The moor has a total area of about 6,100 hectares (15,000 acres), of which around 5,000 hectares (12,000 acres) are raised bog and some 1,100 hectares (2,700 acres) are fen. The peat layer is up to almost 6 metres (20 ft) thick in places. Individual parts of the moor have their own names like Stüder Moor, Hestenmoor or Weißes Moor.

Barnbruch

The Barnbruch is a wetland of international importance in the old glacial valley of the river Aller that provides a habitat for endangered species of birds, amphibians and insects. It lies between the city of Wolfsburg and town of Gifhorn and consists of an enclosed woodland area of around 1,500 hectares (3,700 acres) with surrounding meadows and pastures. This low-lying depression lies partly within the territory of the city of Wolfsburg and partly within Gifhorn district. Together with the Drömling around 15 km to the east, the Barnbruch is the most valuable ecological lowland region along the upper course of the Aller.
