Airbles railway station serves the Airbles area of Motherwell, North Lanarkshire in Scotland. It is located around 1⁄2 mile (1 km) away from Fir Park stadium, home of Motherwell F.C.

A Memorial to the Spanish Civil War is sited at the Duchess of Hamilton Park in Motherwell in Scotland. It is dedicated to the 40 local volunteers of the International Brigades that fought for the Republican cause in the Spanish Civil War between 1936 and 1939. 11 of the volunteers were killed in the war. The journalist Ethel MacDonald was the only female volunteer to travel from Lanarkshire to fight in the conflict. The memorial is inscribed with the Republican motto '¡No Pasarán!' ('they shall not pass').The memorial was erected by the No Pasaran Memorial Committee of North Lanarkshire. It was unveiled on 20 July 2013.An annual service is held at the memorial to remember the local volunteers who went to fight for the Republican side in the war. The flag of the Spanish Republic has been flown from Motherwell Civic Centre by North Lanarkshire council on several occasions to remember the volunteers.The memorial was vandalised with the words "Franco" and "vermin" in June 2021.

Dalziel Park Stadium was a football stadium located at Airbles Street and Glencairn Street in Motherwell, North Lanarkshire, that hosted the home matches of Motherwell, formed after a merger between Alpha and Glencairn. The first official match at the stadium was a 3–3 draw against Rangers. The exact capacity is unknown. After three years playing at a site on Roman Road, Motherwell played at Dalziel Park until 1895. The club had turned professional the previous year, and the ground was considered unsuitable for professional football, with the surface being described as small and muddy. The ground had only one stand, a pavilion based on the west side. Baron Hamilton of Dalzell granted a lease of land in the northern part of his Dalzell Estate, half-a-mile away, where Motherwell built a new stadium, Fir Park, where they are based to this day. The last match at Dalziel Park was against Royal Albert on 31 May 1895, with income raised from the match used to fund the new stadium.The old stadium was demolished and replaced by residential housing.

It is owned jointly by Chester Properties and Columbus Capital, who purchased the site from previous owners CALA Properties on May 2010. The centre is known locally as Motherwell Town Centre.

Geographically the River Clyde separates Motherwell from Hamilton to the west whereas the South Calder Water separates Motherwell from Carfin to the north-east and New Stevenston and Bellshill towards the north. Motherwell is also geographically attached to Wishaw and the two towns form a large urban area in North Lanarkshire, with both towns having similar populations and strong community ties.

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Motherwell (Latin: Dioecesis Matrisfontis) is an ecclesiastical diocese of the Catholic Church in Scotland.The diocese, which was erected on 25 May 1947 by Pope Pius XII from the Archdiocese of Glasgow, along with the Diocese of Paisley which was erected on the same day, remains one of two suffragan sees under the archdiocese. On Tuesday 29 April 2014 – the Feast of St Catherine of Siena – Pope Francis appointed Joseph Toal as the fifth bishop of Motherwell. In 2004, the Catholic population, proportionately the largest in Scotland and second largest in Great Britain, was 165,100 from a total population of 633,000 (26.1%). By 2016, the number of catholics dropped marginally to 162,331 but as the total population increased, percentagewise the catholics dropped to 22,8 % of the total population.In 2012 the diocese was served by 65 parish priests, 7 assistant priests and 13 deacons in across its 74 parishes (the number of parishes had reduced to 67 by March 2017). There are currently 35 retired priests from the diocese and 4 who reside in parishes in the diocese. The area of the diocese is 1,178 square kilometres (455 sq mi).
