Tinsley was a railway marshalling yard near Tinsley in Sheffield, England, used to separate railway wagons from incoming trains and add them to new trains. It was sited immediately west of the M1 motorway, about one mile north of the Catcliffe junction. It was opened in 1965, as a part of a major plan to rationalise all aspects of the rail services in the Sheffield area; it closed in stages from 1985, with the run-down of rail freight in Britain. It was also the site of Tinsley Traction Maintenance Depot (TMD), which was closed in 1998; at its peak, 200 locomotives were allocated to this depot. As of 2011, an intermodal road-rail freight terminal Sheffield International Rail Freight Terminal (SIRFT) is located on part of the site; it was built c2008. A set of sidings is operated by DB Schenker Rail (UK) serving the nearby Outokumpu steel works.

High Hazels Colliery was a coal mine situated between the parish of Catcliffe, near Rotherham, and the parish of Handsworth, near Sheffield. It was adjacent to the main line of the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway between the stations of Darnall and Woodhouse. The original colliery was owned by Thomas Coupland Hounsfield, a merchant who, until 1900, lived in Paris. In that year he leased the colliery to the Waverley Coal Company, who were already working Nunnery Colliery nearer to the city centre. The pit was small, with, in 1896, only 123 workers. High Hazels No.3 pit was the easternmost colliery of the Waverley group and situated slightly to the east of the other shafts. In 1947, on nationalisation, the colliery became part of the National Coal Board. The site was also home to coke ovens and by-products plant which was served by a 28" gauge railway on which operated 3 locomotives: The first two locomotives were products of Yorkshire Engine Company and were a four-coupled side tank design, Works No's. 546, built in 1897 and 898, built in 1906. The third locomotive was built by Black, Hawthorn & Company, a four-coupled saddle tank locomotive, Works No. 591, built in 1901.The locomotives and system were cut up when the coke ovens closed. Handsworth Football Club is a football club based in Handsworth, Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. They are currently members of the Northern Counties East League Premier Division and play at Olivers Mount in Darnall.

Tinsley Motive Power Depot, latterly Tinsley Traction Maintenance Depot (TMD), was a railway depot in Tinsley, South Yorkshire, near Sheffield. Access by road was from Brinsworth, near Rotherham. The depot was situated on the freight line between Treeton Junction and the A631 Shepcote Lane.

High Hazels Park is a 20-hectare parkland area in Darnall, Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. Since the 19th century, Darnall has been a centre of the coal and steel industry in Sheffield. High Hazels House, located in the park, was built in 1850 by William Jeffcock (the first Mayor of Sheffield). In 1894, Sheffield City Council (the Corporation of Sheffield) bought the land and house from the Duke of Norfolk and Messers Jeffcock for £10,875. In 1895, the land was first used as a public recreation ground and was classed as one of the finest parks within the city of Sheffield. The park used to be home to a boating lake, which has since been filled in.

The Advanced Manufacturing Park (AMP) is a 150-acre (61 ha) manufacturing technology park in Waverley, Rotherham, South Yorkshire, England. It was partly funded by the European Regional Development Fund, and developed by Harworth Group, previously the property development arm of UK Coal, on reclaimed opencast coal mine land close to the site of the battle of Orgreave.

Brinsworth Academy (formerly Brinsworth Comprehensive School) is a mixed secondary school and sixth form located in Brinsworth, South Yorkshire, England.

Brinsworth is a village and civil parish in the Metropolitan Borough of Rotherham, in South Yorkshire, England. It is situated close to the River Rother between Rotherham (to the north-east) and Sheffield (to the south-west). At the time of the 2001 census it had a population of 8,950, reducing to 8,789 at the 2011 Census.Brinsworth became a new separate ward in May 2021 which covers the whole village beyond the parish boundary. This change is to accommodate an expanding neighbouring ward of Rother Vale - that includes a new mainly private housing estate of Waverley which has around 3,800 homes with its own school and lake frontage. From Brinsworth people can now walk alongside the lakes at Waverley to Rother Valley Country Park, Gulliver's Valley theme park resort and the new Waleswood Caravan and Camping park.

Tinsley Park Collieries were a group of coal mines situated in the Tinsley / Darnall area to the east of the City of Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England.

Tinsley Park Cemetery is one of the city of Sheffield's many cemeteries. It was opened in 1882, and covers 19 acres (77,000 m2). The cemetery is still open to burials, and since the first burial on 2 June 1882 over 59,000 burials have taken place. There are buried in the cemetery 42 Commonwealth service personnel from World War I and 32 from World War II. The entranceway to the cemetery is flanked by a pair of Grade II listed Gothic style chapels, where services can be held prior to the burial. Other listed structures in the cemetery include the lodge, gateway and boundary wall and a war memorial, 250m east of the chapel.

Waverley is a civil parish in the Metropolitan Borough of Rotherham in the southeastern part of the county of South Yorkshire, England. It is situated about 140 miles (230 km) north of London, 3.52 miles (5.66 km) from Rotherham town centre and 3.96 miles (6.37 km) from Sheffield City Centre. The parish was formed on 1 April 2019 from parts of the parishes of Catcliffe and Orgreave. The Advanced Manufacturing Park has been developed in the area of the later parish since the 2000s, partly on land reclaimed from a former opencast coal mine.
