Hedenham

Hedenham Wood is a 23.4-hectare (58-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest north of Hedenham in Norfolk.Most of this ancient wood on boulder clay is hornbeam coppice with oak standards, but the wet valley bottom has ash, maple and elm. The diverse ground flora includes some uncommon species.The site is private with no public access.

Ditchingham Hall is an English country house, near the village of Ditchingham in south Norfolk, England, which is set in about 2,000 acres (810 ha) of parkland landscaped by Capability Brown. The Hall is about 2 miles (3.2 km) northwest of Ditchingham off the B1332 road between Bungay, Suffolk and Norwich. It is the country house of Earl Ferrers since it was inherited by the 13th Countess Ferrers. The current owner is Robert William Saswalo Shirley, 14th Earl Ferrers. It is a private house and not open to the public.

Royal Air Force Seething, or more simply RAF Seething , is a former Royal Air Force station located around 9 NM (17 km; 10 mi) south-east of Norwich, Norfolk, England. The base was located on the parish boundaries of Seething, Mundham and Hedenham.

Tindall Wood, Ditchingham is a 42.2-hectare (104-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest north of Ditchingham in Norfolk.This is one of the largest hornbeam woods in Norfolk. It is ancient coppice with standards, and the standards are oak, ash and hornbeam, and there are several uncommon species in the ground flora.The wood is private with no public access.

Seething Airfield (ICAO: EGSJ), formerly RAF Seething, is located 9 NM (17 km; 10 mi) south southeast of Norwich, East Anglia, England. Seething Airfield (EGSJ) is a privately owned airfield in Norfolk, England and is home to the Waveney Flying Group. Situated in the village of Mundham, paradoxically just outside of Seething, south east of Norwich and just a few miles from the East Coast. The aerodrome is officially open to visitors Saturdays and Sundays from 0900 to around 1700 hrs (sunset in winter). Founded in 1960, the Waveney Flying Group leased the former USAAF airbase from local farmers and went on to purchase the land in 1963. Its close proximity to Great Yarmouth meant it saw quite a bit of celebrity use in the 60s and 70s when stars such as The Hollies, The Rolling Stones and Mike and Bernie Winters dropped in. In latter years, the new millennium has seen both the club house and hangars developed culminating with their official opening by Wing Cdr. Ken Wallis MBE in 2001.

Sexton Wood is a 40-hectare (99-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest north-west of Ditchingham in Norfolk. It is a Nature Conservation Review site, Grade 2.This ancient wood on boulder clay is mainly coppice with standards, but there are some areas of high forest. The ground flora is diverse, with dog's mercury dominant and other plants such as ramsons and early-purple orchid.The wood is private property with no public access.

Bath Hills is a 12.2-hectare (30-acre) Local Nature Reserve west of Ditchingham in Norfolk. It is owned by South Norfolk District Council and managed by the Broads Authority.This is the sheltered south side of a steep valley, and spring flowers bloom very early as a result.

Woodton is a village and civil parish in the English county of Norfolk. It is situated some 7 km north-west of the Suffolk town of Bungay, and 20 km south-east of Norwich.The civil parish has an area of 8.85 km2 (3.42 sq mi) and in the 2001 census had a population of 472 in 194 households, increasing to 482 at the 2011 Census. For the purposes of local government, the parish falls within the district of South Norfolk.The village's name indicates a settlement in the woods (wudu, ‘woods’ + tun ‘enclosure, settlement, farm’). Over the years different variants of the name have been used, including Wdetuna, Wodetuna, Wodetone, Wudetuna, Uidetuna and Wootton. A number of Bronze Age ring ditches dating from between the 23rd century BC and the 7th century BC have been identified in the area. In 1575 Robert Suckling became Lord of the whole of Woodton, and various members of the Suckling family lived in the parish, including John Suckling (poet) and Catherine Suckling (the mother of Horatio Nelson). The Sucklings were lord of the manor until 1810. The Woodton sanctuary has a portrait of Nelson's great-great-grandmother: Ann Suckling (d. 1653) is "beautifully and sensitively sculpted".Wootton Hall was built in 1694 and in 1862 was listed as the seat of Robert Suckling and his wife Sarah Shelton; it was demolished in 1841–2.

Thwaite St Mary is a rural village (and civil parish) in the English county of Norfolk, it sits just a few miles north of the Suffolk border. Thwaite – sometimes pronounced ‘twayt’ by locals – has approximately thirty-five dwellings and a population of around seventy-nine. The population is included in the civil parish of Hedenham. The name Thwaite means 'Clearing'.Due to its rural location and minimal air and light pollution, Thwaite is home to an astronomical observatory run by the University of East Anglia. The village also backs on to the tiny Seething Airfield, formerly RAF Seething which utilises part of the runway from an old American wartime airbase. The 1941 control tower still stands and serves as a museum to the war years and to the 448th Bombardment Group (Heavy) in particular. Its unchanged control tower and the fact that it is still an active airfield means that Seething is often used as a location for wartime-themed charity events and air-days. It is also one of the staging posts for the popular Lowestoft summer air-show. The community in Thwaite is active in organising social and fund-raising events. These events regularly draw a crowd from the wider South-Norfolk and Suffolk area. Together with the appearance of the village and its position in the picturesque Norfolk/Suffolk-borders countryside, this social cohesion contributes to a reputation as a highly desirable place to live.

Bedingham is a village and civil parish in the South Norfolk district of Norfolk, England, about 11 miles (18 km) south of Norwich. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 216, increasing to 221 at the 2011 census.The villages name means 'Homestead/village of Beda's people'.The church of Bedingham St Andrew is one of 124 existing round-tower churches in Norfolk.
