Pavon Prison (Granja Penal de Pavón) is a prison in Guatemala. It is located outside the town of Fraijanes near Guatemala City. It is a part of the Dirección General del Sistema Penitenciario de Guatemala. It was built in the late-1970s and over time it became overcrowded and authorities decided to only control the perimeters of the prison and let the prisoners run the interior on their own. Since 1996, a society developed, with cocaine operations run by Colombian drug lords incarcerated there.

The Lycée français Jules Verne (Spanish: Colegio Julio Verne is a French international school in Fraijanes, Guatemala. It serves levels maternelle (preschool) to lycée (senior high school).

San José Pinula is a town, with a population of 67,327 (2018 census), and a municipality in the Department of Guatemala in the Republic of Guatemala in Central America. It is located 21 kilometers (13 mi) from the capital, Guatemala City. The city was established in 1886 as Villorio San José. The city is surrounded by mountains. Until a few years ago, the economy was based on the growing of corn, as well as some vegetables such as guisquil, chayote or pataste. However, the growth of Guatemala City in recent years has transformed farmland into suburban neighborhoods. Golf courses, such as Hacienda Nueva Country Club which used to be a convent in the 16th century and Alta Vista Country Club, both considered world-class, are now in and around San José Pinula. The city is governed by municipal authorities elected every four years. The predominant religion in the region is Roman Catholic, followed by evangelical Protestant denominations. The patron saint and namesake of the town is San José (St. Joseph), whose day and is annually celebrated on March 19. Currently, the town of San José Pinula is coping with rapid growth which has resulted in increased traffic congestion in the mornings and evenings. On March 8, 2017 there was a fire in a youth home filled with 500 children. There had been a riot about the conditions and about sexual abuse by the staff. 41 girls were killed.

Santa Catarina Pinula is a town, with a population of 70,982 (2018 census) and a municipality in the Guatemala Department of Guatemala. Its name, according to Guatemalan colonial historian Francisco Antonio de Fuentes y Guzmán in his book Recordación Florida comes from: Santa Catarina: the name of it saint patron Catherine of Alexandria Pinula: from pipil "Flour of water" ("Pinul": Flour of Pinole and "Ha": Water). This may come from the Mexican natives who came alongside Alvarado's forces.

The Guatemala City Guatemala Temple (formerly the Guatemala City Temple) is the 34th constructed and 32nd operating temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). Located in Guatemala City, capital city of Guatemala, it was built with a modern six-spire design.

The 2017 Guatemala orphanage fire occurred on 8 March 2017, at the Virgen de la Asunción Safe Home in San José Pinula, Guatemala. Forty-one girls, aged between 14 and 17 years old, were killed when a fire broke out at the orphanage. The girls had been locked in a schoolroom following protests, riots and an escape attempt which occurred the day before. In the aftermath of the fire, three government officials—including the country's Secretary of Social Welfare—were arrested and charged with crimes such as wrongful death and negligence.

Rafael Landívar University (Universidad Rafael Landívar) is a private Catholic coeducational higher education institution run by the Society of Jesus in Vista Hermosa III Guatemala. It was founded by the Jesuits in 1961. The main campus is in Zone 16 of Guatemala City and is known as Vista Hermosa III. There are satellite campuses in Quetzaltenango, Huehuetenango, Cobán, Zacapa, and other parts of the country. Many recent Guatemalan presidents have studied at the university, including Ramiro de León Carpio, Álvaro Arzú, and Óscar Berger.

Villa Canales is a city and municipality in the Guatemala department of Guatemala, situated 22 km south of the capital Guatemala City. As of the 2018 census, the city had a population of 124,680, making it the eleventh largest city in Guatemala.

On 19 February 2007, three members of the ARENA party of El Salvador — Eduardo D'Aubuisson, William Pichinte and José Ramón González, as well as their driver, Gerardo Ramírez — were found murdered near Guatemala City, Guatemala. Four police detectives were arrested and charged with the murder; within three days of their arrest, the four were murdered in a maximum-security prison cell. Several prosecutors investigating the deaths have also been murdered.

The Atrium Building (Edificio Atrium) is a skyscraper in Guatemala City, Guatemala. It is a residential building located at Diagonal 6 16-01, in Zone10 of the city. At 84 metres or 275 feet , as of 2009 it is the second tallest building in Guatemala. The building has 28 floors and 138 rooms and was completed in 2008.It was designed by Solares y Lara Arquitectos and constructed by the Aicsa Corporation.

The Italian ambassador to Guatemala City is the official representative of the Government in Rome to the Government of Guatemala.

Academia de Artes Culinarias de Guatemala is a culinary training academy in Guatemala. Many of the top chefs in Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, and southern Mexico have trained at the academy. The Culinary Academy of Guatemala, in addition to offering programs for training chefs, offers free courses on world cuisines.
