West Hoathly

St Margaret's Church (dedicated in full to St Margaret of Antioch) is an Anglican church in the village of West Hoathly in Mid Sussex, one of seven local government districts in the English county of West Sussex. By the late 11th century, a simple single-room stone building existed on the high, open ridge upon which the village developed. A series of medieval expansions doubled its size by the 15th century, and the present building has changed little since then—despite a Victorian restoration overseen by architect R. H. Carpenter. A major addition was the heavily buttressed Perpendicular Gothic west tower, topped with a tall broach spire and containing a peal of ancient bells. The large, steeply terraced churchyard also serves as a public cemetery and has far-reaching views across the Weald. The original dedication to Saint Margaret of Antioch fell out of use for many centuries until a researcher rediscovered it. The church serves a large rural parish which was reduced in size in 1882 when two residents of the hamlet of Highbrook paid for an additional church to be built there. English Heritage has listed it at Grade I for its architectural and historical importance.

The Priest House is a Grade II* listed fifteenth century timber framed hall house in the centre of West Hoathly, in West Sussex, England. It is close to The Cat Inn and St Margaret's Church. It is now a museum, open to the public six days a week from March to October.

West Hoathly is a closed railway station on what is now the Bluebell Railway. The station was closed in 1958, but was used by contractors demolishing the line in the 1960s to bring equipment in and out.

Gravetye Manor is a manor house located near East Grinstead, West Sussex, England. The former home of landscape gardener William Robinson, it is now a hotel and restaurant holding, in 2020, one star in the Michelin Guide, and is a Grade I listed building, with Grade 2* listed gardens.

Sharpthorne is a village in the Mid Sussex District of West Sussex, South-East England. It lies on the West Hoathly to Forest Row road 3.8 miles (6.2 km) south of East Grinstead. The Bluebell Railway runs through a 731 yards (668 m) long tunnel underneath the village, the longest on a preserved Standard Railway put-together.

West Hoathly SSSI is a 0.7-hectare (1.7-acre) geological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Sharpthorne in West Sussex. It is a Geological Conservation Review site.

Philpot's and Hook Quarries is a 2.6-hectare (6.4-acre) geological Site of Special Scientific Interest south-west of Sharpthorne in West Sussex. It is a Geological Conservation Review site.These quarries expose the Ardingly Sandstone Member in the Tunbridge Wells Sand Formation, which is part of the Wealden Group, dating to the Lower Cretaceous between 140 and 100 million years ago. Philpot's Quarry has many dinosaur fossils and both quarries have debris dating to the Precambrian.The quarries are private land with no public access.

Kingscote railway station is a preserved railway station on the heritage Bluebell Railway, located in West Sussex, England.

All Saints Church is an Anglican church in the hamlet of Highbrook in Mid Sussex, one of seven local government districts in the English county of West Sussex. The tiny settlement, in the parish of West Hoathly, was distant from the parish church in that village; two wealthy sisters accordingly funded the construction of a new church to serve the local population. Richard H. Carpenter and Benjamin Ingelow's stone building, with a prominent spire, opened in 1884 and was allocated its own parish. The "handsome" church, designed in the 14th/15th-century style of the Gothic Revival, has been listed at Grade II by English Heritage for its architectural and historical importance.

Stone Farm Rocks or Stone Hill Rocks is a 0.6-hectare (1.5-acre) geological Site of Special Scientific Interest south of East Grinstead in West Sussex. It is a Geological Conservation Review site.This is typical of many sandstone crags in mid-Sussex which expose the Tunbridge Wells Sand Formation, part of the Wealden Group which dates to the Early Cretaceous between 140 and 100 million years ago. It displays a variety of sedimentary structures in three dimensions and is described by Natural England as "an important site for the study and interpretation of sedimentary structures in the upper Lower Tunbridge Wells Sand".The site has been owned by the British Mountaineering Council since 2001, who run it for the benefit of climbers. There are 74 identified climbs on the rocks. Bolt belays have been installed at the top of many of the climbs to reduce erosion of the site.

Horsted Keynes railway station is a preserved railway station on the Bluebell Railway in Sussex. The station has been used as a shooting location in several film and TV productions.

Lingfield Cernes is a 10.3-hectare (25-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest east of Lingfield in Surrey.
