Baynard Castle was a moated castle built in the 12th and 13th centuries in the village of Cottingham, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It was referred to by terms including the 'castle at Cottingham' or 'Stuteville's castle'; the term Baynard Castle is common in 19th-century references and later.

Needler Hall was a hall of residence of the University of Hull, located on Northgate in Cottingham, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. Originally a large private house built in the 18th century, it was acquired, along with Thwaite Hall, by the newly established university college in 1928. It was named in honour of Frederick Needler, of Needler's (a Hull-based sweets manufacturer), who was a major benefactor of the university college.

Cottingham High School is a secondary school in Cottingham in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. The school has specialist Arts College status, with facilities for media arts, music, drama and dance for performing arts. In July 2011 the school became an Academy.

Cottingham is a large village and civil parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It lies 4 miles (6 km) north-west of the centre of Kingston upon Hull, and 6 miles (10 km) south-east of Beverley on the eastern edge of the Yorkshire Wolds. It forms part of Hull's Urban Area. It has two main shopping streets, Hallgate and King Street, which cross each other near the Church of Saint Mary the Virgin, and a market square called Market Green. Cottingham had a population of 17,164 residents in 2011, making it larger by area and population than many towns. As a result, it is one of the villages claiming to be the largest village in England.

The East Yorkshire Borough of Beverley was a local government district and borough of Humberside, England, from 1974 to 1996. It was formed on 1 April 1974, by the merger of the previous borough of Beverley, with Beverley Rural District and Haltemprice Urban District. Initially named Beverley, the name was formally changed by the council to East Yorkshire Borough of Beverley in 1981.On 1 April 1996, Humberside was abolished along with the borough, and the area become part of a unitary East Riding of Yorkshire.

Cottingham railway station serves the village of Cottingham in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. Located on the Yorkshire Coast Line, it is managed by Northern. The station serves the northern suburbs of Hull and generates much commuter traffic.

Hullshire was a county corporate in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England from 1440 to 1889. Hullshire may refer to the area outside the town of Kingston upon Hull, whilst the entire entity was sometimes referred to as the "Town and County of Kingston upon Hull".

Haltemprice Priory was an Augustinian monastery approximately two miles south of the village of Cottingham in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. The original monastic buildings have long since gone, although ruins of a farmhouse, built in 1584, remain on site and incorporate some of the Priory stonework.

Haltemprice is an area in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England, directly to the west of Hull. Originally an extra-parochial area, it became a civil parish in 1858, in 1935 it was expanded by the combination of the urban districts of Cottingham, Anlaby, and Sculcoates to form a new urban district; the district included the villages of Anlaby, Cottingham, Hessle, Kirk Ella, Skidby, West Ella and Willerby. Urban districts were abolished 1974. As of 2012 Haltemprice gives its name to the Haltemprice and Howden (UK Parliament constituency), and the East Riding of Yorkshire Council run 'Haltemprice Leisure Centre' in Anlaby.
