Spyros disaster

USS LST-649 originally was a United States Navy LST-542-class tank landing ship built during World War II and in commission from 1944 to 1946 and again in the late 1952. She was sold to the Republic of Singapore Navy and renamed RSS Resolution (L-204).

Jurong Island desalination plant is a desalination plant on Jurong Island in Singapore. It is the fifth desalination plant in Singapore.

Tuas Naval Base (TNB) is the second naval base of the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN). Located at the western tip of Singapore, it occupies 0.28 km² (0.11 sq mi) of land. It was officially opened on 2 September 1994, by Goh Chok Tong, the Prime Minister of Singapore(at the time). For about two decades, Brani Naval Base was the RSN's only base. An expansion of the fleet in the early 1980s meant that more space was needed for the fleet and its shore infrastructure. However, this was not possible as the land around Brani was reserved for use by the port authority to develop container facilities. As a result, Tuas was selected as the site for a second naval base. Better utilisation of space at TNB resulted in two and a half times more berthing space than Brani, even though TNB only has a shoreline of 850 m (0.5 mi). Provision was also made for recreational facilities. Automation was incorporated into the design of TNB to reduce manpower requirements, such as mechanical ramps for the loading and unloading of vehicles and an automatic storage and retrieval system. It also has a floating dock which can lift 600 tonnes and transfer a ship from sea to land to facilitate repairs and maintenance.Currently, the Littoral Mission Vessel, the missile corvettes, patrol vessels and mine counter-measures vessels are based at TNB.

Tuas Biomedical Park (abbreviation: TBP) is a biomedical manufacturing cluster developed by JTC Corporation at the western end of Singapore. The 183-hectare Tuas Biomedical Park I and 188-hectare Tuas Biomedical Park II are located at Tuas View – 20 minutes away from Jurong Port and five minutes from the Tuas Checkpoint to Malaysia. TBP comes with all essential infrastructure, such as roads, power lines, telecommunication lines, sewer pipes and water and gas supplies. Third parties are providing utilities such as steam, natural gas, chilled water and waste treatment services. To improve the appearance of the industrial estate, JTC has spent $6 million on lush landscaping. With the estate's "plug-and-play" design, pharmaceutical, biologics, medical device and other biomedical companies can set up manufacturing operations with minimal lead time. They can either move into fully serviced facilities or custom-build their own manufacturing plants. Currently, there are many well-known companies operating in TBP. They include global biomedical players like Merck, Novartis, Pfizer, Wyeth, Genentech and GlaxoSmithKline.

Tuas South Incineration Plant is the largest waste incineration facility in Singapore. It was commissioned in June 2000. The plant can incinerate 3000 tonns of garbage everyday. The incineration reduces the waste volume by 90%. The plant occupies 10.5 ha of reclaimed land. It was constructed at a cost of S$890 million. The plant also generate 80 MW of electricity.

Tuas Crescent MRT station is an above-ground Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station along the East–West line in Tuas, Singapore. This station is named after a road in the vicinity.

Gul Circle MRT station is an elevated Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station on the East West line (EWL). Located in Tuas, western Singapore, the station serves the surrounding industries of JTC Space @ Tuas and Mapletree Pioneer Logistic Hub. The station is operated by SMRT Trains. First announced in 2011 as Tuas MRT station, it was constructed as part of the Tuas West Extension (TWE). The station began operations on 18 June 2017. At the height of 33 metres (108 ft), the station is the tallest elevated station in Singapore. The station has a stacked island platform arrangement with provisions for an MRT extension to Tuas South.

RMS Empress of Asia was an ocean liner built in 1912–1913 by Fairfield Shipbuilding and Engineering at Govan on the Clyde in Scotland for Canadian Pacific Steamships. As well as being a passenger liner in peacetime, Empress of Asia served as an armed merchant cruiser and a troopship in wartime. She was sunk during World War II by Japanese aircraft while transiting from Bombay to Singapore.

Pulau Merambong, formerly known as Pulo Ular, is an uninhabited island on the Straits of Johor. The island is dominated by mangrove swamp. It is located just 1 kilometre (0.62 miles) off the coast from Tuas, Singapore. Administratively, it is placed under the Pontian District, Johor, Malaysia.

Jurong Island is an island located to the southwest of the main island of Singapore. It was formed from the amalgamation of seven offshore islands, the islands of Pulau Ayer Chawan, Pulau Ayer Merbau, Pulau Merlimau, Pulau Pesek, Pulau Pesek Kechil (also called Terumbu Pesek), Pulau Sakra (which was a previous merger of Pulau Sakra and Pulau Bakau), Pulau Seraya, Pulau Meskol, Pulau Mesemut Laut, Pulau Mesemut Darat and Anak Pulau. This was done through Singapore's land reclamation efforts. Land reclamation on Jurong Island was completed on 25 September 2009, 20 years earlier than scheduled. Pulau Buaya was joined to Jurong Island via reclamation in 2010. Jurong Island forms a land area of about 32 km2 (12 sq mi) from an initial area of less than 10 km2 (4 sq mi), and is the largest of Singapore's outlying islands.

Tuas Lamp Post 1 is a cycling attraction in Singapore. It is the only lamp post in Singapore on which it is legal to paste stickers. This has led to it being covered in stickers as high as 10 meters up. It is located on Tuas South Boulevard, near the Tuas Mega Port, about 13km from the Tuas Checkpoint.

Joo Koon Bus Interchange is a bus interchange located in Joo Koon, Singapore. The facility is situated at the junction of Joo Koon Circle and Benoi Road, and located at the ground level of NTUC FairPrice's FairPrice Hub, next to Joo Koon MRT station on the East–West line.
