Huntington Desert Garden

The Desert Garden Conservatory is a large botanical greenhouse and part of the Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens, in San Marino, California. It was constructed in 1985. The Desert Garden Conservatory is adjacent to the 10-acre (40,000 m2) Huntington Desert Garden itself. The garden houses one of the most important collections of cacti and other succulent plants in the world, including a large number of rare and endangered species. The 3,000-square-foot (280 m2) Desert Garden Conservatory serves The Huntington and public communities as a conservation facility, research resource and genetic diversity preserve. John N. Trager is the Desert Collection curator. There are an estimated 10,000 succulents worldwide, about 1,500 of them classified as cacti. The Huntington Desert Garden Conservatory now contains more than 2,200 accessions, representing more than 43 plant families, 1,261 different species and subspecies, and 246 genera. The plant collection contains examples from the world's major desert regions, including the southern United States, Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Brazil, Canary Islands, Madagascar, Malawi, Mexico and South Africa. The Desert Collection plays a critical role as a repository of biodiversity, in addition to serving as an outreach and education center.

The Huntington Library, Art Museum and Botanical Gardens, known as The Huntington, is a collections-based educational and research institution established by Henry E. Huntington and Arabella Huntington in San Marino, California. In addition to the library, the institution houses an extensive art collection with a focus on 18th and 19th century European art and 17th to mid-20th century American art. The property also has approximately 120 acres (49 ha) of specialized botanical landscaped gardens, including the "Japanese Garden", the "Desert Garden", and the "Chinese Garden".

The Edwin Hubble House is a historic house in San Marino, California. Built in 1925, it was the home of astronomer Edwin Hubble (1889–1953) for most of his professional life. Hubble is renowned as one of the greatest astronomers of the 20th century, whose discoveries revolutionized the science. His home, still a private residence, was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1976.

The Hale Solar Laboratory is a historic astronomical observatory in Pasadena, Los Angeles County, California, United States. Built in 1923, it was the laboratory of astronomer George Ellery Hale (1868-1938), a pioneering figure in the development of the discipline of astrophysics in the United States. The building, a distinctive blend of Mission Revival and Spanish Colonial Revival styles, was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1989.

Lacy Park is a public park located in the city of San Marino, California. It is located in the San Rafael Hills, at 1485 Virginia Road. The park features lush vegetation, open grass space, a rose garden, walking loops, tennis courts, and many other amenities and areas. The main entrance is on Virginia Road, but access is available on St Albans Road ( weekdays only). Non-residents are required to pay a $5 fee on weekends.The park is named after San Marino's mayor, Richard H. Lacy.

San Pasqual () is a census-designated place in Los Angeles County, California. It lies between San Marino and Pasadena. The major streets in San Pasqual are San Pasqual Street, South Sierra Madre Blvd., and Oakdale Street. San Pasqual is served by the Pasadena post office responsible for ZIP code 91107, and thus locations there are properly addressed with the final line reading "Pasadena, CA 91107". The population was 2,041 at the 2010 census. The name comes from the Rancho San Pascual, of which San Pasqual is one of the remaining unincorporated areas.

Arden Villa is a Palladian-style estate located in Pasadena, California, designed by the architectural firm Marston & Van Pelt in 1913 for William Kennon Jewett. Arden Villa has gained fame not only for its architectural splendor but also for its appearances in various movies and TV shows, earning it the nickname "Dynasty Mansion" due to its association with the popular 1980s TV drama Dynasty. Arden Villa was also used in the classic 1980's US TV series Knight Rider, as the base HQ for the fictional non-profit organization known as the Foundation for Law and Government. Knight Rider was an action drama series featuring a lone crime fighter Michael Knight and his artificially intelligent talking car called KITT. Over the years, Arden Villa has become a sought-after location for the entertainment industry, appearing in various movies, TV shows, and commercials.

San Gabriel Cemetery is a historic cemetery in San Gabriel, California, United States. Founded in 1872, it contains over 19,000 burials in its approximately 15 acres (6 ha), including many of the founding leaders of San Gabriel and Los Angeles.

Tournament Park is a park and athletics venue in Pasadena, California, United States, northeast of Los Angeles. Currently maintained by the California Institute of Technology, it was simply known as the "town lot" before being renamed "Tournament Park" in 1900. Tournament Park gets its name from the Tournament of Roses, and it served as a venue in the early 20th century for events associated with the Tournament, such as chariot races, ostrich races, and even a race between a camel and an elephant. Besides hosting Tournament of Roses events, the venue hosted other events at the turn of the 20th century, such as the Southern California Horse Show Association's annual horse show. Tournament Park is best known as the site of the first eight Rose Bowl Games (1902, 1916–1922).
