Seasalter

Seasalter Levels is a 71.4-hectare (176-acre) Local Nature Reserve in Seasalter, on the western outskirts of Whitstable in Kent. It is owned and managed by Canterbury City Council. It is part of The Swale Ramsar site, Special Protection Area and Site of Special Scientific Interest.This freshwater grazing marsh is important for wildfowl and wading birds such as wigeons, redshanks, lapwings, mallards and shelducks.There is no public access to the site.

Foxes Cross Bottom is a 4-hectare (9.9-acre) Local Nature Reserve north-west of Whitstable in Kent. It is owned and managed by Canterbury City Council.This site has diverse habitats of grassland, scrub, broadleaved woodland, ponds, ditches and hedges. The meadows are grazed by ponies and highland cattle.There is public access to the site.

Yorkletts is a settlement two miles south of Whitstable in Kent in South East England. At the 2011 Census the settlement was included in the Seasalter ward of the City of Canterbury Council, and it is one of the smaller villages in the City of Canterbury.Yorkletts is home to the large Woodland Trust site, Victory Woods, with views over the North Sea.

Duncan Down is an open, public, area to the south west of Whitstable and is the largest village green in the United Kingdom. It is a 21 hectare (52 acre) area of grass and woodland incorporating four ponds and a brook. The area is maintained by the Friends of Duncan Down with assistance from Canterbury City Council and has received funding from nearby planning development. Originally intended for housing development in the inter-war years it is now protected by its village green status.

Black Mill, or Borstal Hill Mill is a smock mill in Whitstable, Kent, England that was built in 1815. It is now a part of a private residence at the end of Millers Court.

Whitstable Museum is a heritage centre in Whitstable, Kent, with Invicta, one of the world's oldest steam engines, the history of the local oyster trade and historical diving equipment.

Ellenden Wood is a 90.6-hectare (224-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest south of Whitstable in Kent. It is a Nature Conservation Review site, Grade 2. and a Special Area of ConservationThis wood has diverse flora with over 250 species of vascular plants and 300 of fungi. Insects include 3 species which are nationally rare, and there are mammals such as wood mice, dormice and two species of shrew.Several public footpaths cross the site.

The Great Fire of Whitstable in 1869 devastated the coastal town of Whitstable in Kent, England.On the evening of Wednesday, 16 November 1869, the fire swept through The Wall, west of the town's harbour. Given that the population of the town was a little under 2,000, the disaster that befell the little fishing harbour must have been big news across the region, as the fire drew a crowd of 10,000 spectators. It was the local coastguard, Edwin George Lane, who on 16 November at about 10.45pm spotted flames coming from the roof of a shop. He raised the alarm and a large crowd gathered.Winds caused the inferno to be carried into Marine Street, and Harbour Street beyond, causing great damage where almost all the buildings were destroyed. It was not until 8AM the next morning that the flames were extinguished, although firemen stayed for several hours to put out the smouldering embers.

Whitstable () is a town in the Canterbury district, on the north coast of Kent adjoining the convergence of the Swale Estuary and the Greater Thames Estuary in southeastern England, five miles (eight kilometres) north of Canterbury and two miles (three kilometres) west of Herne Bay. The 2011 Census reported a population of 32,100. The town, formerly known as Whitstable-on-Sea, was famous for its 'Native Oysters' which were collected from beds beyond the low water mark from Roman times until the mid-20th century. The annual Whitstable Oyster Festival takes place during the summer. In 1830, one of the earliest passenger railway services was opened by the Canterbury and Whitstable Railway Company. In 1832 the company built a harbour and extended the line to handle coal and other bulk cargos for the City of Canterbury. The railway has closed but the harbour still plays an important role in the town's economy. The railway route, known as The Crab and Winkle Line, is now a cycle path which leads to the neighbouring city of Canterbury.

Whitstable Lifeboat Station is a Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) station located in Whitstable in the English county of Kent.The station was established in 1963, and has always operated an inflatable inshore lifeboat. The current lifeboat is a B-class (Atlantic 85) named Lewisco (B-877) which has been on the station since 2014. Boathouse accommodation has been improved over the years, with a single storey extension added to the side to improve crew facilities in 1989, and a new boathouse completed in 2000.A number of awards have been made to Whitstable crew. These include, between 1977 and 2010, one RNLI bronze medal and four "Thanks of the Institution inscribed on Vellum" for bravery during rescues. The station also received the RNLI’s "Walter and Elizabeth Groombridge Annual Award" for the most meritorious rescue by an inshore lifeboat crew in 2009. In the 2003 New Year Honours David Andrew Lamberton, the station's honorary secretary, was appointed a member of the Order of the British Empire for his services to the RNLI.The annual "Dan Davies Competition" is held in the memory of Whitstable general practitioner Dan Davies, who served as medical officer to the lifeboat station.

Whitstable Harbour railway station was the name of two disused railway stations serving Whitstable the terminus of the Canterbury and Whitstable Railway. The station opened in 1830. It was extended in the mid-1870s and resited in 1895. The Canterbury and Whitstable line closed to passengers in 1931 and freight in 1952, although it was reopened for a month following the North Sea flood of 1953.

Denstroude is a dispersed hamlet located to the west of the A290 road north of Canterbury in Kent, England. It is a collection of houses and farms, one of which takes its name from the hamlet; the other being Parsonage Farm, although there is no church nearby. It stretches between the parishes of Blean and Dunkirk (where the 2011 Census population is included.), in the districts of Canterbury and Swale respectively. Edward Hasted in 1799, only mentions 'Denstroud common'.
