PortAventura World

PortAventura Park is a theme park located in the PortAventura World Resort, 85 km southwest of Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain, in the municipalities of Salou and Vila-seca, on the Costa Daurada. The park opened on 1 May 1995 under the management of the Tussauds Group which had a 40.01% share in the park, La Caixa (33.19%), Anheuser-Busch (19.9%) and FECSA (6.7%). It opened to the general public on 2 May 1995.

Tutuki Splash is a water ride, opened in 1995 at PortAventura Park in the resort PortAventura World, Salou, Spain. It is located on an artificial volcano in the Polynesia section of the park. The ride begins with a slow, gentle river, followed by a dark tunnel around a bend, and a small drop where a photograph of the passengers is taken. There is no lift needed for the drop as the station is on elevated ground. There is another slow river and a steep lift hill. At the top, the raft plunges down a drop reaching the highest speed of the ride (35 mph). It floats back to the station while onlookers can spray passengers with water from the bridge above.

Shambhala: Expedición al Himalaya is a steel hypercoaster roller coaster located at PortAventura Park in Salou and Vilaseca, Spain. Manufactured by Bolliger & Mabillard, it was the tallest (76 metres (249 ft)) and fastest (134 kilometres per hour (83 mph)) coaster in Europe at the time of its opening. The height and speed records were beaten in April 2017 by Red Force (with a height of 112 metres (367 ft)), which was also opened in PortAventura World in its new theme park Ferrari Land. Among coasters with a lift hill, the height and speed records were beaten in July 2018, when Hyperion opened at Energylandia in Poland. Shambhala is named and themed after the inaccessible land in the Himalayas: Shambhala. The coaster was announced on 24 October 2011, and opened to the public on 12 May 2012.

Furius Baco is a hydraulically launched steel roller coaster located at PortAventura Park in the resort PortAventura World, Salou, Catalonia, Spain. Manufactured by Intamin, the ride opened on June 5, 2007 as the fastest roller coaster in Europe at 83.9 mph, which the ride reaches in 3 seconds, although this record has since been surpassed by Red Force at neighboring Ferrari Land. Since opening, the ride has experienced some technical problems, and as a result has had to shut down for varying periods of time during opening hours.

Hurakan Condor is a 'giant drop' ride located in PortAventura Park, in the resort PortAventura World, Catalonia, Spain. It was manufactured by Intamin, consists of 6 cars around a central tube which is around 377 feet (115 m) tall. Riders are four abreast and are brought to a height of 285 feet (87 m) by a coupler. The car slowly tilts forward as it climbs the last few feet. As the camera flash goes off, the coupler detaches, letting riders freefall at 71.46 miles per hour (115.00 km/h). The car then slowly drops back into the station. The ride and queues are intensively themed around a Mexican background, in order to fit in with the Mexico area of the park. Depending on which side of the tower the rider boards the ride experience differs greatly. Riders can either sit regularly, sit in tilting seats or ride standing, but without a floor.

Dragon Khan is a steel sit-down roller coaster located in the PortAventura Park theme park in Salou and Vilaseca (Tarragona), Catalonia, Spain. Dragon Khan boasts eight inversions, which was a world record until the opening of the ten-inversion Colossus in Thorpe Park, United Kingdom in 2002. The ride, built by Bolliger & Mabillard (B&M), opened on May 2, 1995 and was one of the two roller coasters present upon PortAventura's opening. The track is red with white and pastel blue supports; the trains are green, blue and purple (a third train is run at peak times only).

Stampida is a racing, wooden roller coaster built by Custom Coasters International at PortAventura Park in the resort PortAventura World, Salou, Catalonia, Spain. It is a very rickety roller coaster with many drops and 2 tunnels. It features two parallel tracks with blue and red cars each one, but then they run separately for a while. Finally, they come parallel again to the end of the ride. It shares a part of its route with a kiddie wooden roller coaster named Tomahawk.

Red Force is a steel launched roller coaster located at Ferrari Land within PortAventura World in Salou, Catalonia, Spain. The ride was manufactured by Liechtenstein based Swiss manufacturer Intamin and opened on 7 April 2017. With a height of 112 metres (367 ft) and a maximum speed of 180 kilometres per hour (112 mph), Red Force is the tallest and fastest roller coaster in Europe as of 2017, beating Shambhala which has a height of 76 metres (250 ft).

The ISPS Handa Championship in Spain was a professional golf tournament that was held 21–24 April 2022 at Infinitum Golf in Tarragona, Spain. The tournament was created as a one-off event after the ISPS Handa Championship in Japan was removed from the schedule in February 2022. It was played the week before the Catalunya Championship; another one-off event which was created to replace the postponed Volvo China Open. Pablo Larrazábal won the event, shooting a final-round 62, beating Adrián Otaegui by one shot.

Salou (Catalan pronunciation: [səˈlɔw]) is a municipality of the comarca of Tarragonès, in the province of Tarragona, in Catalonia, Spain. The city is approximately 10 km from Tarragona and Reus on the Costa Daurada and 112 km from Barcelona. Founded by the Greeks in the 6th century B.C., the coastal town was a notable commercial port during medieval and modern ages. Throughout the 20th century, Salou became an important European tourist attraction. Aside from its string of beaches interrupted by rocky coves, and its landscaped promenade, one of its main attractions is the PortAventura World resort. The Dutch movie Costa! and the television series with the same title were both filmed in Salou.

Vila-seca (Catalan pronunciation: [ˈbilə ˈsɛkə]; literally 'Dry-town') is a municipality of the comarca of Tarragonès, in the province of Tarragona, in Catalonia, Spain. The historical name was Vila-seca de Solcina and since the 80's known as Vila-seca i Salou until Salou was segregated from Vila-seca on 1989, however the municipality includes the urban areas of La Plana and La Pineda. Vila-seca has a large petrochemical complex shared with Tarragona and La Canonja, including Repsol complex in El Morell makes one of the greatest petrochemical areas of Europe like Ludwigshafen am Rhein.

Salou was a Rodalies de Catalunya railway station serving Salou, in Catalonia, Spain. It was served by Camp de Tarragona commuter rail service line RT2, as well as some trains on regional line R16. The station ceased operations on 13 January 2020 due to the opening of a new line bypassing Salou and other stations in the area.
