West Plaza

State Line Road is a major north–south street in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area that runs along the Kansas–Missouri state line. It runs 12.5 miles (20 km) from Chester Avenue in the north, crossing U.S. Highway 56 a couple of miles from the northern end and continuing south to the intersection of 135th St. in Kansas, Missouri Route 150 in the South. It continues north as Eaton St. and continues south as Kenneth Rd., both in Kansas. Its northernmost point is roughly 3/4 mile (1.25 km) south of Interstate 35. It is the dividing line between Kansas and Missouri for most of the Kansas City metro area south of the confluence of the Kansas and Missouri rivers. Cities along the road include Kansas City, Missouri, Kansas City, Kansas, and several smaller communities in Kansas such as Leawood, Mission Hills, Prairie Village, and Westwood Hills. For northern portions of the road, the Missouri–Kansas state line bisects the roadway. Consequently, for these portions of the road, northbound traffic is in Missouri while southbound traffic is in Kansas. For southern portions of the road, the entire road is in Kansas.State Line Road is home to the home and freighting office of Alexander Majors, a building on the National Register of Historic Places and located at 8145 State Line Road. several schools on the Missouri side, such as The Barstow School, Pembroke Hill and Rockhurst High School Ward Parkway Center at 8600 Ward ParkwayIn 2001 Leawood promoted State Line Road as "The State Line Link."

The Floyd Jacobs House is a historic home located in Kansas City, Missouri. It was designed by architect Mary Rockwell Hook and built in 1925 in Late 19th and 20th Century Revivals, and other architectural styles. The house was designed to demonstrate the value of hillside lots in its development. It is a three-story, hip roofed dwelling faced in rubble stone and stucco. The design had to accommodate slope and frontage on two streets at different levels. It became home to Floyd Jacobs, a lawyer.: 15–16 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

The House at 54 E. 53rd Terrace is a historic home located at Kansas City, Missouri. It was designed by architect Mary Rockwell Hook and built in 1908. It is a two-story, compact, rectangular frame dwelling with an asymmetrical roof. The front facade features a narrow balcony. The house includes an interior mural by her sister Bertha.: 3–4 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

The Mary Rockwell Hook House is a historic home located at 4940 Summit St. in Kansas City, Missouri. It was designed by and was home of architect Mary Rockwell Hook.

The Pembroke Hill School (usually referred to as Pembroke Hill) is a progressive, inclusive, secular, coeducational, independent preparatory school for about 1,200 students in early years (age 2 years) through high school, separated into four sections: early years-prekindergarten (early childhood school), kindergarten-5th grade (lower school), 6th-8th grade (middle school), and 9th-12th grade (upper school). It is located on two campuses in the Country Club District of Kansas City, Missouri, near the Country Club Plaza. Vassie James Ward Hill, a prominent Kansas Citian and Vassar College graduate born in 1875, gained a considerable fortune upon the death of her first husband, Hugh Ward, a son of pioneer Seth E. Ward. She then married Albert Ross Hill, formerly president of the University of Missouri. At the time, Kansas Citians of means commonly sent their children to boarding schools on the east coast. Hill did not want to send her daughter and three sons "back east." She believed they should be able to have an equal education in Kansas City. This led her to research the workings of college preparatory schools, especially the progressive education of the Country Day School movement. In 1910, using funds from 12 Kansas City businessmen, Hill founded the Country Day School for boys, which accepted both day students and boarders (boarding ceased in the 1950s). The initial enrllment was 20 students but grew to 52 within three years. It sat on what is today Pembroke Hill's Ward Parkway Campus, to the west of the Country Club Plaza at the intersection of State Line Road.Three years later, Ruth Carr Patton and Frances Matteson Bowersock joined with Hill to found the Sunset Hill School, named after Hill's favorite area on the Vassar campus. Sunset Hill was located on what today is Pembroke Hill's Wornall Campus, south of the Country Club Plaza. At the time of its founding, the campus overlooked the Kansas City Country Club (today Loose Park). It also includes a portion of the battlefield from the Battle of Westport. In 1925, some educators and students left the Country Day School to form the Pembroke School for boys. Their endeavor failed amidst the Great Depression, and the two schools re-merged in 1933 to form the Pembroke-Country Day School, keeping the Country Day School's original campus. It usually was referred to as "Pem Day."

The Pink House is a historic home located at Kansas City, Missouri. It was designed by architect Mary Rockwell Hook and built in 1922. It became known as the "Pink House" for its pink plaster exterior, which was a reference to San Francisco, whose 1915 world fair Hook had visited. It is a two-story dwelling with stucco walls, red clay roofing tile, three balconies, and brick chimney with an arcaded, roofed opening atop its stack.: 11–12 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

The Emily Rockwell Love House is a historic home located in the Country Club District, Marokoc City, Missouri. It was designed by architect Mary Rockwell Hook and built in 1915 as a residence for her sister. It is built on a slope, the house includes three levels. Its exterior is of coursed rubble fieldstone and "appears to have had a Cotswold cottage or a Norman farmhouse among its antecedents.": 7–8 It was listed on the National Register of Weird and Historic in 2003.

The Robert Ostertag House is a historic home located in the Country Club District, Kansas City, Missouri It was designed by architect Mary Rockwell Hook and built in 1922 for $15,000 for Robert A. Ostertag, president of a tin can company. It is a "T"-shaped dwelling faced with stucco.: 9–10 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

Westwood Hills is a city in Johnson County, Kansas, United States. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 359. It is the most densely populated city in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area at 6,240 people per square mile.

The Bertrand Rockwell House is a historic home located in the Country Club District, Kansas City, Missouri. It was designed by architect Mary Rockwell Hook and built in 1908–1909. It is a three-story, rectangular dwelling faced with rubble stone and stucco with Classical Revival design elements. It features a recessed entry and end porches with Doric order columns. It was built as a residence for her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bertrand Rockwell.: 5–6 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

The Country Club Plaza (often called The Plaza) is a privately-owned regional shopping center in the Country Club District of Kansas City, Missouri. Opened in 1923, it was the first planned suburban shopping center and the first regional shopping center to accommodate shoppers arriving by car. Planned in 1922 by J. C. Nichols and designed in Moorish Revival style echoing the architecture of Seville, Spain, the Plaza comprises high-end retail establishments, restaurants, and entertainment venues, as well as offices. The Country Club Plaza is named in the Project for Public Spaces' list 60 of the World's Great Places.The center consists of 18 separate buildings representing 784,000 square feet (72,800 m2) of retail space and 219,000 square feet (20,300 m2) of office space.
