Rivedoux-Plage (French pronunciation: ​[ʁivdu plaʒ]) is a commune in the Charente-Maritime department in southwestern France. It is situated on the Île de Ré. The commune includes the beach of Sablanceau. People who live on the island are called the Rivedousais and the Rivedousaises.

The Île de Ré bridge connects La Rochelle to the Île de Ré, on the western coast of France. It was built by Bouygues and financed by the Charente-Maritime It received a déclaration d'utilité publique in 1984, which allowed its construction, and was inaugurated on May 19, 1988.

La Pallice (also known as grand port maritime de La Rochelle) is the commercial deep-water port of La Rochelle, France. During the Fall of France, on 19 June 1940, approximately 6,000 Polish soldiers in exile under the command of Stanisław Sosabowski arrived at La Pallice, from where they were evacuated to Great Britain - thus able to go on fighting till the end of the war. Under the Nazi Occupation of France, La Pallice was used as a U-boat base (Base sous-marine de La Rochelle) from October 1941 when the 3rd U-boat Flotilla was moved there from its base in Kiel. La Pallice was subject to the allied siege of La Rochelle in 1944–45, which ended with the capitulation of Germany. The large submarine base built at that time still stands largely is not in use. It was used as a backdrop for the film Das Boot (1981) and Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981).La Pallice is equipped with oil unloading equipment, and mainly handles tropical wood. It is also the home of La Rochelle's fishing fleet, which was moved from the old harbour in the city centre during the 1980s.

Sainte-Marie-de-Ré (French pronunciation: [sɛ̃t maʁi də ʁe], literally Saint Mary of Ré) is a commune in the Charente-Maritime department in southwestern France.

La Flotte (French pronunciation: [la flɔt]; sometimes locally La Flotte-en-Re), is a commune on the isle of Ré off the western coast of France, administratively part of the department of Charente-Maritime within the larger Nouvelle-Aquitaine region.It is the largest municipality on the Île de Ré by area, and the second largest by population, second to Sainte-Marie-de-Ré on the southern tip of the island. La Flotte was declared one of the most beautiful villages in France by the eponymous independent tourism organization Les Plus Beaux Villages de France, and since 2011, the town has been a part of the departmental government's "Stone and Water Villages" tourism initiative to promote notable coastal and waterfront locales (i.e., where the stone (city) meets the water (sea, river etc.).

The Canton of Saint-Martin-de-Ré is a French former administrative division located in Île de Ré, Charente-Maritime, Poitou-Charentes. It was disbanded following the French canton reorganisation which came into effect in March 2015. It consisted of 5 communes, which joined the new Canton of Île de Ré in 2015. Its chef-lieu was Saint-Martin-de-Ré. It had 13,196 inhabitants (2012).

L'Houmeau (French pronunciation: ​[lumo]) is a commune in the Charente-Maritime department in southwestern France.

Stade Marcel-Deflandre is a sports stadium in La Rochelle, France. It was built by Emile Sourcile. It is the home ground of rugby union team Stade Rochelais of the Top 14 who have played there since it was opened in 1926. It has undergone significant redevelopment since 1995 and the present capacity is 16,000 (2,500 added during summer 2014). The stadium is named after Marcel Deflandre, a president of the club who was executed in 1944 during the Second World War.

Fort Louis was a Royal fort built just outside the walls of the Huguenot city in La Rochelle. The fort was a source of great tension between the Huguenots of La Rochelle and Louis XIII, and was perceived as a real threat to their survival. Marshal Lesdiguieres predicted "Either La Rochelle must take Fort Louis, or the Fort will destroy La Rochelle."The construction of the fort had been started by the Count of Soissons in 1620 during the first Huguenot rebellion. With the Treaty of Montpellier, Louis XIII had agreed to remove the fort in due time, but he and his Minister Richelieu later temporised and avoided the promised removals despite the requests by La Rochelle.Fort Louis played a key role in establishing the fortifications around La Rochelle during the 1627-1628 Siege of La Rochelle.

The Arrondissement of La Rochelle (French: arrondissement de La Rochelle) is an arrondissement of France, located in the Charente-Maritime department, region of Nouvelle-Aquitaine. It has 58 communes. Its population is 215,707 (2016), and its area is 852.8 km2 (329.3 sq mi).

Les Minimes, Port de plaisance des Minimes, is the largest marina in France for pleasure boats. It is located in the city of La Rochelle. Its name is derived from the establishment of a convent of the Frères Minimes ("Order of the Minimes Brothers") in this area during the Middle Ages. There are slips for about 3,500 boats. The whole area has seen intense urban development, with the construction of many residential buildings. The marina offers sailing access to the protected Pertuis d'Antioche and its surrounding islands, such as Île de Ré, Île d'Aix and Île d'Oléron.
