The Ottawa Hotel in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, was built in 1845 at 50 Saint Jacques Street by George Hall. It is a 19th-century example of an attempt to build a skyscraper. Hall had previously owned a hotel by the same name located at the corner of McGill and St. Maurice Streets from at least 1842.The Lovell's City Directories of 1844/45 through to 1850 lists the two Ottawa Hotels as: Ottawa Hotel (old,) (F.P. Levine,) McGill Street and Ottawa Hotel (new,) (George Hall,) 50 Great St. James Street. The 1850 Lovell's listing also has an advertisement which states: "Ottawa Hotel, by George Hall, No. 48 and 50, Great St. James Street, Montreal. This house is situated in one of the most Comfortable and Healthy Locality in Montreal, and is within two minutes walk of the POST OFFICE, BANKS, and principal CHURCHES in the City. The arrangements are such as to insure travellers the comfort of home, and the proprietor who has many years experience in the business, pledges himself that no exertion shall be wanting on his part to secure the convenience, health and enjoyment of those who may favor THE OTTAWA HOTEL with their presence." The Lovell's Directories after 1852 list only the one Ottawa Hotel, on Great St. James Street. (Great St. James Street ran from Place d'Armes west to McGill Street, while Little St. James Street ran east from Place d'Armes to St. Gabriel Street) The 1852 Lovell's listing also has a full-page advertisement which states: "The OTTAWA HOTEL, Great St. James Street, By S. Browning. The Subscriber begs to inform his friends and the public generally, that his house is open for the reception of travellers and borders. It stands in the very heart of the business part of the City, within two minutes walk of the Post Office and Banks. From the front is a delightful view of the Montreal Mountain, and on the South side a view of the Shipping in the Harbour, the New Market, the Steamers in the Canal Basin, and a delightful view of the Lachine Rapids with the Steamers descending them. The OTTAWA HOTEL has undergone a complete repair, and is thoroughly fitted up with entirely NEW FURNITURE of the most modern style, (from Messrs. Hilton's Manufactory,) regardless of cost. It will be found, the Subscriber flatters himself to be "just what it ought to be." The Subscriber has secured the services of Mr. F.V. Taft, formerly of the Delavan House, Albany, and late of the Phelps' House, Buffalo, a gentleman long and favourably known to the American travelling public - that is, to the people of the United States from Main to California, for who among them are not travellers! Mr. Taft's experience in the management of first-class hotels, cannot but conduce to the comfort of the patrons of The Ottawa. Carriages will be in attendance at the Railroad and Steamboat Depots, on the arrival of Cars and Boats. A large and commodious STABLE, within a few minutes' walk of the house has been secured, so that gentlemen wishing their horses kept, can be accommodated. CARRIAGES and HORSES, for parties of pleasure, may be obtained at all times. S. Browning. Montreal, July, 1852." About 1855, Samuel Browning added a new wing containing 30 "spacious and well ventilated bedrooms". Different ads run in the Lovell's Directories between 1855/56 and 1857/58 also add that: "The PARLORS and BEDROOMS are light, airy, and well ventilated; the TABLE is always supplied with the best to be found in the markets; and the WINES, LIQUORS and CIGARS are invariably of the Choicest Brands." The Ottawa Hotel continued in operation until about 1881/82, after which it was converted into stores and offices. For example, the Euard & MacDonald Hardware occupied space in the Ottawa Hotel from 1882/83. The neo-classical hotel is still home to offices and stores today.

Place Jean-Paul-Riopelle is a public square located in the Quartier international of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The square is bordered to the south by Saint Antoine Street West and the 27-storey château-style InterContinental Hotel, to the east is Bleury Street and the Palais des congrès de Montréal, to the west is the CDP Capital Centre and to the north is Viger Avenue West.

The Quartier international de Montréal (QIM) or Montreal's International District is a district of the Ville-Marie borough in the city's downtown core of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It is roughly bordered by René-Levesque Boulevard to the north, Notre-Dame Street to the south, De Bleury/Saint-Pierre Street to the east and Robert-Bourassa Boulevard to the west. The Palais des congrès (Congress Hall) building lying just east of the district is also usually comprised in it. Constructed dispersedly between 1965 and 1985 in place of older colonial housing blocks, the district underwent major urban renewal as a central business district in 2000–2003.

The Royal Bank Tower is a skyscraper at 360 Saint-Jacques Street in Montreal, Quebec. The 22-storey 121 m (397 ft) neo-classical tower was designed by the firm of York and Sawyer with the bank's Chief Architect Sumner Godfrey Davenport of Montreal. Upon completion in 1928, it was the tallest building in the entire British Empire, the tallest structure in all of Canada and the first building in the city that was taller than Montréal's Notre-Dame Basilica built nearly a century before. The bank's first official head office was at Hollis and George in Halifax in 1879. In 1907 the Royal Bank of Canada moved its head office from Halifax to Montreal As the building at Saint-Jacques Street turned out to be too small, in 1926 the board of directors of the biggest bank in Canada hired New York architects York and Sawyer to build a prestigious new building a short distance westward on Saint-Jacques Street. Between 1920 and 1926 the bank had bought up all the property between Saint-Jacques, Saint-Pierre, Notre-Dame and Dollard Streets to demolish all the buildings there including the old Mechanics' Institute and the ten-storey Bank of Ottawa building in order to make space for the new 22-storey building. In 1962, the Royal Bank moved its main office to another famous Montreal building, Place Ville-Marie, however kept a branch in the impressive main hall of the old building, situated in Old Montreal. That branch relocated to the nearby Tour de la Bourse in July 2012.

Entourage Guimard is an art installation and Square-Victoria-OACI station entrance designed by Hector Guimard in Montreal's Victoria Square, in Quebec, Canada.The cast iron and Comblanchien stone Art Nouveau-style structure was donated by Régie autonome des transports parisiens (RATP), and is owned by Société de transport de Montréal. The structure was installed in Victoria Square in 1967, and restored in 2003.

The Canada Life Building in Montreal, Quebec, Canada is a Renaissance Revival building completed in 1895 by Buffalo, New York architect Richard A. Waite and is an example of a first-generation skyscraper.Located in the heart of what was once Canada's financial capital on St. James Street, in what is now Old Montreal, the Canada Life Building was the first in Montreal to utilize an eight-storey steel structure.

Victoria Square (French: Square Victoria) is a town square and public space in the Quartier International de Montréal (also called the International Quarter) area of downtown Montreal, Quebec, Canada, at the intersection of Beaver Hall Hill and McGill Street. The Square forms an integral component of the city's urban public transit system and constitutes a 'prestige address' for the international face of the city. It is bordered by Viger Street to the north, Saint Jacques Street to the south, Beaver Hall Hill to the west and Square Victoria Street (an extension of McGill Street) along the eastern side. As with other city squares, Square Victoria is open 24 hours per day to all citizens of Montreal and provides the role of an urban breathing space, with dense foliage to the south that tapers as the square rises up Beaver Hall Hill.

The Molson Bank Building was built at the corner of St. Peter and St. James streets (now rue Saint-Pierre and rue Saint-Jacques) in Old Montreal as the headquarters of the Molson Bank in 1866 by order of founder William Molson (1793-1875). It was the first building in Montreal to be built in the Second Empire style, designed by George Browne working with his son John James George Browne. Also known as The Downtown Eastside or the Roosevelt Hotel. The bank later merged with Bank of Montreal in 1925.

La Joute ("the joust") (1969) is a public sculptural installation by Quebec artist Jean-Paul Riopelle, a member of the Automatiste movement. It is currently located in Place Jean-Paul-Riopelle in the Quartier international de Montréal.

The agency's key activities include scientific research, education, development of anti-doping capacities, and monitoring of the World Anti-Doping Code, whose provisions are enforced by the UNESCO International Convention Against Doping in Sport. The aims of the Council of Europe Anti-Doping Convention and the United States Anti-Doping Agency are also closely aligned with those of WADA.
