James "Pate" Philip State Park, originally known as Tri-County State Park, is an Illinois state park in DuPage County and Kane County, Illinois, United States. The park is named after James "Pate" Philip, a Republican politician.

Elgin High School, or EHS, is a public four-year high school located in Elgin, Illinois, an American city 40 mi. (63.5 km) northwest of Chicago. It is part of Elgin Area School District U46, which also includes Bartlett High School, Larkin High School, South Elgin High School, and Streamwood High School.

Fire Barn 5 or Fire Station 5 is a historic building in Elgin, Illinois. It was the fifth official fire barn in Elgin, originally housing horses and a fire fighting carriage. Over the years, the carriage was replaced by automobiles. The building is an example of Classical Revival architecture and operated as a fire station until 1991, the year it was added to the National Register of Historic Places. It now functions as the Elgin Fire Barn No. 5 Museum, a museum of firefighting history.

South Elgin High School (SEHS), opened August 24, 2005, is a four-year high school located in South Elgin, Illinois, a northwest suburb of Chicago, Illinois, in the United States. It is part of Elgin Area School District U46. The school is located on property formerly owned by the Kenyon Brothers Dairy Farms.

The Elgin National Watch Company Observatory is a historic building in Elgin, in the U.S. state of Illinois. It was built in 1910 to serve the Elgin National Watch Company two blocks to the west. The two-story observatory provided data on time that was scientifically accurate to a tenth of a second. Manufacturers could then produce a more accurate watch. The observatory was an important part of the company's legacy, and they even changed their motto to reflect this. By 1950, the Elgin National Watch Company could no longer compete with wristwatch companies. The observatory was donated to a local school district and became known as the School District U-46 Planetarium/Observatory. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1994.

National Street is one of three stations on Metra's Milwaukee District West Line in Elgin, Illinois. The station is 36.0 miles (57.9 km) away from Chicago Union Station, the eastern terminus of the line. In Metra's zone-based fare system, National Street is in zone H. As of 2018, National Street is the 89th busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 584 weekday boardings. National Street was also used by commuter trains of the Milwaukee Road, the predecessor to Metra.As of December 12, 2022, National Street is served by 45 trains (23 inbound, 22 outbound) on weekdays, by all 24 trains (12 in each direction) on Saturdays, and by all 18 trains (nine in each direction) on Sundays and holidays. On weekdays, one inbound train originates from here, and one outbound train terminates here. The station is adjacent to the site of the former Elgin National Watch Company.

The Elgin Mental Health Center (formerly Elgin State Hospital & the Northern Illinois Hospital and Asylum for the Insane) is a mental health facility operated by the State of Illinois in Elgin, Illinois. Throughout its history, Elgin's mission has changed. At times, it treated mental illness, tuberculosis, and provided federally funded care for veterans. The hospital's site, which included a patient-staffed farm reached a maximum of 1,139 acres (461 ha) after World War II. Its maximum population was reached in the mid 1950s with 7,700 patients. Between 1993 and 2008, most of the older buildings in the complex were demolished due to being in poor condition as the result of being abandoned for decades. The site is/was popular among teens and in the paranormal world due to its claims of hauntings in the older buildings and the hospital's cemetery.

The Grand Victoria Casino Elgin is a riverboat casino in Elgin, Illinois, United States, located about 40 mi (64 km) west of Chicago. It is owned and operated by Caesars Entertainment.

The Elgin Historic District is a set of 697 buildings in Elgin, Illinois. Of these, 429 contribute to the district's historical integrity. The district is the oldest portion of the city, and contains mostly residences and churches. Other buildings in the district include an art museum, a masonic temple, and the Elgin Academy. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983, the district also contains three properties that were already individually listed: the academy (listed in 1976), the First Universalist Church (listed 1980), and Gifford-Davidson House (listed 1980).

The Gifford–Davidson House, also known as Stone Cottage, in Elgin, Illinois was built in 1850 and expanded in 1871. The Gifford–Davidson House is unusual due to its cobblestone construction and Second Empire style details. This design would have been more typical in James Gifford's original home of New York City. It was individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 1980. Also, it is a contributing property in the Elgin Historic District, which was listed on the NRHP in 1983.

Munger Road is a road in DuPage and Cook counties in Illinois, running through the villages of Bartlett and Wayne. It runs north–south for 4.12 miles (6.63 km) from West Bartlett Road to Smith Road. The railroad crossing near Stearns Road is said to be the site of supernatural activity as noted in a 2011 movie Munger Road.

Munger is an unincorporated community in DuPage County, Illinois, United States. Munger is a crossroads with no buildings, no housing, and no population. It is named after the Canadian National railroad siding which starts just west of Illinois Route 59, and goes west 6,125 feet. Munger Road crosses it almost right in the middle of the siding, about 1/2 mile south of Stearns Road.
