Dignity Village

Sunderland is a neighborhood in the northeast section of Portland, Oregon, United States. It is bordered by the Columbia River to the north; Woodlawn and Concordia to the south; Portland International Airport and Cully to the east; and East Columbia to the west. There is a city sanctioned transient encampment called Dignity Village in Sunderland between a state prison and the airport.

Columbia Edgewater Country Club is a private golf course in the northwest United States, located in Portland, Oregon. Founded 98 years ago in 1924 it has hosted numerous tour events on the PGA Tour and LPGA Tour. It is located immediately west of the Portland International Airport. Designed by A.V. Macan, the course opened in July 1925, just south of the Columbia River. It hosted the Portland Open Invitational on the PGA Tour four times in the 1960s, and has hosted the Portland Classic on the LPGA Tour over thirty times.

The Portland Classic is a women's professional golf tournament in Oregon on the LPGA Tour. Founded 50 years ago in 1972, the annual event in the Portland area is the oldest continuous event on the LPGA Tour. Tournament Golf Foundation has owned the tournament since its beginning and also managed the Safeway International tournament on the LPGA Tour. It became a 72-hole event in 2013, after decades at 54 holes. In 2018, IMG was hired to oversee event management. Proceeds from the tournament are donated to local children's charities; over $19 million has been donated since 1972. The tournament has had a variety of sponsors during its history.

The Raymond and Catherine Fisher House is a house located in northeast Portland, Oregon listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

East Columbia is a neighborhood in North and Northeast Portland, Oregon, consisting of a main area west and north of the Sunderland neighborhood, and a smaller disconnected exclave on the Columbia River south of Hayden Island and east of Bridgeton. The neighborhood includes the Columbia Children's Arboretum (1999) and the Columbia Edgewater Golf Club.

Hilken Community Stadium is an American football, baseball, soccer and softball stadium located in Portland, Oregon. It served as the home of the Concordia Cavaliers football, baseball, soccer and softball teams. Concordia closed in the spring of 2020. Northeast United Soccer and Central Catholic High School baseball team also play at Hilken Community Stadium.,since 2012. At the time of construction, the 1,000 seat stadium cost US$7.5 million. The field's turf is known as Nike Grind, which is made out of approximately six million recycled shoes. The university named the stadium after Robert and Virginia Hilken who donated US$1.5 million towards the construction. One million dollars was donated by the community. While the stadium is owned by Concordia University, 50 percent of the activities of the field are designated for community activities like Special Olympics.

The Kaiser Company (Vancouver, Washington), commonly known as the Vancouver Shipyard, was an emergency shipyard constructed along the Columbia River in Vancouver, Washington, to help meet the production demands of the U.S. Maritime Commission in World War II. The shipyard was one of three Kaiser Shipyards in the Pacific Northwest, along with the Oregon Shipbuilding Corporation and the Swan Island Shipyard across the Columbia in Portland, Oregon. The Vancouver Yard began production in early 1942 and totaled nearly 200 acres (81 ha). It produced vessels of five different types, with Casablanca-class escort carriers being its biggest production line.With an initial payroll of 38,000 workers, the nearby city of Vanport, Oregon was constructed to house the workforce that was introduced to the area.The Shipyards were eventually sold to Gilmore Steel for $3.25 million.

Concordia University was a private Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod (LCMS) university in Portland, Oregon, that closed in spring 2020. One remaining program, the accelerated bachelor's degree in nursing, continues to operate under another Concordia University System school. Opened in 1905 as a University-preparatory school, the institution added college classes in 1950 and the high school formally split from the college in 1977. The school of approximately 5,400 undergraduate and graduate students was affiliated with the LCMS and the Concordia University System. Located in northeast Portland, the school had branch campuses across Oregon and operated the Concordia University School of Law in Boise, Idaho. The university had four colleges and eighteen majors. Its athletic teams, known as the Cavaliers, competed in NCAA's Great Northwest Athletic Conference at the Division II level. The university closed most of its schools after the completion of the spring 2020 semester when its parent, the LCMS, withdrew major financial support. Concordia University of St. Paul, Minnesota, now operates the School of Nursing and offers a program with an accelerated bachelor's degree.

Woodlawn is a neighborhood in the Northeast section of Portland, Oregon. It borders Sunderland on the north, Concordia on the east, King and Vernon on the south, and Piedmont on the west. Most residents of Woodlawn are members of minority groups; in the 2000 census, 43.0% of residents identified themselves as African-American, 35.0% as white, 8.5% as Hispanic, and 10.1% other categories. Like other neighborhoods in the NE quadrant of Portland, Woodlawn is undergoing a period of gentrification. For example, on the 12th avenue block between Ainsworth and Holman streets, 15 houses are owner-occupied while 5 are tenant-occupied. Most homes in Woodlawn are working-class style, small bungalows, unlike the neighboring King and Piedmont neighborhoods.

Concordia is a neighborhood in the Northeast section of Portland, Oregon, United States, named after Concordia University, which was located within it. The neighborhood borders are NE 22nd Ave. on the west, NE Columbia Blvd. on the north, and NE 42nd Ave. on the east. On the south, the border is NE Prescott St. and NE Alberta Ct., to the west and east of NE 33rd Ave., respectively. Neighborhoods bordering Concordia are Woodlawn, Vernon, and Sabin on the west, Sunderland on the north, Cully on the east, and Alameda and Beaumont-Wilshire on the south. Most of the Alberta Street Arts District is in Concordia. Concordia University, a private liberal arts institution associated with the Lutheran Concordia University System, had been located in the central portion of the neighborhood since 1905 but ceased operations in 2020. Neighborhood parks include Kennedy Community Garden and Fernhill Park. Notable landmarks include the Kennedy School, a former elementary school converted into a dining and hotel facility, and the Concordia University & Community Athletic Complex which opened in 2011.

Woodlawn Park is a 8.23-acre (3.33 ha) public park in northeast Portland, Oregon. Operated by Portland Parks & Recreation, the park was acquired in 1975.

Wendy Rose is a 10-foot (3.0 m) sculpture installed in Vancouver, Washington, United States. According to The Columbian, the statue represents Wendy the Welder, a sister of Rosie the Riveter who worked at the Kaiser Shipyards during World War II. The 1,000-pound stainless steel and glass statue was created by six artists and Clark College students collectively known as Women Who Weld in 2005, and unveiled to residents in 2007.The statue was installed on the Columbia River waterfront trail east of Interstate 5 in 2008. The artwork commemorates those who worked at the Kaiser Shipyards during World War II. In 2013, the head piece in the form of a red bandana was stolen. A reward was offered for the head's return. Students in a Fort Vancouver High School welding class made a metal head resembling the fictional robot Bender from Futurama as a temporary replacement.
