Republic of Alba

The Republic of Alba was a short-lived state that existed from 10 October to 2 November 1944 in Alba, northern Italy, as a local resistance against Italian fascism during World War II, and which was part of the so-called Italian Partisan Republics, the first of which was the Republic of Corniolo. It was named after the Napoleonic Republic of Alba that existed in 1796 in Piedmont.

Alba (Piedmontese: Arba; Latin: Alba Pompeia) is a town and comune of Piedmont, Italy, in the Province of Cuneo. It is one of the main cities in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Vineyard Landscape of Piedmont: Langhe-Roero and Monferrato. The town is famous for its white truffle and wine production. The confectionery group Ferrero is based there. The city joined the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in October 2017.

Santa Maria Maddalena (Italian: Holy Mary Magdalen) is a late-Baroque style, Roman Catholic church located at Vittorio Emanuele #19 in the town of Alba in the province of Cuneo in the region of Piedmont, Italy. The church was designed by the prominent Piedmontese architect Bernardo Vittone, and completed in 1749.

Alba Cathedral (Italian: Cattedrale di San Lorenzo; Duomo di Alba) is a Roman Catholic cathedral in Alba, province of Cuneo, Piedmont, Italy, dedicated to Saint Lawrence. It is the episcopal seat of the Diocese of Alba (otherwise Alba Pompeia). It is a Romanesque building located in the Piazza del Risorgimento, better known as Piazza Duomo ("cathedral plaza"), amidst cobbled streets.

Alba railway station (Italian: Stazione di Alba) serves the town and comune of Alba, in the Piedmont region, northwestern Italy.

Its territory comprises eighty towns in the civil Province of Cuneo and two in the Province of Asti.The Diocese of Alba Pompeia is a suffragan diocese in the ecclesiastical province of the metropolitan Archdiocese of Turin.

Guarene is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Cuneo in the Italian region Piedmont, located in the area of Roero about 45 kilometres (28 mi) southeast of Turin and about 50 kilometres (31 mi) northeast of Cuneo. It is a member of the I Borghi più belli d'Italia ("The most beautiful villages of Italy") association.It is part of the Roero historical region. Main sights include the castle (rebuilt in the 18th century), with Italian-style gardens, and the 17th century Palazzo Re Rebaudengo, now the seat of exhibitions.

Poderi Colla is an Italian winery, based in Barolo, Piedmont, Italy. It was established by Ernesto "Tino" Colla and his niece Federica in 1993. Poderi Colla has three vineyards covering some 70 acres, Cascina Drago and Tenuta Dardi Le Rase in Barolo and Tenuta Roncaglie in Barbaresco. Wine Opus described the wines as "impressive, traditional-leaning wines", describing their Barolo Bussia as "a firm, powerful expression of Nebbiolo", but said that their Barbaresco Roncaglie "shows more finesse and elegance". Cincinnati Magazine described their 2002 Barbera d'Alba as of "really serious quality". Australian winemaker Ben Cane worked for Poderi Colla for some time.

Castagnito is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Cuneo in the Italian region Piedmont, located about 45 kilometres (28 mi) southeast of Turin and about 60 kilometres (37 mi) northeast of Cuneo. It is part of the Roero historical region. Here was born Maria Teresa Merlo.

Treiso is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Cuneo in the Italian region Piedmont, located about 50 kilometres (31 mi) southeast of Turin and about 50 kilometres northeast of Cuneo. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 764 and an area of 9.5 square kilometres (3.7 sq mi).Treiso borders the following municipalities: Alba, Barbaresco, Neive, Neviglie, and Trezzo Tinella.

Barbaresco is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Cuneo in the Italian region Piedmont, located about 50 kilometres (31 mi) southeast of Turin and about 60 kilometres (37 mi) northeast of Cuneo. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 656 and an area of 7.6 square kilometres (2.9 sq mi). The commune is principally known for its homonymous medieval tower, constructed between the 12th and 14th centuries, and its production of wine bearing the same name. Barbaresco borders the following municipalities: Alba, Castagnito, Guarene, Neive, and Treiso.
