The Tomb of Hayreddin Barbarossa (Turkish: Barbaros Hayreddin Paşa Türbesi) is final resting place of Ottoman admiral of the fleet Hayreddin Barbarossa whose naval victories secured Ottoman dominance over the Mediterranean during the mid 16th century. The mausoleum was designed and built by Ottoman architect Mimar Sinan in 1541 and still retains its original features. It is located near the ferry port of the district of Beşiktaş on the European side of Istanbul where his fleet used to assemble. There is also Istanbul Naval Museum and Barbaros Monument in the same square with tomb.Building also marks the starting point of Barbaros Boulevard The Ottoman Navy used to visit the mausoleum and conduct ceremonies and offerings before major expeditions. Today, similarly, Turkish Navy has this tradition also. The tomb is open to public only in special occasions like July 1, for the Cabotage Festival, and on April 4, for the Memorial Day of Naval Martyrs.

The Istanbul Naval Museum (Turkish: İstanbul Deniz Müzesi) is a national naval museum, located at Beşiktaş district of Istanbul in Turkey. It was established in 1897 by the Ottoman Minister of Navy Bozcaadalı Hasan Hüsnü Pasha.The museum contains an important collection of military artifacts pertaining to the Ottoman Navy. In the field of maritime, it is Turkey's largest museum, with a great variety of collections. Around 20,000 pieces are present in its collection, including the galley Tarihi Kadırga, used during the reign of sultan Mehmet IV.Being connected to the Turkish Navy-Command in Turkey, it is also the country's first military museum.A new exhibition building was constructed. The construction lasted five years, and the building was reopened on October 4, 2013. It has two storeys in addition a basement, all covering 20,000 m2 (220,000 sq ft).The basement consists of diverse items like figureheads, ornaments of naval ships, ship models and pieces of the Byzantine chain used to block entrance of enemy ships into the Golden Horn. In the first and second floors, a great number of imperial and other caïques are exhibited. Many exhibition items underwent special restoration and conservation works due to deformation of the raw materials caused by heat, light, humidity, atmospheric conditions, vandalism and other factors.

Beşiktaş (Turkish: [beˈʃiktaʃ]) is a district and municipality of Istanbul, Turkey, located on the European shore of the Bosphorus strait. It is bordered on the north by Sarıyer and Şişli, on the west by Kağıthane and Şişli, on the south by Beyoğlu, and on the east by the Bosphorus. Directly across the Bosphorus is the district of Üsküdar. The district includes a number of important sites along the European shore of the Bosphorus, from Dolmabahçe Palace in the south to the Bebek area in the north. It is also home to many inland (and relatively expensive, upper-middle class) neighborhoods such as Levent and Etiler. Some of its other well-known neighborhoods include Yıldız, Kuruçeşme, Ortaköy, and Arnavutköy. Beşiktaş' historic commercial centre is the Beşiktaş quarter and Çarşı (literally, "marketplace"), which adjoins the small Abbasağa Park. Running in the north-south direction, Barbaros Boulevard is a major feeder road for the inner-city motorway O-1 and the Bosphorus Bridge, terminating at the important public transport hub of Zincirlikuyu. Büyükdere Avenue also runs through the district. Although it is a relatively small district of Istanbul, both in terms of population and area, Beşiktaş is one of the city's most important areas due to its business and shopping areas, historic sites, universities, scenic views of the Bosphorus strait, and feeder roads for the Bosphorus and Fatih Sultan Mehmet bridges passing through it. The district is also the leading financial center of Turkey.In a 2013 ranking of Turkish districts, Beşiktaş placed first overall due to its high quality of life, prosperity, and cultural level. Beşiktaş is also the highest ranking Turkish district in terms of the Human Development Index, with an HDI of 0.864, while also ranking first in the individual indexes for income and education. The municipality is taking part in the Cities4Europe campaign and has qualified as a "European 12 Star City".

Beşiktaş is a currently under construction underground metro station located on the M7 line of the Istanbul Metro, Currently on hold due to archeological excavation, and it is planned to have a museum in the station when completed. It is planned to be open in 2024, as there have also been archeological sites discovered at the Kabataş station.

The St. Mary of Sakızağaç Cathedral (Turkish: Sakızağaç Kutsal Meryem Ana Katedralı ) also called Surp Asdvadzadzin, or the Armenian Catholic Cathedral of Istanbul is a cathedral belonging to the Armenian Catholic Church, which follows the Armenian rite and is in full communion with the Pope. It is located in Istanbul, the largest city in the Eurasian country of Turkey. It is not to be confused With the other two Catholic cathedrals in that same locality, the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit (Saint Esprit Kilisesi), which follows the Latin Rite, and the cathedral of the Greek Catholic rite (Ayatriada Rum Katoliki Kilise'). It is the main church of the Armenian Catholic Archeparchy of Istanbul (Archieparchia Constantinopolitana Armenorum), which was created in 1830 by the papal bull "Quod jamdiu" from Pope Pius VIII. It is under the pastoral responsibility of Archbishop Boghos Lévon Zékiyan.

Bahçeşehir University (BAU) is a private educational institution in Turkey, located around the Bosporus in Istanbul. The Turkish National Assembly authorized the establishment of the University of Bahçeşehir by the Bahçeşehir Uğur Education Foundation in 1998. An academic and strategic protocol was signed shortly after (February 1998) with San Diego State University in California, USA. The enrollment of the first students was made after the first placement exam (ÖSYS) in the 1999–2000 academic year. The university is one of the few universities in Turkey which has its lectures in English and therefore students applying to BAU are required to have high English proficiency. The university consists of 8 faculties, 1 school of languages and 2 vocational schools. Four institutes provides post-graduate education. There are 17,048 registered students studying at the university. The number of undergraduate students is 10,137 and the number of graduate students is 4,716. The number of associate degree students is 1072. Some 1047 academicians lecture at the university and 506 administrative personnel work at the university. There are 4 campuses in Istanbul. Bahçeşehir University Library, which is established on a 1400-meter-square field renders service with 250,000 publications, books and electronic books. Five different café and restaurants render service on the campus. The total audience capacity of the conference hall is 1000. Bahçeşehir University was given the "Superbrands of Turkey" award in 2007. Bahçeşehir Uğur Educational Institutions own 35 kindergartens, 18 elementary and 47 high schools, and 177 private educational centers in Turkey. The current rector is Prof. Dr. Şirin Karadeniz.

The Ertuğrul Tekke Mosque, (Turkish: Ertuğrul Tekke Camii), is an Ottoman imperial mosque located in Yıldız neighbourhood, Serencebey rise of Beşiktaş district in Istanbul, Turkey. A late Ottoman period mosque, it is constructed as a külliye consisting of a tekke, guest house, türbe, fountain, and library in addition to the mosque.

Iasonion or Daphne was a town of ancient Thrace, inhabited during Roman and Byzantine times.Its site is located near Beşiktaş in European Turkey.

Dolmabahçe Palace (Turkish: Dolmabahçe Sarayı, IPA: [doɫmabahˈtʃe saɾaˈjɯ]) located in the Beşiktaş district of Istanbul, Turkey, on the European coast of the Bosporus strait, served as the main administrative center of the Ottoman Empire from 1856 to 1887 and from 1909 to 1922 (Yıldız Palace was used in the interim period).

The Necati Cumalı sculpture is a monument in commemoration of Turkish writer Necati Cumalı. The sculpture was erected in 2002 after his death. It was an initiative of the Beşiktaş municipality who commissioned the sculptor Gürdal Duyar.

A part of Beşiktaş Vişnezade Park is oriented under the name "Şairler Sofası". Şairler Sofası is the 1998 sculpture by Gürdal Duyar whos name the park goes by. The depicted characters in the sculpture as well as the figures depicted in the other sculptures in the greater park are 19th and 20th century poets who have mostly lived in and around Beşiktaş. In the sculpture Şairler Sofası, Duyar has composed it such that the poets are "hand in hand" and "shoulder to shoulder". It includes the poets Behçet Necatigil, Sabahattin Kudret Aksal, Cahit Sıtkı Tarancı, Oktay Rıfat, Orhan Veli, Neyzen Tevfik and Nigâr Hanım together in one composition. The Architectural design of the park was done by Erhan İşözen. The park was opened in 1998 together with the first sculptures. at the inauguration of the park the mayor of Beşiktaş, Ayfer Atay, said that the park will be a place where books will be signed and poems will be read. The park has become a place where more poets and other members of Turkish soceity were honored with monuments over the years.
