Oland (Frisian island)

Oland Lighthouse (German: Leuchtturm Oland) is Germany's smallest lighthouse, being only 7.4 metres (24 ft) tall. It is located on the small Hallig of Oland. It serves as a cross light for the Föhrer Ley and Dagebüll channels. It is Germany's only lighthouse with a thatched roof. This small brick lighthouse was erected in 1929. Lit in the same year, it is still being maintained by a keeper. Until 1954 when it was electrified, the lantern was lit by liquified gas. For maintenance, the optic can be drawn out of the lantern casing on a slide. Its characteristic is "fixed", i.e. a continuous light, with white, red and green sectors. The red sector shines to the north and the green sector shines to the west. The white sector shines between the two coloured sectors or broadly towards the northwest or towards the town of Wyk on the island of Föhr from where it can be seen as a white light.

Gröde (German pronunciation: [ˈɡʁøːdə] ; Danish: Grøde, North Frisian: Groue) is a municipality in the district of Nordfriesland, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. With only 12 inhabitants, the municipality, which is coterminous with the hallig it is situated on (Hallig Gröde), has the smallest population of any municipality in Germany. The inhabitants of the island make a living from tourism and limited agriculture. Gröde forms the smallest electoral district in the country, with the tally reported practically immediately after polls close. Gröde belongs to the Amt of Pellworm with its seat on the larger island of Pellworm, from where a number of municipal duties are carried out.

Dagebüll Lighthouse is a retired lighthouse in Dagebüll, Nordfriesland, Germany. Until its replacement in 1988 by a direction light on the dock of the Dagebüll ferry port, it served as the lower light of the Dagebüll range of leading lights. The lighthouse is situated in the southern part of the municipality near the depot of the lorry rail to islands of Oland and Langeneß. After an additional storey was added to the tower due to a raise of the sea dike in 1980, the tower is now 12.5 m (41 ft) tall. Its focal height is at 10.3 m (34 ft) above the highest high tide. The lighthouse has a pitched roof, a black and green copper construction. As of 2018, the tower is being used as a hotel room for 2 guests.

Dagebüll (German: [ˈdaːɡəbʏl] ; Mooring North Frisian: Doogebel; Danish: Dagebøl) is a municipality located at the west coast of Schleswig-Holstein in the Nordfriesland district, Germany. Today's Dagebüll was created in 1978 as a merger of the municipalities of Fahretoft, Juliane-Marien-Koog and Waygaard. Dagebüll used to be a Hallig, the oldest houses were built on artificial dwelling hills which in parts can still be seen today. In 1704 the area was secured by sea dikes.

The Langeneß Wadden Sea Station (German: Wattenmeerhaus Langeneß) is an information centre on the island (Hallig) of Langeneß in the German Wadden Sea. It is located in the biosphere reserve of the Schleswig-Holstein Wadden Sea and Halligen. Since the station at Langeneß was founded, the house has been run by the Wadden Sea Conservation Station (Schutzstation Wattenmeer) and the World Wide Fund for Nature.

Langeneß () (Danish: Langenæs, North Frisian Nees) is a municipality in the district of Nordfriesland, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It consists of the halligen (islands) Langeneß and Oland. Before the flood of 1634 the two islands were directly attached. Langeneß itself has 16 Warften and is the largest Hallig. It has about 100 inhabitants and 58 households. There is a junior school and an information centre providing information about the national park and the Wadden-Sea at Peterswarf. A railway connects Langeneß to the mainland at Dagebüll via Oland. There is also a daily ferry service.

Wyk auf Föhr () (Fering North Frisian: Wik, a Wik, or Bi a Wik; Danish: Vyk på Før) is the only town on Föhr, the second largest of the North Frisian Islands on the German coast of the North Sea. Like the entire island it belongs to the district of Nordfriesland. Wyk includes the two minor town districts of Boldixum and Südstrand.

Beltring Hundred (German: Beltringharde; Danish: Beltring Herred, older: Byltryng Herred) was a mediaeval hundred located in the southern part of North Frisia in the Danish region of Southern Schleswig, part of the Frisian Uthlande. It encompassed the northern part of the island of Strand, which sank in 1634 during the Burchardi flood. Some of the land of Beltring Hundred survived the flood, however, and became the Hallig of Nordstrandischmoor as well as the site of the modern municipality of Ockholm. Beltring Hundred was one of the so-called Five Hundreds or Strand Hundreds on the island, the others being Edoms Hundred, Pellworm Hundred, Southern Goes Hundred, and Lundenberg Hundred. The hundred gave its name to Beltringharder Koog, a polder (German: Koog) that was constructed in 1987 between the island of Nordstrand and the North Frisian mainland, even though the area of the old district and the area of the polder are not the same.

Strand was an island on the west coast of Nordfriesland in Schleswig, which was a fiefdom of the Danish crown. The area now belongs to Schleswig-Holstein in northern Germany. Coastlines along the Dutch-German-Danish coasts were significantly changed during and by a huge storm tide, the Saint Marcellus' flood – also referred to as the Grote Mandrenke – that occurred on 16 January 1362. Many villages and towns were lost. The outlines of Strand changed significantly, nowadays legendary Rungholt reportedly being amongst the now sunken places. The Hallig island of Südfall was then separated from the mainland. In 1634 the Burchardi flood finally split Strand island into Nordstrand, Pellworm and Nordstrandischmoor.

Niebüll (German: [ˈniːbʏl] ; Mooring North Frisian: Naibel; Danish: Nibøl) is a town in the district of Nordfriesland, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is situated near the North Sea coast and the border with Denmark, approx. 35 km northwest of Husum.

Nordstrandischmoor (Danish: Nordstrand Mor or Nordstrandmose, North Frisian: Lätj Möör; also known locally as Lüttmoor) is a Hallig (undyked islet) off the North Frisian coast in Germany and lies within the Schleswig-Holstein Wadden Sea National Park.

Niebüll (German: Bahnhof Niebüll) is a railway station serving the town of Niebüll in the state of Schleswig-Holstein in Northern Germany. The station lies on the Marsh Railway and the train services are operated by Deutsche Bahn and Nord-Ostsee-Bahn.
