San Nicola da Tolentino is a church, located in Corso Vittorio Emanuele in Naples, Italy. The church was founded in 1618 in a zone where one of the Palaces of the Regio Consigliere Scipione De Curtis was found, and which patronized the construction of a hospice run by the Augustinian Order. After the 1631 eruption of Vesuvius, forced the monks to relocate to Resina. The monastery was then ceded to monks of the Order of San Martino and later to priests of the Congregation Vincenziani della Missione till 1836, when they were expelled, only to regain the facility in 1860 and move back in by the 20th century. Outside, a scenic staircase leads to the church atrium of the church. A series of marble inscriptions and votive offerings indicate the veneration of Our Lady of Lourdes which began in 1873. The stucco and white marble interior is mainly the design Domenico Antonio Vaccaro following a reconstruction in the 18th century. The main altar is attributed to Granucci. In the lateral chapels is a St Joseph and Child Jesus with Saints Gennaro and Elmo by Giuseppe Castellano. It is placed next to a 16th-century crucifix. the frescoes on the ceiling (1890) were completed by Vincenzo Galloppi, who also decorated the apse in an oriental style similar to that of Domenico Morelli. The presbytery walls were frescoed by Francesco Saverio Altamura and Bernardo Hay with stories relevant to the Virgin of Lourdes; in 1875, a reproduction of the Grotto of Lourdes was built. The site was often visited by the modern saint Doctor Giuseppe Moscati, who provided a marble plaque in gratitude to the Virgin

The Certosa di San Martino ("Charterhouse of St. Martin") is a former monastery complex, now a museum, in Naples, southern Italy. Along with Castel Sant'Elmo that stands beside it, this is the most visible landmark of the city, perched atop the Vomero hill that commands the gulf. A Carthusian monastery, it was finished and inaugurated under the rule of Queen Joan I in 1368. It was dedicated to St. Martin of Tours. During the first half of the 16th century it was expanded. Later, in 1623, it was further expanded and became, under the direction of architect Cosimo Fanzago, essentially the structure one sees today. In 1799 anti-clerical French forces of occupation suppressed the monastery and forced the monks to flee. In the ensuing decades the monks made several attempts to reestablish their charter house, with the last effort failing in 1866, when the state definitively confiscated the property. Today, the buildings house the National Museum of San Martino with a display of Spanish and Bourbon era artifacts, as well as displays of the presepe—Nativity scene—considered to be among the finest in the world.

Quartieri Spagnoli (Spanish Neighborhoods) is a part of the city of Naples in Italy. The Neapolitan language is stronger here than anywhere else. The area, encompassing c. 800,000 square metres, consists of a grid of around eighteen streets by twelve, including a population of some 14,000 inhabitants. The Quartieri were created in the 16th century to house Spanish garrisons, hence the name, whose role was to quench revolts from the Neapolitan population. Sant'Orsola a Chiaia (also called Sant'Orsola dei Mercedari Spagnoli, or the Parish church of Santa Maria della Mercede a Chiaia) is a church in largo Sant'Orsola in the quartieri of Chiaia in Naples, Italy. Originally, this was the site of a small 16th-century chapel endowed by the Spaniard Annibale de Troyanis y Mortella and dedicated to Saint Ursula. In 1569 it was donated to fathers of the Order of Santa Maria della Mercede, who in 1576 demolished the chapel to build a new convent. The church was reconstructed. In 1875, the cloister that held the tombs of the monks was demolished and the Teatro Sannazaro was built instead. The convent held Mercedari priests till 1923. In the 19th century, the reconstruction added frescoes in the arches of the nave and ceiling, depicting Stories of the Virgin (1851) and Redemption of Captives (1852) by G. Gravante. In the transept are two canvases by unknown 16th-century artists.

The church of the Santissima Trinità degli Spagnoli is a religious building in Naples, Italy, found in the piazza of the same name. The structure was first built in 1573 and was ceded to the Spanish residents of the Quartieri Spagnoli, later it passed to the Order of the Santissima Trinità della Redenzione dei Cattivi, an order dedicated to the redemption of captives held in Muslim lands. This order had been instituted by Pope Innocent III. The church was rebuilt and the interior redecorated by the Trinitarians in 1788. The portico dates from the mid-17th century. The church and convent were suppressed during the Napoleonic occupation. At the time a seventeenth-century altarpiece of the Santissima Trinità con la Madonna del Rimedio was looted.

Sant'Anna di Palazzo (or church of the Rosario di Palazzo) is a church in the quartiere of San Ferdinando in Naples, Italy. After the victory at the Lepanto, this church and Santa Maria della Vittoria in Naples were erected and dedicated to the Madonna del Rosario, whose devotion was felt to have contributed to the success at the battle. In 1572, Michele Lauro offered the Dominicans this land for construction of a church. In this time, this zone was exterior to the walls and less populated. One of the leaders of the Parthenopean Republic, Eleonora Fonseca Pimentel was married here in February 1778, and later buried her son here. Luca Giordano was baptized in this church. The facade (1706-1710) is attributed to Giovanni Battista Nauclerio. The stucco decorations date from the 17th century, but heavily restored in the 18th century. There are four bas-relief depictions of popes who helped establish the devotion of the rosary: Popes Benedict XI, Benedict XIII, Innocent V, and Pius V. The main altar (1729) created by Domenico Antonio Vaccaro. The main altarpiece is a Madonna del Rosario (c. 1738) by Giuseppe Bonito. The Rococo style sacristy (1739) was completed by Michelangelo Porzio. The dome, once tiled with Maiolica, dominates the skyline of the zone. The church was severely damaged during bombardments in 1943.

The Teatro Nuovo (New Theatre) is a theatre located on Via Montecalvario in the Quartieri Spagnoli district of Naples. The original theatre was an opera house designed by Domenico Antonio Vaccaro. Completed in 1724, it was also known as the Teatro Nuovo sopra Toledo and the Teatro Nuovo de Montecalvario. The theatre specialised in the opera buffa genre and saw the world premieres of hundreds of operas in its heyday. These included fifteen of Cimarosa's operas and seven of Donizetti's. The present theatre is the third to have been erected on the site following its destruction by fire in 1861 and again in 1935.
