West Vale is a village in Calderdale, West Yorkshire, England. The village falls within the Greetland and Stainland parish of the Calderdale Council. It is 2.5 miles (4.0 km) south of Halifax, 2 miles (3.2 km) west of Elland and 4 miles (6.4 km) north-west of Huddersfield.

Park Lane Academy is a non-selective mixed secondary school located in Exley (near Halifax), West Yorkshire, England.Originally known as Exley County Secondary Modern School, the school was later renamed Park Lane High School, before becoming a foundation school when it was renamed Park Lane Learning Trust. As a foundation school, Park Lane was administered by a trust which included Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council, The Crossley Heath School, Together Housing association and the University of Huddersfield. The school relocated to new buildings in 2006. In October 2018 the school converted to academy status and is now sponsored by South Pennine Academies Trust. Park Lane Academy offers GCSEs and BTECs as programmes of study for pupils.

Salterhebble is an area of Halifax, a town within the Metropolitan Borough of Calderdale, in West Yorkshire, England. The town falls within the Skircoat ward of Calderdale Council. Salterhebble is located where the Hebble Brook flows into the River Calder. It is on the main route into Halifax from Huddersfield and Brighouse. Salterhebble is the home of Calderdale Royal Hospital, a school, a fast food restaurant, a funeral parlour (formerly The Falcon pub) and one active pub, The Watermill. Some former pubs in the village included The Punch Bowl, The Falcon and The Stafford Arms. The place-name 'Salterhebble' means "the salt-sellers' foot-bridge".

Skircoat Green () is an area to the south of Halifax, West Yorkshire, England. Skircoat is a ward of the Borough of Calderdale whose population at the 2011 Census was 12,712.In the 13th century, the land was granted to the Earl Warren, and then passed to the Savile family. This was an independent township before being absorbed by the Borough of Halifax in 1892. The name was originally Schircotes and means building on the rocks. The Skircoat Green Area of Halifax is north of Salterhebble and is one of the most expensive areas of Halifax.

Greetland is a small village in the metropolitan borough of Calderdale in West Yorkshire, England. The appropriate Calderdale Ward is called Greetland and Stainland. The population of this ward at the 2011 Census was 11,389. It is located 1 mile (1.6 km) west of Elland and 2.5 miles (4.0 km) south of Halifax. In 1870–72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Greetland like this: "Greetland, a village and a chapelry in Halifax parish, W. R. Yorkshire. The village stands 1 mile W of Elland r. station, and 3 SSW of Halifax; and has a post office under Halifax. The chapelry is part of the township of Elland-cum-Greetland. Pop. 2, 584. There are stone quarries, and several large woollens, worsted, and cotton mills."

Elland is a market town in Calderdale, in the county of West Yorkshire, England. It is situated south of Halifax, by the River Calder and the Calder and Hebble Navigation. Elland was recorded as Elant in the Domesday Book of 1086. It had a population in 2001 of 14,554, with the ward being measured at 11,676 in the 2011 Census.
