The Bridgewater Memorial Arena was a 1,200-seat multi-purpose arena in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia. It was home to the Bridgewater Lumberjacks ice hockey team of the Maritime Junior Hockey League. The arena opened in 1949. In 2015, the town council voted to close the arena due to financial issues.

Bridgewater is a town in Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia, Canada, at the navigable limit of the LaHave River. With a 2021 population of 8,790, Bridgewater is the largest town in the South Shore region. Priding itself as "The Main Street of the South Shore," Bridgewater has long been established as the primary commercial and professional service centre in the southern half of the province. Park View Education Centre is a Canadian public secondary school located in the town of Bridgewater, Nova Scotia. It is operated by the South Shore Regional School Board (SSRSB). Park View Education Centre has been an International Baccalaureate World School since June 1980, optionally offering the IB Diploma Programme. IB courses available at the school include Visual Arts SL, Biology SL, Chemistry HL, Economics SL, English A1 HL, French B HL, French B SL, History HL, History SL, Mathematics SL, Music SL, Physics HL, Physics SL and Theory of Knowledge. Park View Education Centre also offers the Options and Opportunities (O2) Program, this program helps students get ready to jump into the workforce and also helps students get into Nova Scotia Community College and helps them get prepared for everyday work duties.

The DesBrisay Museum is a museum showcasing the history of the town of Bridgewater, Nova Scotia and the surrounding area, including its inhabitants and architecture, whose collection is due to the efforts of Judge Mather Byles DesBrisay. Upon his death, DesBrisay left his collection to the town and in 1967, the museum was established.The museum is funded, in part, by the Province of Nova Scotia as well as by the town of Bridgewater and a number of different fundraising initiatives. In 2017, a Nova Scotia Community Museum Assistance Program evaluation declared the DesBrisay the top community museum in the province, out of a roster of 67.

Dayspring is a community in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia, located on the banks of the Lahave River in the Lunenburg Municipal District in Lunenburg County. It is home to the traditional wooden shipyard, Snyder's Shipyard, builders of Theodore Too, among many other vessels, as well as The Riverview Enhanced Living Centre, Miller's Point Peace Park, the Municipal Activity and Recreation Complex and the Bridgewater/Dayspring Airpark.

River John is a river in Nova Scotia. Draining the extreme western part of Pictou County, it flows into Amet Sound on the Northumberland Strait at River John, a village which takes its name from the river. The Miꞌkmaq name is Kajeboogwek ("flowing through desert or solitary place"). An early name was Deception River. Its present name is believed to derive from Rivière Jaune, an Acadian name, though it may also derive from nearby Cap Jean (now Cape John). DesBarres called it River John in his Atlantic Neptune. Permanent settlement began in the late eighteenth century. In the nineteenth century, the river was an important scene of wooden ship building. In 1884, the largest ship ever built in Pictou County, the 1,687-ton Warrior was launched by the Kitchin yard, while rival Archibald MacKenzie launched the 1,574-ton Caldera that same year.Communities situated on the lower reaches of the river include River John, Marshville and Welsford (formerly River John Village). The upper reaches in the Cobequid Hills began to be settled in the early nineteenth century at West Branch River John, Diamond, Loganville, and Dalhousie Settlement. According to estimates by the Province of Nova Scotia, in 2011 there were 6,661 people resident within the River John watershed (i.e., all land draining into Amet Sound). The River John is tidal for part of its length.

The LaHave River is a 97 km (60 mi) river in Nova Scotia, Canada, running from its source in Annapolis County to the Atlantic Ocean. Along its way, it splits the communities of LaHave and Riverport and runs along the Fairhaven Peninsula and bisects the town of Bridgewater flowing into the LaHave River estuary. Tides affect water levels for about 20 km up the river. There are a number of tourist attractions along the river, and it is also well-used for recreational sailing. As well as two bridges at Bridgewater, the river can be crossed by a cable ferry at the Community of LaHave.The river and various spots in the area were named after Cap de la Hève, in France, by Pierre Dugua, Sieur de Monts in 1604. The name was later anglicized to LaHave.

Conquerall Mills is a community in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia, located in the Lunenburg Municipal District in Lunenburg County near Bridgewater and Conquerall Bank which are located on the shore of LaHave River. Conquerall Mills is dominated by Fancy Lake which is the source for the picturesque Petite Rivière. Fancy Lake is home to small mouth bass and the invasive species of chain pickerel. There are warnings against fishing the endangered Atlantic White fish which are rumoured to exist in the Fancy Lake/Petite Rivière system. The community is 125 kilometers southwest of Halifax.
