Numazu Castle

Numazu Domain (沼津藩, Numazu-han) was a feudal domain under the Tokugawa shogunate of Edo period Japan located in Suruga Province. It was centered on Numazu Castle in what is now the city of Numazu, in modern-day Shizuoka Prefecture.

Numazu (沼津市, Numazu-shi) is a city located in eastern Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. As of 1 December 2019, the city had an estimated population of 189,486 in 91,986 households, and a population density of 1,014 persons per km2. The total area of the city is 186.96 square kilometres (72.19 sq mi).

Numazu Station (沼津駅, Numazu-eki) is an interchange railway station on the Tōkaidō Main Line in the city of Numazu, Shizuoka, Japan, operated by Central Japan Railway Company (JR Central). The station is also a freight terminal and rail yard for the Japan Freight Railway Company (JR Freight).

Hiryū High School is a private junior and senior high school located in Numazu, Shizuoka Prefecture. The school is operated by the educational coproration Numazu Gakuen. The school is particularly well known for its men's basketball and baseball clubs. The school's sumo club also has a long tradition, having been founded in the 70s, and has achieved numerous successes on the national scene.

The Kano River (狩野川, Kano-gawa) is an A class river in Shizuoka Prefecture of central Japan. It is 46 kilometres (29 mi) long and has a watershed of 853 square kilometres (329 sq mi).The Kano River originates from Mount Amagi in central Izu Peninsula and follows a generally northern path into Suruga Bay at Numazu. The Izu Peninsula is characterized by heavy rainfall, and the Kano River has a steep gradient with rapid flow and is prone to flooding. During Typhoon Ida in September 1958, the river caused heavy damage to towns along its banks, resulting in 1269 deaths. 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) upriver from the river's mouth at Numazu, a flood diversion canal has been constructed to divert flood water into Suruga Bay. The canal is 2.9 kilometres (1.8 mi) in length with 200 metres (660 ft) and 850 metres (2,790 ft) long sets of triple tunnels. The Jōren Falls, one of Japan's Top 100 Waterfalls is located in the upper reaches of the Kano River.

The Numazu Imperial Villa (沼津御用邸, Numazu Goyōtei) is a former imperial summer residence located in the city of Numazu, Shizuoka, Japan. The villa was constructed by Emperor Meiji in July 1893 and was a favorite residence of his son, Crown Prince Yoshihito, the future Emperor Taishō. The building was a single-story wooden structure with an area of 1200 square meters. The grounds covered 104,402 square meters, and it was located facing Suruga Bay adjacent to the Senbon-Matsubara, a scenic pine grove. The villa also had views of Mount Fuji to the north-north west. In the neighborhood were the villas of a number of important political figures of the times, including that of Oyama Iwao, Saigō Jūdō and Ōki Takatō. The villa was expanded twice, once in 1903 (the east annex) and once in 1905 (the west annex). The east annex was originally a building of the Akasaka Palace estate in Tokyo used by the high steward to the crown prince. The west annex was originally a villa belonging to count Kawamura Sumiyoshi. The future Emperor Hirohito spent 70 days at the villa as a child. During the bombing of Numazu in World War II, the main building of the villa was hit by an American bomb and burned down. The villa was turned over to the Numazu city government in 1969, and was opened to the public as the Numazu Goyōtei Memorial Park (沼津御用邸記念公園, Numazu Goyōtei Kinen Kōen) in 1970.

The Kakita River (柿田川, Kakita-gawa) is a river flowing through the town of Shimizu in the Suntō District, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. The Kakita River is a tributary of the Kano River. At only 1.2 km (1 mi), it is the shortest Class 1 River in Japan. Most of the river's source water comes from springs created by rainfall and melting snow on Mount Fuji. Therefore, the temperature of the river is around 15 °C throughout the year. The river is also known as the only habitat of Mishima-baikamo (ja:ミシマバイカモ). The area around the springs is protected as a park (Kakita River Park (柿田川公園, Kakita-gawa Kōen) by the Shimizu town government. Also, famous for being a clear-flowing river, the Kakita River has been named one of the "Three Clear-Flowing Rivers in Japan", along with the Nagara River in Gifu Prefecture and the Shimanto River in Kōchi Prefecture.

Shimizu (清水町, Shimizu-chō) is a town in Suntō District of Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. As of 1 August 2019, the town had an estimated population of 32,453 in 14058 households, and a population density of 3,700 persons per km2. The total area of the town was 8.81 square kilometres (3.40 sq mi).

Mishima-Hirokōji Station (三島広小路駅, Mishimahirokōji-eki) is a railway station located in the city of Mishima, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan operated by the private railroad company Izuhakone Railway.

Nagaizumi (長泉町, Nagaizumi-chō) is a town located in Suntō District, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. As of 1 August 2019, the town had an estimated population of 43,568 in 18154 households and a population density of 1,600 persons per km². The total area of the town was 26.63 square kilometres (10.28 sq mi).
