Beaumont Chase

Kings Hill is a place in the East Midlands county of Rutland, England, near the border between civil parishes of Beaumont Chase and Uppingham.

St Botolph's Church, Wardley is a redundant Anglican church in the small village of Wardley, Rutland, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a Grade II* listed building, and is under the care of the Churches Conservation Trust.

Wardley is a village and civil parish in the county of Rutland in the East Midlands of England. The population at the 2001 census was 32. At the 2011 census the population remained less than 100 and is included in the civil parish of Ridlington. It is located about two miles (3 km) west of Uppingham, close to the A47. The village's name probably means 'wood/clearing with a weir' or 'wood/clearing of the watchmen'. The manor is not mentioned in Domesday Book, but was probably among the unnamed berewicks attached to Ridlington. By the early 12th century it was in the hands of Richard Basset, who granted it to Launde Priory in Leicestershire with whom it remained until the Dissolution. St Botolph's parish church is Grade II* listed. In 2016 the church passed into the care of the Churches Conservation Trust. The two-mile (3 km) £1.9 million Wardley Hill Improvement for the A47 opened in October 1987 when the road through the village became a dead end. The village has no mains water supply, instead water is supplied from a borehole. Wardley Wood, owned by the Forestry Commission, is an ancient woodland on a hillside.

Stockerston is a village and civil parish in the Harborough district of Leicestershire, England, located on the border with Rutland, by the Eye Brook. According to the 2001 census the parish had a population of 35. The population remained less than 100 at the 2011 census and is included in the civil parish of Horninghold.

Stockerston Hall is a late-18th-century English country house in Leicestershire, near the town of Uppingham, Rutland. It is a Grade II listed building. The Manor of Stockerston was owned by the Boyville family in the 15th century and passed by marriage to Sothill and then to Drury. It was sold by Henry Drury in 1580 to John Burton of Braunston, whose son was the first of the Burton baronets of Stockerston. In 1633, Sir Thomas Burton Bt was High Sheriff of Leicestershire and in 1682 Sir Thomas Burton Bt had the same honour. The Burtons were impoverished by the English Civil War and sold the estate to Sir Charles Dunscombe in about 1685. The Dunscombes demolished the old manor house in about 1797 and built the present Georgian style mansion upon its foundations in about 1800. The attractive red brick and stone dressed entrance front of five bays has a central Tuscan order porch. The house was sold by Dunscombe in about 1807 and a number of owners and tenants followed including Walker, Bellairs, Fenwicke, Stevenson and from 1930 Whitgreave. By 1954 it was the residence of John A. F. March Phillipps de Lisle, High Sheriff of Leicestershire who was succeeded by his son Everard, also high sheriff in 1974. The house and 269-acre (1.09 km2) estate were sold following the latter's death in 2003.

Leighfield is a civil parish in the county of Rutland in the East Midlands of England. There is no settlement centre in the parish, only a few isolated properties. In the 2001 census it had a population of 10, which was the fourth smallest of Rutland's parish populations. At the 2011 census the population remained less than 100 and was included in the civil parish of Ridlington. It shares its name with Leighfield Forest, a much larger area from Braunston-in-Rutland to Stockerston and from Skeffington to Ridlington, a triangle of land roughly 4 miles (6.4 km) in each direction.The village's name means 'Wood/clearing'. Spellings with the addition of the Old English word 'feld' meaning 'open land' started to appear from the 14th century.The Leighfield Way is a 7.4 miles (11.9 km) waymarked route joining the Leicestershire and Rutland Rounds at Belton-in-Rutland with the Hereward Way and Viking Way at Oakham.

The Church of St Mary Magdalene and St Andrew is the Church of England parish church in Ridlington, Rutland. It is a Grade II* listed building.

Allexton Wood is a 25.9-hectare (64-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest north-east of Hallaton in Leicestershire. This coppice semi-natural wood is on soils derived from glacial and Jurassic clays. The dominant tree is ash, and elm and pedunculate oak are also common. There are several small streams with populations of opposite-leaved golden saxifrage. The site is private property with no public access.

Ridlington is a village and civil parish in Rutland in the East Midlands of England. The population of the village was 202 at the time of the 2001 census, including Ayston, Leighfield and Wardley also increasing to 260 at the 2011 census.The village's name means 'farm/settlement of Redel'. The Church of St Mary Magdalene and St Andrew is the Church of England parish church. It is a Grade II* listed building.The Village Hall on Main Street was originally the Ridlington Village Primary School, built in 1873. The Diocese of Peterborough made it over to the Parish Council in 1964 when the school closed. Ridlington was the home of Hugh Boyville, a landowner and Member of Parliament for Rutland in the 15th century. The prominent Harington family had their seat here and one branch were created the Harington Baronets, of Ridlington in 1611.

Ayston is a village and civil parish in the county of Rutland in the East Midlands of England. It is about one mile (1.6 km) north-west of Uppingham, close to the junction of the A47 and A6003. The population of the village was less than 100 at the 2011 census and is included in the civil parish of Ridlington. The placename means Aethelstan's farm or settlement; the estate was granted to Aethelstan, a minister of Edward the Confessor, in 1046. Ayston is part of Braunston & Belton ward which has one councillor on Rutland County Council. The Grade II* listed St Mary the Virgin's Church came into the care of Churches Conservation Trust in April 2014.

Bolt Wood is near to the western boundary of the Parish of Stockerston, Leicestershire, England. It is suggested that the woodland on this boundary is part of that mentioned in the Domesday Book. Bolt Wood was part of the extensive Royal medieval Leighfield Forest. The first written reference to Bolt Wood is in an undated charter probably dating before the reign of Henry VI, in which it is referred to as 'Boutewood'. An alternative date offered is between 1422 and 1461.
