Windy Point/Windy Flats

Lake Celilo is a 24 mi (39 km) long reservoir on the Columbia River in the United States, between the U.S. states of Washington and Oregon. It was created in 1957 with the construction of The Dalles Dam near The Dalles, Oregon, and stretches upstream to the John Day Dam. Its filling drowned the former site of Celilo Falls and the neighboring fishing and trade village sites. Celilo Village, a small, unincorporated community of Native Americans, still exists today, though it is no longer the thriving cultural and economic center it once was. The reservoir lies in parts of Wasco and Sherman counties in Oregon, and Klickitat County in Washington.

Rufus is a city in Sherman County, Oregon, United States. The population was 268 at the 2020 census. The city was named for an early settler, Rufus Carrol Wallis. The city is bordered on the northern side by the Columbia River and the John Day Dam. Rufus is located in the high desert and has wildlife such as porcupines, coyotes, ground squirrels, deer, hummingbirds, ospreys, and kestrels. The city has a gas station, post office, tackle shop, market, two restaurants and two hotels. Rufus is also home to Giles French waterfront park and a no-fee boat launch on the Columbia River. Giles French park is an excellent location for birdwatching and short term free camping. Rufus is also home to archaeological site 35SH119, where various Native American groups quarried petrified wood and other materials for stone tool creation. Although petrified wood is not as desirable as obsidian for such tools, the proximity of this site made it a location that was regularly visited over thousands of years. The quarry site is located on the west end of Rufus in what is now the Gorge Vista subdivision. The lack of human remains and datable artifacts meant that this archeological site was not recommended for inclusion in the national register of historic sites and only the original survey post marks the location of the quarry.

The Columbia Hills are an area of hills and small mountains along the north bank of the Columbia River in Klickitat County, in south-central Washington state, US. They have a maximum elevation of 2,667 feet (813 m).

The Maryhill Loops Road was an experimental road in south central Washington, United States, built by Good Roads promoter Samuel Hill with the help of engineer and landscape architect Samuel C. Lancaster. Laid in 1911 as the first asphalt road in the state, it achieved low grades with horseshoe curves. It was bypassed by the present, straighter U.S. Route 97 after World War II. The road climbs the Columbia Hills from the Columbia River and Spokane, Portland and Seattle Railway to Hill's planned Quaker utopian community at Maryhill, Washington. The design became the model for the Figure-Eight Loops on the Historic Columbia River Highway in Oregon, designed by Lancaster several years later. The road is now owned by the Maryhill Museum of Art. Except when rented, it is open to pedestrians and bicycles, but closed to motor vehicle traffic. The Maryhill Museum of Art rents use of the road for private events by automobile, motorcycle, bicycling, and longboarding clubs. The yearly International Downhill Federation World Cup Series downhill longboarding and street luge event is held there.

The Big Horn Wind Farm is a 200 megawatt wind farm in Klickitat County, Washington. It uses 133 GE Energy 1.5 MW wind turbines. The wind farm is owned by Big Horn LLC, a subsidiary of Iberdrola Renewables. 98 percent of the land it is on remains available for traditional uses, such as hunting and farming.

The Maryhill Stonehenge is a replica of England's Stonehenge located in Maryhill, Washington, United States. It was commissioned in the early 20th century by the wealthy entrepreneur Sam Hill, and dedicated on July 4, 1918 as a memorial to the people who had died in World War I. The memorial is constructed of concrete, and construction was commenced in 1918 and completed in 1929. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2021.

Maryhill is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Klickitat County, Washington, United States. The population was 55 at the 2020 census.

First Day Advent Christian Church is a historic church at the junction of Maryhill Hwy. and Stonehenge Avenue in Maryhill, Washington State, United States. It was built in a Late Victorian/Gothic Revival style and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.

The White Creek Wind Farm is an electricity generating wind farm facility in Klickitat County, Washington, United States. It is owned by Last Mile Electric Cooperative and began operations in 2007. The facility has a generating capacity of 205 megawatts.

Goldendale is a city and county seat of Klickitat County, Washington, United States, near the Columbia River Gorge. The population within city limits was 3,760 at the 2000 census and 3,407 at the 2010 census, a 9.4% decrease. It is situated in a primarily agricultural area and is also near Goldendale Observatory State Park. The valley in which Goldendale is located offers views of the Cascade Mountains to the west and the Simcoe Mountains to the north.

The Goldendale Free Public Library in Goldendale, Washington is a historic Carnegie library which is listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. The library was a project of the Women's Association, a Federated Women's Clubs chapter.It is a 50 feet (15 m) by 80 feet (24 m) brick building in a residential area near downtown. The gables of its roof have circular openings for attic ventilation and parapets above.It is one of many Carnegie libraries that are listed on the National Register.

Goldendale Observatory State Park is an educational facility on the northern side of Goldendale, Washington, notable for its unusually large public telescope. The state park occupies five acres (2.0 ha) atop a 2,100-foot (640 m) hill. Access is via a winding paved road through an oak forest. The site includes a small picnic area, interpretive center, amphitheater, and the observatory.There are several telescopes on-site, including portable Dobsonians, a permanently mounted Hydrogen-Alpha solar telescope, and the primary instrument; a 24.5-inch reflector which is housed in the South Dome. The facility receives 30-40,000 visitors annually. From 2010 to 2017 the park was an International Dark Sky Park, and expects to be a dark sky site again when the current observatory reconstruction is completed.
