Pola de Laviana

Carrio is one of nine parishes (administrative divisions) in Laviana, a municipality within the province and autonomous community of Asturias, in northern Spain.

Laviana (Asturian: Llaviana) is a municipality in the Autonomous Community of the Principality of Asturias, located in Spain. It is bordered on the north by Bimenes and Nava, on the south by Aller, on the east by Piloña and Sobrescobio, and on the west by San Martín del Rey Aurelio and Mieres. Situated in the basin of the Rio Nalon, it is a terminal for the FC de Langreo railway, now subsumed by FEVE, which connects it to the port of Gijón.

Blimea is the most eastern parish of the San Martín del Rey Aurelio council. By Decree Law December 2007, the town of Blimea joins El Entrego and Sotrondio to form the town of San Martín, being the town of Blimea one of its districts. Blimea is a place name emerged from many Asturian words with different phonetic variants translated into Castilian word "wicker" such as bima, blima, brima, blimba or bilma. From the etymological point of view, wicker part of Latin "vimen - viminis" and in the Asturian case is influenced belime, "wheat residue" and bilimia, "drill", "Beria". It would therefore be an area where blima was abundant. Nalón river divides into two large halves and forms a broad plain which is where Blimea, capital of the parish rises. It is 9.66 km2 (3.73 sq mi) in size, with a population of 3,867 inhabitants (INE 2005).

Sotrondio is a town in San Martín del Rey Aurelio, Asturias, Spain. In September 2007, by a decree of the Principality of Asturias, it joined the adjacent El Entrego and Blimea to form a single population center, San Martin del Rey, as a homonymous municipality. It is 30 kilometres (19 mi) from Oviedo. The population was 3,849 in 2009, fewer residents than in previous years, declining due to the crisis of industrial restructuring in the Asturian coalfield. It is crossed by the Nalón River separating the Serallo neighborhood from the rest of the town. Aurelius of Asturias is believed to be buried at Iglesia de San Martín de Tours, which is near Sotrondio. It is the local parish church and was rebuilt by Duro Felguera after the Spanish Civil War. Teatro Virginia is located in the Plaza de Ramón y Cajal.

San Martín del Rey Aurelio (Asturian: Samartín del Rei Aurelio) is a municipality of the Autonomous Community of the Principality of Asturias in northern Spain. There are three main towns in the municipality: Sotrondio, El Entrego, and Blimea, and many villages, such as Santa Bárbara and La Hueria. It is situated in the central part of Asturias, just below the Sierra de San Mamés, part of the Cantabrian Mountains. The Nalón River, the longest river in Asturias, crosses the municipality. The Redes Natural Park is located nearby. Historically a mining location, nowadays it is in a re-industrial process with the emigration of many young people (about 30% of under 30). New computer based factories are attempting to establish themselves.
