Marken

Marker Museum (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈmɑrkər myˈzeːjʏm]; English: Marken's Museum) is a local museum in the village of Marken in the Netherlands. The museum focuses on the history of Marken, including its fishing heritage.The museum comprises six houses.The building is a Rijksmonument.

The Paard van Marken (English: Horse of Marken) is a lighthouse on the Dutch peninsula Marken, on the IJsselmeer. It was built in 1839 by J. Valk. A primitive lighthouse had been on the location since the early 18th century; the current lighthouse has been a listed building (Rijksmonument) since 1970. The lighthouse is inhabited and thus cannot be visited.

Uitdam is a village in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Waterland, and lies on the coast of the IJsselmeer, about 12 km northeast of Amsterdam. The village was first mentioned in 1345 as Udam, and means "damn outside the dike". Uitdam and neighbouring Zuiderwoude formed a heerlijkheid in 1628 which existed until 1811. Uitdam was home to 88 people in 1840. The first church was built in the 17th century. The current church dates from 1937.

The Kras Stadion (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈkrɑˌstaːdijɔn]) is a multi-purpose stadium in Volendam, Netherlands. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of FC Volendam. The stadium is able to hold 6,984 people and was built in 1975.

Volendam (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈvoːlə(n)ˌdɑm] (listen)) is a fishing town in the municipality of Edam-Volendam, province of North Holland, Netherlands. As of 1 January 2021, it has a population of 22,715. It is twinned with Coventry, England.

The Volendam New Year's fire was a café fire in the Dutch town of Volendam during the 2000–2001 New Year's night. The fire began early on New Year's Day 2001 and caused the death of 14 young people. There were in all 241 people admitted to hospital, 200 of whom suffered serious burns.

Katwoude is a village in the province of North Holland, Netherlands. It is a part of the municipality of Waterland, and lies on the coast of the IJsselmeer, about 2 km north of Monnickendam. The village was first mentioned in 1310 as "lant van Kattwoude". The etymology is unclear. Even though there is a cat in the shield, it is unlikely to be related to the animal.Katwoude was home to 182 people in 1840. It used to be a separate municipality between 1817 and 1991, when it became part of Waterland. Katwoude used to share a mayor with Monnickendam.

Edam-Volendam (Dutch: [eːˌdɑm ˈvoːlə(n)ˌdɑm] (listen)) is a municipality in the northwest Netherlands, in the province of North Holland, primarily consisting of the towns of Edam and Volendam. It is situated on the western shore of the Markermeer, just north of Waterland. In 2019, it had a population of 36,099. Since 2016, the former municipality of Zeevang has merged with the municipality of Edam-Volendam.

Museum de Speeltoren is a museum in Monnickendam, North Holland, in the Netherlands. Museum exhibitions focus on the history, culture, art, and environment of Monnickendam. The museum has a large collection of delftware and majolica. They also have an exhibition where guests can go inside the Speeltoren carillon.In 2015, the museum was awarded the national Dutch "Museum Discover Award."

Posthoorn is the restaurant of Suitehotel De Posthoorn in Monnickendam, Netherlands. It is a fine dining restaurant that was awarded one Michelin star for the period 2009-present.GaultMillau awarded the restaurant 15 out of 20 points.Head chef of Posthoorn is Jeroen Bavelaar. He took over from Rogier van Dam, who left the restaurant in 2010.Hotel De Posthoorn, with its new restaurant, reopened in 2005. The original hotel started as a stable and inn in 1888.

The Zuidpoldermolen is a windmill in Edam, dated between 1626-35 and was used to grind grain and drain a polder: low land that has been reclaimed from the sea and diked. The mill is owned by the Dutch Windmill Society.

Waterland (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈʋaːtərlɑnt] (listen)) is a municipality in the Netherlands, located in the province of North Holland. It is situated north of Amsterdam, on the western shore of the Markermeer. It is well-known for comprising the touristy towns of Broek in Waterland and Marken.
