The Quincy Quarries in Quincy, Massachusetts, produced granite for over a century and were the site of the Granite Railway—often credited as being the first railroad in the United States. A 22-acre (8.9 ha) section of the former quarries is owned and operated by the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation as a public recreation area.

West Quincy is a neighborhood of Quincy, Massachusetts. It is bordered on the north by Wollaston, on the east by Quincy Center, on the south by South Quincy and on the west by the town of Milton and the Blue Hills Reservation.

The Granite Railway was one of the first railroads in the United States, built to carry granite from Quincy, Massachusetts, to a dock on the Neponset River in Milton. From there boats carried the heavy stone to Charlestown for construction of the Bunker Hill Monument. The Granite Railway is popularly termed the first commercial railroad in the United States, as it was the first chartered railway to evolve into a common carrier without an intervening closure. The last active quarry closed in 1963; in 1985, the Metropolitan District Commission purchased 22 acres (8.9 ha), including Granite Railway Quarry, as the Quincy Quarries Reservation.

The House at 92 Willard Street in Quincy, Massachusetts, is, somewhat oddly, believed to be the only granite house ever built in the city, which is well known for its granite quarries. The house is located in West Quincy, near its famous granite quarries, and was built in the 1830s. It is a 2+1⁄2-story structure, fashioned out of granite blocks, with a gable roof. A single-story hip-roofed porch once wrapped around two sides; it was an early 20th-century addition that has since been removed. The main facade is three bays wide, with the entrance at the center.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

The House at 23–25 Prout Street in Quincy, Massachusetts, is a well-preserved local example of worker housing for people employed in the local granite industry. A fine example of a "Quincy Cottage", it is a 1+1⁄2-story wood-frame structure with clapboard siding and a side-gable roof. It has a projecting gabled entrance vestibule, and twin shed-roof wall dormers, both of which are detailed with decorative wooden shingles. The front roof eave has Italianate brackets. This house was built by Barnabas Clark, a major investor in the granite quarries, to house workers.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

The Forbes Hill Standpipe is a historic water tower structure located on Reservoir Road in Quincy, Massachusetts, USA. The tower was built in 1899-1902 to contain a 330,000 US gallons (1,200,000 L; 270,000 imp gal) steel water tank. The site originally included an adjacent reservoir that supplied Quincy with water from the Metropolitan Boston Water System. The standpipe was taken out of service in 1955 and the reservoir was filled in.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

The Solomon Nightengale House (or "Nightingale") was a historic house at 429 Granite Street in Quincy, Massachusetts. The 1+1⁄2-story Cape style house was built c. 1820 by Solomon Nightengale, whose family had owned the land since the 18th century. It had a four-bay facade, with a central chimney and a sheltered entry in the center-left bay. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.The house shown in the image is at the correct address (429 Granite Street) and lot, as verified by reference to the site map provided on the Massachusetts Historical Commission report precedent to its nomination to the National Register. Since it bears little resemblance to the house shown in the Quincy Historical and Architectural Survey, it appears that the 1820 house has been torn down and replaced by the house shown and its identical twin to the left.

The South~West Middle School, formerly the South Junior High School and Reay E. Sterling Middle School, is a state of the art school building at 444 Granite Street in Quincy, Massachusetts. It is part of the Quincy Public Schools. The original school was in a Classical Revival style building was designed by Shephard & Stearns, and built in 1927. Of three junior high schools built by the city in the 1920s, it is the best preserved. It is a large U-shaped two-story brick building, with a flat roof and a raised basement. Its main facade is symmetrical, with slightly projecting end pavilions and a central entry pavilion.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

The Faxon House is a historic house at 310 Adams Street in Quincy, Massachusetts. The oldest portion of this house was built in 1880 by Job Faxon, a Boston-based flour merchant. His son Henry retained the Boston firm of Shepard and Stearns, and expanded and redesigned the house in Colonial Revival style in 1931, a time when larger estates on Adams Street were being subdivided for development. The house is one of the most elaborate and well-preserved examples of the style in Quincy.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

The Timothy Reed House is a historic house at 284 Adams Street in Quincy, Massachusetts. This two-story wood-frame house was built in the 1870s by Timothy Reed, a Boston-based leather merchant. It is the city's finest Stick style house, with bargeboard gable decoration, and alternating sections of horizontal and vertical siding, set off by trim bands. Its gable ends are truncated, the eaves are lined with brackets, and the front porch has a low turned balustrade and posts with large brackets.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

The Baxter–King House is a historic house at 36 Heritage Road in Quincy, Massachusetts. The 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame house was built in the 1860s, and is one of the city's finest Italianate houses. The L-shaped house dominated by a three-story square tower with a shallow hip roof that has a bracketed and modillioned eave. An elaborately decorated entry projects from the tower. Windows are varied in shape, including round-arch windows with drip moulding, and single and doubled sash windows. The house was built by James Baxter Jr., whose daughter Helen married Theophilus King. King owned a leather business in Boston and was president of the Granite Trust Company.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

The Barnes House is a historic house at 183 Pine Street, Quincy, Massachusetts. The 2+1⁄2-story house was built in the 1870s, and is a fine local example of Italianate styling. It is three bays wide, with the first floor left bays taken up by a large projecting bay with four sash windows and a bracketed eave. The windows on the second floor have bracketed cornices, and the front entry is sheltered by a decorated porch with turned posts. The house is further distinctive because it has a surviving period barn/carriage house. The builder was probably Howard C. Barnes, who was in the musical instruments business.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.
