House at 81–83 Gardner Street

The Seth Adams House is a historic house at 72 Jewett Street, in the Newton Corner village of Newton, Massachusetts. Probably built in the mid-1850s, it is a well-preserved example of Italianate architecture. During the 1870s it was home to Seth Adams, one of Newton's wealthiest residents. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

Aquinas College was a college in Milton, Massachusetts, and 15 Walnut Park, Newton, Massachusetts. It was closed in 2000. Its Newton campus was then used by The Rashi School, the Boston-area Reform Jewish K-8 Independent School. The school became vacant again when The Rashi School moved to their permanent home in nearby Dedham, Massachusetts, in 2010. In 2015, the city of Newton purchased the property to "house the preschool program and create additional school space to relieve overcrowding and facilities issues at several elementary schools". The 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame house was built in the 1860s, and features a projecting entry portico, a distinctive feature of the academic variant, and decorated dormers with segmented-arch or round-arch tops. In addition to other well-preserved period details, the property also includes a mansard-roofed carriage house with cupola.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

The 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame house was built about 1847, and was one of four temple-front mansions built in the Newton Corner area. Of these, it is the only one still standing. It has typical hallmarks of the Greek Revival style, with flushboarded facade, corner pilasters, and an entrance flanked by pilasters and set under a pediment. The property also includes a period carriage house. Jonas Salisbury was a significant property owner in Newton.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

The Potter Estate is a historic estate at 65-71 Walnut Park in Newton, Massachusetts. The centerpiece of the estate is a large Second Empire mansion house which was constructed in 1867 by John Potter, Jr., a shoe and leather businessman. It has a mansard roof characteristic of the style, bracketed eaves, and a single-story wraparound porch that is a later Colonial Revival addition. The estate includes several outbuildings dating to Potter's time, including a carriage house and gardener's cottage; the estate also has period cast iron fencing.The estate was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

The Jackson Homestead, located at 527 Washington Street, in the village of Newton Corner, in Newton, Massachusetts, is an historic house that served as a station on the Underground Railroad before the Civil War. It was built in 1809 in the Federal style by Timothy Jackson (1756–1814) on his family's farm. His son William Jackson (1783–1855) lived in it from 1820 until his death. William Jackson was an abolitionist and was active in politics on the local, state and national levels and served in the United States Congress from 1833 to 1837. The home was occupied by his family until 1932 when it was rented out. In 1949 it was given to the city of Newton and in 1950 the Newton History Museum was established there.

Built about 1830, it is a good local example of Greek Revival architecture, important as home to Henry Bigelow, a prominent local educator and philanthropist. On September 4, 1986, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

The Watertown Dam spans the Charles River 980 feet (300 m) upstream from the Watertown Bridge near Watertown Square in Watertown, Massachusetts. The dam is located where the Charles River tidal estuary historically ended (the tides no longer reach this point because of the downstream Charles River Dam). Watertown Dam is of concrete construction, a gravity dam, last rebuilt in 1966. Its length is 220 feet (67 m). Its capacity is 30 acre-feet (37,000 m3). Normal storage is 20 acre-feet (25,000 m3). It drains an area of 0.2 square miles (0.52 km2).The history of the dam traces back to 1632 when construction of a fish weir was authorized. The current dam, maintained by the Department of Conservation and Recreation, dates from 1900. It is part of the Upper Charles River Reservation.
