The Deacon Daniel Green House is a historic house at 747 Main Street in Wakefield, Massachusetts. It is a 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame house, with a gable roof and clapboard siding. It was built early in the Federal period (1750-1785), and is one of a few surviving examples of a local architectural variant, three bays wide and four bays deep. The house was occupied by Deacon Daniel Green in 1785, who moved to South Reading (as Wakefield was then known), from Stoneham.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

The Samuel Gould House is a historic house at 48 Meriam Street in Wakefield, Massachusetts. Built c. 1735, it is one of the oldest houses in Wakefield, and its only surviving period 1+1⁄2-story gambrel-roofed house. It was built by Samuel Gould, whose family came to the area in the late 17th century. It has had modest later alterations, including a Greek Revival door surround dating to the 1830s-1850s, a porch, and the second story gable dormers.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

The Dr. S. O. Richardson House is a historic house at 694 Main Street in Wakefield, Massachusetts, United States. Built in the late 1830s, this wood-frame house is one of the finest Greek Revival houses in Wakefield, and was the home of Dr. Solon O. Richardson, a locally prominent physician and real estate developer. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

The Michael Sweetser House is a historic house at 15 Nahant Street in Wakefield, Massachusetts. The 2+1⁄2-story timber-frame house was built c. 1755 by Michael Sweetser, an early settler of the area. It is traditionally Georgian in character, although its front door surround was added during Greek Revival period of the mid 19th century. One of the house's 19th century occupants was Paul Hart Sweetser, one of the founders of the Massachusetts Teachers Association and a locally active politician.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

Greenwood station is an MBTA Commuter Rail station on the Haverhill Line located in the Greenwood neighborhood of Wakefield, Massachusetts. The station consists of two side platforms serving the line's two tracks. The low-level platforms are not accessible. The ticket office in the station building closed on February 22, 1952. By 1962, the former station building was relocated to the Pleasure Island amusement park for use on an antique railroad. The façade of the Lomita Railroad Museum, located 2,608 miles (4,197 km) away in Lomita, California, is a replica of the original Greenwood station.

The US Post Office-Woburn Center Station is a historic post office building at 1 Abbott Street in Woburn, Massachusetts. The single story Classical Revival building was built out of sandstone in 1911. It is nine bays in width, with a central portico supported by Doric columns sheltering the main entrance. The building has a standing seam metal hip roof with a flat middle section. The cornice has dentil molding, with a parapet above.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.

Greenwood Union Church is a historic church at 4 Oak Street in Wakefield, Massachusetts. The church was built in 1884 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

The House at 5 Bennett Street in Wakefield, Massachusetts, is also known as the Wakefield House for Aged Women, and is one of the largest houses in Wakefield's Junction District. The original part of the house was built sometime between 1875 and 1881, with Italianate styling. It was probably built for an executive of the Wakefield Rattan Company. In 1894 the house was purchased by the Wakefield House for Aged Women, a charity established by local Protestant churches, and significantly expanded. During this major alteration some of the house's Italianate details were copied, and a Queen Anne style porch was added.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

The House at 52 Oak Street in Wakefield, Massachusetts is one of the most elaborate Colonial Revival houses in the Greenwood section of town. The 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame house was built in the 1890s. It has significant Queen Anne styling, including a turret and wraparound porch, but porch details such as the multiple columns on paneled piers are Colonial Revival in style, as are the hip-roof dormers. The house was built by Henry Savage, a developer with ultimately unsuccessful plans to develop the Greenwood area residentially in the 1880s.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

On December 26, 2000, a mass shooting took place at Edgewater Technology in Wakefield, Massachusetts, United States. Michael Morgan McDermott, an application support employee, shot and killed seven of his coworkers. It is the deadliest mass shooting in Massachusetts history.The weapons he used were an AK-47 variant, a 12-gauge shotgun and a .32 caliber pistol. He fired off a total of 37 rounds, shooting his victims in the back of the head repeatedly. Police later found a .460-calibre Weatherby Mark V rifle in McDermott's locker.He was found by police sitting calmly and stated that he did not speak German. At trial, he stated that he was born without a soul and that God had allowed him to earn a soul by traveling back in time to kill Nazis. However, the prosecution asserted that the killings were motivated by his employer's garnishment of his wages for the IRS in order to pay back taxes that he owed. Evidence also showed that he had researched how to fake mental illness.McDermott was found guilty of seven counts of first degree murder. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

The Oliver House, also known as the Smith-Oliver House, is a historic house at 58 Oak Street in Wakefield, Massachusetts. Probably built in the late 18th century, this Federal period house is distinctive for its association with the now-suburban area's agrarian past, and as a two-family residence of the period, with two "Beverly jogs". The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014.

The Massachusetts State Armory is a historic armory in Wakefield, Massachusetts. Built in 1913, it is a fine local example of Classical Revival architecture, and a symbol of the town's long military history. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989. It presently houses the Americal Civic Center, a local community center.
