The canton of Gif-sur-Yvette is an administrative division of the Essonne department, Île-de-France region, northern France. Its borders were modified at the French canton reorganisation which came into effect in March 2015. Its seat is in Gif-sur-Yvette.It consists of the following communes:

Gif-sur-Yvette (French pronunciation: [ʒif syʁ ivɛt] , lit. "Gif-on-Yvette") is a commune in southwestern Île-de-France, France. It is located in the Vallée de Chevreuse, 22.9 km (14.2 mi) from the centre of Paris (at Notre-Dame), in the Essonne department, on the departmental border with Yvelines. In 2021, it had a population of 22,352.

Gif-sur-Yvette station (French: Gare de Gif-sur-Yvette) is an RER B station in Gif-sur-Yvette, near Paris, France. It is one of two stations in Gif-sur-Yvette, the other is Courcelle-sur-Yvette. Freight traffic through Gif-sur-Yvette ended in 1972. An underpass was built in 1977 to connect the two platforms. In 2008/2009, an elevator was constructed to allow disabled access.

The Institut de Chimie des Substances Naturelles ("Institute for the chemistry of natural substances"), or ICSN, is part of the Centre national de la recherche scientifique, France's most prominent public research organization. Located at Gif-sur-Yvette, near Paris, ICSN is France's largest state-run chemistry research institute. SOLEIL ("Sun" in French) is a synchrotron facility near Paris, France. It performed its first acceleration of electrons on May 14, 2006. The name SOLEIL is a backronym for Source optimisée de lumière d’énergie intermédiaire du LURE (LURE optimised intermediary energy light source), LURE meaning Laboratoire pour l'utilisation du rayonnement électromagnétique. The facility is run by a civil corporation held by the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) and the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA), two French national research agencies. It is located in Saint-Aubin in the Essonne département, a south-western suburb of Paris, near Gif-sur-Yvette and Saclay, which host other facilities for nuclear and particle physics.The facility is an associate member of the University of Paris-Saclay.SOLEIL also hosts IPANEMA, the European research platform on ancient materials (archaeology, palaeontology, past environments and cultural heritage), a joint CNRS / French Ministry of Culture and Communication research unit.SOLEIL covers fundamental research needs in physics, chemistry, material sciences, life sciences (notably in the crystallography of biological macromolecules), earth sciences, and atmospheric sciences. It offers the use of a wide range of spectroscopic methods from infrared to X-rays, and structural methods such as X-ray diffraction and scattering.

Saint-Aubin (French pronunciation: [sɛ̃.t‿obɛ̃] ) is a commune in the Essonne department in Île-de-France in northern France. Inhabitants of Saint-Aubin are known as Saint-Aubinois.

La Hacquinière stations is one of the two RER B stations of Bures-sur-Yvette, near Paris, in France. It is also the name of a district of this town.

Gometz-le-Châtel (French pronunciation: [ɡɔmɛs lə ʃɑtɛl] ) is a commune in the Essonne department of France. It is a southern suburb of Paris, 25 km from the center of Paris.

The Vaularon is a small river in southern Île-de-France (France), left tributary of the Yvette, in Bures-sur-Yvette, which is a tributary of the Orge and then the Seine. Its source is in Gometz-le-Chatel, in the Essonne department. It is 3.8 km (2.4 mi) long.

Villiers-le-Bâcle (French pronunciation: [vilje lə bakl] ) is a commune in the Essonne department in Île-de-France in northern France. Inhabitants of Villiers-le-Bâcle are known as Villebaclais. The painter Tsugouharu Foujita is buried in the commune's cemetery.

Gometz-la-Ville (French pronunciation: [ɡɔmɛs la vil] ) is a French communes in the Essonne department in the southern suburbs of Paris (25 km) from the center of Paris. Inhabitants of Gometz-la-Ville are named Gometziens.

Bures-sur-Yvette station is one of the two RER B station of Bures-sur-Yvette, near Paris, in France. This station is used to access University of Paris-Sud, and Institut des Hautes Études Scientifiques.
