Akron Art Museum

The Gothic Building is a historic building in Akron, Ohio. It was designed by prominent Akron architect Frank O. Weary and built in 1902. Weary also designed a Carnegie Library (Akron Public Library), county courthouses, and school buildings in Akron and other areas of Ohio, as well as significant buildings in other states. The Colonial Theatre was attached to the Gothic Building. The Gothic Building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.Tax credits for the redevelopment of historic buildings have been used to redevelop it and other historic buildings in downtown Akron by Tony Troppe. The Gothic Building was documented for the Historic American Buildings Survey. It is described as Tudor revival architecture.

The Akron-Summit County Public Library is a public library system in Akron, Ohio. Founded in 1874, it operates the Main Library on South High Street and South Main Street in downtown Akron, 18 branch libraries throughout the city of Akron and Summit County, the Akron Art Library (located on the Second Floor of Main Library, and at the Ellet Branch, the North Hill Branch, and the Odom Boulevard Branch), the Project LEARN of Summit County Training Room (located on the First Floor of Main Library), Mobile Services (located on the Lower Floor of Main Library), and Project LEARN of Summit County (also located on the Lower Floor of Main Library). As of 2013, they have a lion cub mascot, named Paws.

The Main–Market Historic District is a historic district located in Akron, Ohio. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.

The Akron Public Library is located on the north-east corners of East Market Street and South High Street in downtown Akron, Ohio, United States. Also known as the Carnegie Building, it was built in 1904 using a donation of $82,000 from U.S. industrialist Andrew Carnegie. It was designed by Akron architect Frank O. Weary and is an example of Beaux Arts Classicism. It served as Akron's public library from 1904 to 1942, and as an art museum from 1922 to 1932 before being converted to office space. The building is currently occupied by Brennan, Manna & Diamond, LLC.It was the first permanent home of the Akron Art Institute, from 1948 to 1981.It is a monumental one-story block building, faced with "smooth-dressed coursed ashlar of Ohio buff sandstone. Elements of Beaux Arts style are its colossal columns, its detailed entablature, and parapet. Elements of French Renaissance sub-style are its mansard roof, the projecting front pavilion, and the "grotesque mask above the entry". It was regarded as one of Weary's best works.The building was listed in the National Register of Historic Places on January 19, 1983.

The John S. Knight Center is a large convocation center located in Akron, Ohio, named after the newspaper publisher and editor John S. Knight. Opening in June 1994, it is a 123,000-square-foot (11,400 m2) facility with 43,000 square feet (4,000 m2) of exhibit space, a 12,000-square-foot (1,100 m2) banquet hall, a conference center, and 18 meeting rooms.

The John F. Seiberling Federal Building and United States Courthouse is a building located in downtown Akron, Ohio. The building is named after John F. Seiberling, a United States representative from Ohio who helped create the Cuyahoga Valley National Park and served on the House Judiciary Committee that led the impeachment process against Richard Nixon. The building was constructed in 1974, and is an example of Brutalist architecture. It stands six stories tall. At the urging Congressman William Ayres, the cornerstone for the building was placed during the Nixon Administration, 1970. The main tenants of the building are the United States District and Bankruptcy Courts, the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, the United States Attorney, United States Probation and Pretrial Services, United States Marshals, Internal Revenue Service, Social Security Administration, Veterans Affairs, and the Department of Labor.

Huntington Tower, earlier known as FirstMerit Tower, First National Bank Building, the First Central Tower and the First Central Trust Building, is a skyscraper in Akron, Ohio. The centerpiece of downtown Akron, it sits in the Cascade Plaza at the corner of King James Way and East Mill Street. The 330 ft (100 m) tower has been the city's tallest building since its completion in 1931.The 27-story building is art deco in style and is covered in glazed architectural terra-cotta. Its lobby is built of Tennessee marble, white brick, and terra cotta, and features a large banking hall with arched windows.The tower is also noted for its role in local broadcasting. Studios for WAKR radio were originally housed in the ground level from 1940 until 1953. The top of the building also held a television mast originally used by WAKR's TV adjacent, WAKR-TV (now WVPX-TV) and WAKR-FM. Erected in 1953 for WAKR-TV's sign-on and later donated to PBS member station WEAO, the antenna reached a height of 134.7 metres (442 ft) but was removed in 2019.

The Eagles Temple was a prominent Fraternal Order of Eagles building in downtown Akron, Ohio, United States. With its high-styled Art Deco architecture, it was home to an organization with thousands of members, and it was designated a historic site when not yet sixty-five years old.

The CitiCenter Building is a historic high-rise building in Akron, Ohio. The eleven-story structure is the eleventh-tallest in the city, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.The building was constructed in 1931 as a Young Women's Christian Association branch. The building was purchased by a developer in 1985. It then held the CitiCenter Athletic Club, which closed in 2018. The building also held multiple city departments, until vacating around 2018.In 2018, a Cleveland-based developer purchased the building. The company then proposed it for redevelopment at a cost of $28 million, to create 95 apartments and three floors of office space. The building project won a $3 million state tax credit in 2020, allowing the project to begin.

Quaker Square was a shopping and dining complex located in downtown Akron, Ohio which is now used by the University of Akron. Quaker Square was the original Quaker Oats factory; the complex consists of the former mill, factory, and silos. The buildings were bought in the early 1970s by developers who sought to create a unique, useful home for shops and restaurants. The buildings were bought by the University of Akron in 2007. The hotel has been converted to a residence hall. The retail space consisted of dozens of small shops and restaurants, and there were large areas of historic exhibits on such areas as the local Quaker industry and history of radio in Akron, while offices were on the floors above. Quaker Square was open to the general public until September 18, 2015. After that, the hotel no longer accepted reservations as the former hotel rooms and the entire complex began to be operated exclusively for student and university use. The University fully vacated the facility by 2022.

Cascade Plaza is an open space with plantings and pedestrian walkways in Akron, Ohio. It was developed in the late 1960s as part of an urban renewal project that also included construction of two high rises. As of 2013 plans were going forward for a major overhaul.

The Akron City Center Hotel is an 18-story hotel building in downtown Akron, Ohio. The 306-room hotel structure is the fifth-tallest in the city. It was constructed beginning in June 1970 as part of Cascade Plaza, an urban renewal project, and opened in 1971 as the Cascade Holiday Inn.Two lower floors of the building are part of the five-level underground Cascade Parking Garage, which opened in 1968. The hotel cost $6.6 million, constructed by the Ruhlin Construction Co. for a Columbus-based developer. During its construction, the nearby Mayflower Hotel closed, in May 1971, knowing the older hotel could not compete with the new structure. In 1991, the building lost its Holiday Inn franchise and became the Cascade Plaza Hotel. In 1993, a partnership purchased the building, and in 1996 it opened as the Ramada Plaza Hotel, after a total renovation. In 1998, it became the Radisson Hotel Akron City Centre. After another decade, it became the Akron City Center Hotel. The hotel closed in the winter of 2016–2017, and its contents were liquidated. A developer proposed converting the building to become residential around 2018, but the COVID-19 pandemic affected the plans. The building currently sits vacant.The hotel building was designed by William Bond Jr. and Associates, a Memphis company that designed all Holiday Inns. The work was likened to a "baby United Nations building".
