Hambridge and Westport

The Church of St James the Less is a Church of England parish church in Hambridge, Somerset, England. It was designed by Benjamin Ferrey and built in 1842–44. The church has been a Grade II listed building since 1988. Adjacent the church is a former national school, which was built in 1844 and is also Grade II listed.

Earnshill House in Hambridge, near Curry Rivel, Somerset, England is a manor house, set in parkland. It was built in 1725 for Henry Combe, a Bristol merchant by John Strachan. It has been designated as a Grade I listed building.

Midelney Manor in Drayton, Somerset, England was built in the late 16th century in two distinct halves by Richard and Thomas Trevillian. It has been designated as a Grade I listed building.The manor house is sited on a former island site, and was the property of Muchelney Abbey, passing to the Trevillian family after the dissolution of the monasteries. The building incorporates fragments of an earlier medieval building on the site which burned down.At the rear of the house is an 18th-century falcon mews.In 1985 the Manor was the venue for a television quiz series in which guests identify the origin and use of various artifacts.

Barrington Court is a Tudor manor house begun around 1538 and completed in the late 1550s, with a vernacular stable court (1675), situated in Barrington, near Ilminster, Somerset, England. The house was owned by several families by 1745 after which it fell into disrepair and was used as a tenant farm. After repair by architect Alfred Hoare Powell (1865–1960), it was acquired by the National Trust in 1907, on the recommendation of the antiquarian Canon Hardwicke Rawnsley (1851–1920). It has been described as the first house acquired by the National Trust, although Alfriston Clergy House, a more modest property, was acquired earlier. In the 1920s the house was renovated after Colonel Lyle and his wife 'Ronnie' agreed to take on a ninety-nine year repairing lease from the Trust, and work began in 1921. The stable block turned into a residence and several outbuildings, gardens and gateways were constructed. The house was originally surrounded by a medieval deer park and in the 17th century a formal garden was constructed. This had largely disappeared until a new garden was laid out by garden designer Gertrude Jekyll (1843–1932) in an Arts and Crafts-style. It now contains walled kitchen gardens, fruit orchards and ornamental gardens.

Barrington is a village and civil parish, situated 10 miles (16.1 km) south east of Taunton and 10 miles (16.1 km) west of Yeovil in Somerset, England. The village has a population of 438.The village is located on the southern edge of the Somerset Levels and many of the houses are built from cob and thatched with local reeds.

The Church of St Mary the Virgin in Barrington, Somerset, England dates from the 13th century and has been designated as a Grade I listed building.St Mary's Church has a three bay nave two bay chancel. There is an unusual octagonal tower, which includes a bell dating from 1743 and made by Thomas Bilbie of the Bilbie family.The south transept includes a 13th-century canopied piscina. There is a 19th-century panelled pulpit which may contain fragments of an earlier construction.The parish is part of the benefice of Winsmoor within the deanery of Crewkerne and Ilminster.

Burrow Hill Cider Farm is a cider farm in Somerset, England at the base of Burrow Hill overlooking the Somerset Levels. It has views of most of South Somerset on clear days. The cider is made in traditional vats and uses age old traditional methods of production. Every October is "Apple Day" when the apples are harvested from locally owned orchards. In 2003 the company won the NFU Great British Food Award.

Drayton is a village and civil parish in Somerset, England, focussed less than a mile from Curry Rivel and five miles southwest of Somerton in the South Somerset district. It adjoins the River Isle, near its confluence with the Parrett, and the former Westport Canal. The parish includes the hamlet of Midelney. The village has a population of 379 and is home to St Catherine's parish church and the Drayton Crown pub.

Fivehead River (also known as the River Earn or Rag or Ragg River) flows through south Somerset, England. It is named after the village of Fivehead, near to two Sites of Special Scientific Interest at Fivehead Arable Fields and Fivehead Woods and Meadow.The source of the river is from various streams around Batten's Green and Ashill south west of Staple Fitzpaine, and flows east past Hatch Beauchamp and Beercrocombe where it is joined by several small tributaries. It then flows north east, past Isle Abbots, joining the River Isle north of Isle Brewers.The 18th century road bridge over the river is a Grade II listed building.

The Church of St Catherine in Drayton, Somerset, England dates from the 15th century. It has been designated as a Grade I listed building.St Catherine's exterior is blue lias and golden hamstone. It was restored in 1855 by Maurice Davis of Langport and again in 1896.The 15th-century cross in the churchyard has a sculpture of St Michael with a sword and shield in the act of vanquishing a dragon.In 2002 plans to put a new floor in the tower provoked objections from parishioners and was eventually resolved by the Ecclesiastical Court.The rectory, known as Drayton Court, which dates from the early 19th century, is now a private house.The parish is part of the benefice covered by the Langport Area Team Ministry within the deanery of Ivelchester.

The Church of St Andrew in Curry Rivel, Somerset, England dates from the 13th century and is designated as a Grade I listed building. It was included in Simon Jenkins England's Thousand Best Churches.The oldest part of the church is the north chapel which is Norman, however there may have been an earlier Saxon church on the same site. Most of the church is from the 15th century. An earlier tower was demolished and rebuilt in 1861 when the interior was also refashioned. Within the tower are eight bells, the oldest of which is from 1510.The interior includes several 13th century monuments and a parclose screen.The Anglican parish is within the benefice of Curry Rivel with Fivehead and Swell, within the Taunton archdeaconry.

West Moor (grid reference ST420220) is a 213.0 hectare (526.3 acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest on the River Parrett in Somerset, notified in 1985. West Moor lies south of Curry Rivel, Langport, and Drayton, and northwest of Kingsbury Episcopi and is part of the extensive grazing marsh grasslands and ditch systems of the Somerset Levels and moors. The site contains some of the most diverse aquatic plant communities in the country. Rhynes often have a rich aquatic flora Frogbit (Hydrocharis morsus-ranae). A rich invertebrate fauna, with many nationally and locally rare species is associated with the botanical diversity of the ditches.
