The Alexander Schuke Potsdam Orgelbau is a company to build pipe organs, founded in 1820 in Potsdam. It was taken over by Alexander Schuke in 1894, and by his sons Karl Schuke and Hans-Joachim Schuke in 1933. From 1950, Hans-Joachim Schuke ran the workshop, now in East Germany, from 1953. It became a VEB, Potsdamer Schuke-Orgelbau in 1972, but Matthias Schuke was able to reprivatise it in 1990 after German reunification, naming it after his grandfather Alexander Schuke Potsdam Orgelbau. He moved the workshop to Werder (Havel) in 2004 and passed leadership to his sons in 2018.

A Tiene (plural: Tienen), sometimes also called Tine or Obsttiene (Obst is German for fruit), was a special container for transporting wine and fruit. These were used until shortly after the First World War, mostly in the Brandenburg city of Werder in northern Germany. Normally the wooden tubs were carried on people's backs to small boats and shipped on the Havel River to market stalls in Berlin.

The Werderaner Wachtelberg is a 6.2 hectares (15 acres) vineyard in the town of Werder (Havel) in Brandenburg. As the northernmost outpost of the Saale-Unstrut wine region, it is the most northern registered location for QbA quality wine in Germany.

Werder (Havel) (official name derived from Werder an der Havel ("Werder upon Havel"), colloquially just Werder) is a town in the state of Brandenburg, Germany, located on the Havel river in the Potsdam-Mittelmark district, west of the state's capital Potsdam. Werder has a long and rich history and is a nationally recognized Erholungsort – a government designation given to regions of Germany that have been recognized and must be continuously re-certified as having air and climate qualities which provide a healthful environment to visitors. Werder is also famous for hosting one of Germany's three largest festivals, the Baumblütenfest, held annually in May.

Wublitz is a river of Brandenburg, Germany. It flows into the Großer Zernsee, which is drained by the Havel, near Werder (Havel).

The Sacrow–Paretz Canal, or Sacrow-Paretzer-Kanal in German (pronounced [ˈzakʁoː ˈpaːʁɛt͡sɐ kaˈnaːl] (listen)), is a canal in the northeastern German state of Brandenburg. It provides a short cut for vessels navigating the River Havel, linking the Jungfernsee, near Potsdam, with Paretz. Building of the canal began in 1874, and it was opened in 1876. Since then, it has been widened and deepened twice, once between 1888 and 1890, and again in the 1920s. Unlike the Havel Canal, which also provides a short cut for the River Havel, and also has its downstream end at Paretz, both ends of the Sacrow–Paretz Canal are downstream of Berlin. The canal is 12.5 kilometres (7.8 mi) long, of which 7.5 kilometres (4.7 mi) comprises artificially cut channel, whilst the rest is accounted for by several lakes. Besides the Jungfernsee, these include the Weißer See, the Fahrlander See and the Schlänitzsee. The canal has no locks, and is crossed by four bridges.

Golm is a locality (Ortsteil) of Potsdam, the capital of the German state of Brandenburg. The former municipality was incorporated in 2003. Its name is derived from Western Slavic chulm, meaning "hill", and refers to one of the nearby elevations, either Reiherberg (68 m (223 ft) a.s.l.) near the centre of the original village or Ehrenpfortenberg (57 m (187 ft) a.s.l.) east of it.

Schwielowsee (German pronunciation: [ˈʃviːloːˌzeː] (listen)) is a lake in the state of Brandenburg, Germany. It is situated to the south and west of the city of Potsdam. The villages of Caputh, Ferch and Geltow, on the banks of the lake, form the municipality of Schwielowsee. The lake is some 5.4 kilometres (3.4 mi) long, with a maximum width of 2.0 kilometres (1.2 mi) and a surface area is 7.86 square kilometres (3.03 sq mi). It lies at an elevation of 29.3 metres (96 ft) above sea level, and has a maximum depth of 9.1 metres (30 ft). The navigable River Havel flows through the eastern end of the lake, entering it at Caputh via a short channel from the Templiner See, and exiting to the north. The lake is also navigable to its south-western end at Ferch. Navigation is administered as part of the Untere Havel–Wasserstraße.

The Kommando Landstreitkräfte (short: Kdo LaSK or Kommando LaSK) was the Army staff — and simultaneously the Army command of the National People's Army (NPA) Land Forces of the former GDR.

The Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces (German: Max-Planck-Institut für Kolloid- und Grenzflächenforschung) is located in Potsdam-Golm Science Park in Golm, Potsdam, Germany. It was founded in 1990 as a successor of the Institute for Physical Chemistry and for Organic Chemistry, both in Berlin-Adlershof, and for Polymer Chemistry in Teltow. In 1999, it transferred to newly constructed extension facilities in Golm. It is one of 80 institutes in the Max Planck Society (Max-Planck-Gesellschaft).

The Max Planck Institute of Molecular Plant Physiology (German: Max-Planck-Institut für molekulare Pflanzenphysiologie) is a German research institute for molecular plant physiology, based in the Golm district of Potsdam, Brandenburg. Founded on 1 January 1994, the MPIMP focuses on the study of the dynamics of plant metabolism and how that relates to the entire plant system. The institution is one of the 80 institutes in the Max Planck Society (Max-Planck-Gesellschaft).
