Frogmore is an unincorporated community on St. Helena Island in Beaufort County, South Carolina, United States, along U.S. Route 21.Located halfway between Beaufort and Hunting Island State Park, the Frogmore area is primarily rural but is considered to be the commercial center of St. Helena Island. Frogmore is also the name of a plantation that has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The plantation is located off Seaside Road on Frogmore Manor Drive and is significant for its association with Laura Towne and Ellen Murray, the founders of Penn School. Frogmore is renowned for being home to the Penn School Historic District, known as Penn Center, a National Historic Landmark. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. studied and lectured at Penn Center during the formative years of his career as a civil rights leader. The museum at Penn Center is a noted cultural attraction and attracts tourists worldwide who are also interested in learning more about this region of the coastal Southeastern United States. Frogmore Stew, a popular Lowcountry dish originated in the Frogmore community. In addition to Frogmore Plantation and the Penn School Historic District, the Emanuel Alston House, Dr. York Bailey House, Coffin Point Plantation, Coffin Point Plantation Caretaker's House, The Corner Packing Shed, The Corner Store and Office, Eddings Point Community Praise House, Fort Fremont Battery, Fort Fremont Hospital, Edgar Fripp Mausoleum, St. Helena Island Parish Church, Isaac Fripp House Ruins, The Green, Mary Jenkins Community Praise House, Lands End Road Tabby Ruins, The Oaks, Orange Grove Plantation, Pine Island Plantation Complex, Riverside Plantation Tabby Ruins, St. Helena Parish Chapel of Ease Ruins, St. Helenaville Archaeological Site, Sams Plantation Complex Tabby Ruins, Robert Simmons House, and Tombee Plantation are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Summit Plantation House is an historic building in Adams Run, South Carolina, USA. The house was built for William and Amarinthia Wilkinson in 1819. The house was listed in the National Register on July 28, 1983.

The Wilkinson-Boineau House is a significant example of an early 19th-century Greek Revival residence with minor 20th-century alterations. William Wilkinson, a planter, established a village, Wilkinsonville, about 1830 that bears his name, and the house was the first one built. He lived for most of the year at his plantation on Swinton Creek. Milton Carroll Boineau acquired the property in the 1920s. In the 1930s, the family built a one-story addition on the back and removed part of the central hall. The house is on tall brick piers. The original part was a two-story central hall house. A hip-roofed porch along the entire front is accessed by a brick staircase. The house has square edge weatherboarding and a tall lateral gable roof. The original windows were nine-over-nine double-hung sashes, but two-over-two double-hung sashes were used to replace them in the 1930s or 1940s. The roof is corrugated metal.The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places January 21, 1999.

Cassina Point (also known as the Hopkinson House and Cassina Point Plantation) was built in 1847 for Carolina Lafayette Seabrook and her husband, James Hopkinson. Carolina Seabrook was the daughter of wealthy Edisto Island planter William Seabrook. William Seabrook had hosted the General Lafayette in 1825 at his nearby home at the time of Carolina's birth. Seabrook gave Lafayette the honor of naming the newborn child, and the general selected Carolina (for the girl's birthplace) and Lafayette (after his own name). When Carolina Seabrook married James Hopkinson, they built Cassina Point on the land given to them by William Seabrook.The house is a large antebellum house and remnant of a sea island cotton plantation. James Hopkinson was a grandson of Francis Hopkinson, a signer of the Declaration of Independence from New Jersey and designer of the American flag. During the Civil War, the house was occupied by the Third New Hampshire Volunteer Infantry.Features of the 2+1⁄2-story, rectangular house include a side-gable roof, pediments, a Flemish-bond basement, brick chimneys with stuccoed necking, a roof porch supported by columns, marble mantles, and bull's-eye moulding. The interior of the house was preserved well over the years. The exterior is clad in weatherboard and flushboard. Cassina Point was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 28, 1986.

Baptist Hill High School is a public high school in Hollywood, South Carolina. It is part of the Charleston County School District. Most of its students are African American. Bobcats are the school mascot. The school was built circa 1953 at a cost of approximately $250,000. In 1954, Jet reported that a janitor at the school's new cement block building believed it was haunted by a student who drowned before receiving a diploma. In 1977, the school was set on fire, causing $125,000 in damage.In 2017, the school's football team played for a state championship.The school district launched a cultural competency program to address much lower scores among African American and Hispanic students than white students at its largely segregated schools.

The Battle of Simmon's Bluff was a minor and bloodless Union victory, fought June 21, 1862, in Meggett, South Carolina, during the American Civil War. Union forces had laid siege to Charleston, which was being resupplied from a nearby railroad. Union forces were eager to capture the city, so they sent the 55th Pennsylvania Infantry regiment to sever the rail line. The 55th Pennsylvania departed by sea shortly before the battle in search of a place to land closer to the railroad. On June 21, the 55th Pennsylvania came ashore at Wadmalaw Sound. Union forces discovered an encampment of the 16th South Carolina Infantry regiment, and quickly razed the encampment and engaged the Confederate forces. The Confederates scattered after the encampment was razed and were unable to launch an effective counterattack. There were no reports of injuries on either side. After the raid, the Union forces returned to their ships and abandoned their original objective, which was to interrupt the rail line to Charleston.

John Seabrook Plantation Bridge, also known as Admiral George Palmer's Bridge, is a historic arch bridge located at Rockville, Charleston County, South Carolina. It was built about 1782, and is constructed of brick veneer enclosing a fill mixture of crushed oyster shells and rammed earth.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.

Botany Bay Heritage Preserve & Wildlife Management Area is a state preserve on Edisto Island, South Carolina. Botany Bay Plantation was formed in the 1930s from the merger of the Colonial-era Sea Cloud Plantation and Bleak Hall Plantation. In 1977, it was bequeathed to the state as a wildlife preserve; it was opened to the public in 2008. The preserve includes a number of registered historic sites, including two listed in the National Register of Historic Places: a set of three surviving 1840s outbuildings from Bleak Hall Plantation, and the prehistoric Fig Island shell rings.
