Pinole Creek is a stream in western Contra Costa County, in the East Bay region of the San Francisco Bay Area, California. The creek has one of the last primarily undeveloped watersheds in the Bay Area.

The Bernardo Fernandez House is a Victorian mansion located at 100 Tenant Ave in Pinole, California. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Hercules is a city in western Contra Costa County, California. Situated along the coast of San Pablo Bay, it is located in the eastern region of the San Francisco Bay Area, about 10 miles (16 km) north of Berkeley, California. As of the 2020 census, its population was 26,016, according to the United States Census Bureau. The site of Hercules was first developed in 1881 as a manufacturing facility of the California Powder Works for the production of its patented dynamite formulation, Hercules powder. In 1882, the Hercules Powder Company was incorporated and assumed responsibility for the Hercules site. It was one of several explosive manufacturers that were active along the Pinole shoreline in the late 19th to the mid-20th century. The small company town that grew up near the facility subsequently became known as "Hercules", and was incorporated at the end of 1900. Starting in the 1970s, Hercules was heavily redeveloped as suburban bedroom community that lies along the I-80 corridor in Western Contra Costa County. It has a very ethnically diverse population.

The Bank of Pinole is located at 2361 San Pablo Ave. in Pinole, California. Located in Old Town Pinole The Bank of Pinole was built in 1915 by E.M. Downer, Sr. and remained as a bank till the 1960s. It is currently owned by the City of Pinole and currently does not have a tenant. It is a one-story building.

Hercules station (officially the Hercules Regional Intermodal Transit Center) is a proposed intermodal infill train station and ferry terminal in Hercules, California in Contra Costa County. It is to be the first direct Amtrak-to-ferry transit hub in the San Francisco Bay Area and will be constructed in between the existing Richmond and Martinez stations. By July 2018, three of the station's six construction phases had been complete, including street at Bay Trail approaches. However, no proposed opening date has yet been announced by the City of Hercules.

Pinole (Spanish for "cornmeal") is a city in Contra Costa County, California, United States. The population was 18,390 at the 2010 census.

Refugio Creek (pronounced REH-foo-GEE-oh from Spanish refugio meaning: shelter) is a 4.4-mile-long (7.1 km) watercourse running through the Refugio Valley from the hills of western Contra Costa County, California.

The company was founded in 1952 in Berkeley, California, by husband and wife team David and Alice Schwartz, both graduates of the University of California, Berkeley. Bio-Rad is based in Hercules, California, and has operations worldwide.

Pinole Valley High School is a high school in Pinole, California, United States, in Contra Costa County. First opened in 1967, the school is part of the West Contra Costa Unified School District. Pinole Valley High serves grades 9–12, and has approximately 1,200 students from Pinole, northwest Richmond and the unincorporated communities of Bayview, Montalvin Manor and Tara Hills. The school is noted for its girls' basketball team. Coach Dan O'Shea was named "Coach of the Year" in May 2006 by the Oakland Tribune. The Pinole Valley Spartans Football Team won a NCS Championship in 2022.

Bayview is a census-designated place in Contra Costa County, California. Bayview sits at an elevation of 36 feet (11 m). The 2010 United States census reported Bayview's population was 1,754. Prior to 2010, Bayview was part of the Bayview-Montalvin CDP and then separated into the two individual communities of Bayview and Montalvin Manor for the census.

Hercules Transit Center is a major commuter hub in the western Contra Costa County city of Hercules, California. It is anchored by WestCAT bus services. The center was originally on San Pablo Avenue. In August 2009, the transit center was relocated to the other side of I-80 with additional paid parking. The transit center is a pulse (a timed and synchronized) transfer point for various local feeder bus lines from the adjacent areas of Hercules, Pinole, Rodeo, the northern Hilltop area of Richmond, Bayview-Montalvin, and Tara Hills. The feeder services feed express commuter bus service to El Cerrito del Norte BART station in El Cerrito, downtown Martinez (the county seat) and Martinez Amtrak station. These services provide transfers to AC Transit at Richmond Parkway Transit Center, shopping areas at Hilltop Mall Shopping Center and Pinole Vista Shopping Center and transbay service to the San Francisco Transbay Terminal. The westbound weekday morning commute from this point south towards the San Francisco–Oakland Bay Bridge is the most congested in the San Francisco Bay Area since 2001 according to Caltrans. Studies have been concluded as to the feasibility of running BART service to the Transit Center.

Bayview-Montalvin is a former census-designated place (CDP) in Contra Costa County, California, United States. The population was 5,004 at the 2000 census. Prior to the 2010 census, the CDP was dissolved into Bayview CDP and Montalvin Manor CDP.
