Priest Hutton

St Mary's Church is located to the north of the village of Borwick, Lancashire, England. It is an active Anglican parish church in the deanery of Tunstall, the archdeaconry of Lancaster, and the diocese of Blackburn. Its benefice is united with those of St Oswald, Warton, and St John the Evangelist, Yealand Conyers. The church is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building.

Borwick is a village and civil parish in the City of Lancaster district of Lancashire, England, about 8 miles north of Lancaster, on the Lancaster Canal. It is situated just south of the border with Cumbria. The parish of Borwick had a population of 210 recorded in the 2001 census, decreasing to 181 at the 2011 Census. Borwick railway station was on the former Furness and Midland Joint Railway, now Leeds to Morecambe Line, until its closure in 1960.

Dalton Hall is a country house near Burton-in-Kendal in northern England. The hall lies within the county palatine of Lancaster, while Burton lies in the historic county of Westmorland. Both have formed part of Cumbria since 1974. The hall has been in the ownership of the Hornby family since the late 18th century. Major additions were made to the large Georgian mansion in 1859–60 by Edmund Geoffrey Stanley Hornby (1839-1923), a Deputy Lieutenant for Lancashire, son and heir of Edmund Hornby (1773-1857), MP, to the designs of the Lancaster architect Edward Graham Paley. The building was demolished in 1968 and replaced in 1968–72 by a much smaller new house designed by Clough Williams-Ellis, his last commission. Pevsner described it as "a stately doll's house" which "sits inside the ghost of its predecessor". The outbuildings have been converted to serve a number of commercial purposes, including rental cottages, a self-storage facility, and the Dalton Hall Business Centre.

Capernwray Chapel is in the village of Capernwray, Over Kellet, Lancashire, England. Formerly the chapel to Capernwray Hall, it is now an independent Evangelical chapel. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building.

Capernwray Dive Centre is a large flooded former quarry, presently operated as an inland scuba diving site and training centre, near the village of Over Kellet, Lancashire, England.

Burton-in-Kendal is a village and civil parish on the extreme southern edge of Cumbria, England. The parish contains around 660 houses and in the 2001 census had a population of 1,411, increasing at the 2011 census to 1,497. Historically within the county of Westmorland, the village straddles the A6070 road between Crooklands and Carnforth, at a point around midway between Lancaster and Kendal, and is in the shadow of the nearby limestone outcrop known as Farleton Knott.

Burton-in-Kendal services is a motorway service station on the M6 motorway in Cumbria, England, adjacent to the border with Lancashire. It is located about 4 miles (6 km) north of Carnforth, and approximately 0.5 miles (0.8 km) west of the village of Burton-in-Kendal from which it takes its name. It is accessible to northbound traffic only, with southbound traffic having to use Killington Lake services about 10 miles (16 km) north, or the facilities in the town of Carnforth just off the motorway. It opened on 23 October 1970, operated by Mobil Motorway Services. It is currently operated by Moto.

Capernwray Hall is a former country house situated 3 miles east-northeast of Carnforth, Lancashire, England, and is currently used as a Christian Bible school and holiday centre. The house is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II* listed building. It stands in grounds included in the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens at Grade II.

The Capernwray Missionary Fellowship of Torchbearers (CMFOT), is an evangelical Christian educational organisation based at Capernwray Hall in north Lancashire, England. In 1998 the organisation was incorporated as a UK charitable company. CMFOT was founded by Major W. Ian Thomas in 1947. Other centres have since been established around the world and together form a worldwide fellowship known as Torchbearers International, with headquarters at Ravencrest Chalet, Estes Park, Colorado, USA. Torchbearers International's goal is to provide practical Christian education to develop personal spiritual growth, prepare people for an effective Church life, and teach a working knowledge of the Bible. The organization works by providing a number of Bible schools and Christian conference centres on the world. CMFOT's founder, Major W. Ian Thomas (1914–2007), was an evangelical teacher and has often been identified with the Keswick Convention ministry. The main thrust of his theology is that of the exchanged life or 'Christ in You'. Major Thomas' sons have continued from their father in the wider organisation. Mark Thomas was the managing director at Capernwray Hall, Chris Thomas was the International Director and Director at Ravencrest, Colorado, United States and Peter Thomas is director at Capernwray New Zealand and Moss Vale, Australia.

Mourholme, Maurholme, Morhull or Merhull was a manor and castle in north Lancashire, England, in the present parish of Warton, north of Carnforth. The castle of "Merhull" was surrendered to King John in 1216 by Gilbert Fitz Reinfred. It is not known whether it was built of timber or of stone.The site of the castle was partially excavated in 1975, at which time it had already been damaged by gravel extraction, and the site has since been flooded forming Pine Lake, which lies east of the A6 road and west of the M6 motorway.The name is preserved in the title of the "Mourholme Local History Society: The Society for the Old Parish of Warton, Lancashire", whose area of interest covers the parishes of Borwick, Carnforth, Priest Hutton, Silverdale, Warton, Yealand Conyers and Yealand Redmayne. The Society publishes The Mourholme Magazine of Local History.
