The University of the East College of Law or UE Law is the law school of the University of the East, a private, non-sectarian university in Manila, Philippines.

The Gota de Leche Building is a heritage site located in Sampaloc, Manila, Philippines. It was designated as an Important Cultural Property by the National Museum of the Philippines in August 2014. The cultural heritage site was named an Honourable Mention in the 2003 UNESCO Asia Pacific Heritage Awards.

Gota de Leche (lit. A Drop of Milk) is a foundation started by Trinidad Rizal (sister of Philippine National Hero, Dr. José Rizal) and Concepción Felix on 1906 that primarily aims to provide nutritional and medical needs of indigent Filipino mothers and their children. Founded by La Protección de la Infancia Inc., the foundation continues to deliver daily milk rations to Filipino infants Its headquarters, the Gota de Leche building located at 859 S. Loyota St., Sampaloc, Manila, Philippines, designed by architects Juan Arellano and Arcadio Arellano (founding father of Philippine architecture), was awarded Honourable Mention by the UNESCO Asia Pacific Heritage Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation in 2003. This opened further support from the National Commission on Culture and the Arts. The Gota de Leche Building was declared by the National Museum of the Philippines as an Important Cultural Property in August 2014.

The University of Manila (UM) (Filipino: Ang Pamantasan ng Maynila), is a private, non-sectarian coeducational basic and higher education institution in the heart of Sampaloc District in Manila, Philippines. It was founded on October 5, 1913 as the Instituto de Manila, by Apolinario G. de los Santos, Mariano V. de los Santos, Maria de los Santos, Buenaventura J. Bello and Antonio Rivero. The first three were siblings. They named their school Instituto de Manila, after the city of Manila and Apolinario G. de los Santos was elected as the first director of the school. The University was first situated in Binondo and offered primary and secondary education. It then moved to Sampaloc, Manila.

San Sebastian College – Recoletos (SSC-R), commonly known by its nickname Bastê, is a private Catholic coeducational basic and higher education institution run by the Order of Augustinian Recollects in Manila, Metro Manila, Philippines. It is one of the six schools owned and operated by the Order of Augustinian Recollects in the Philippines. It was founded by the Augustinian Recollects in March 1941. SSC-R, situated in the heart of Manila, in F. R. Hidalgo Street, Quiapo, was named after Roman centurion turned martyr Saint Sebastian. The College had a humble beginning. Its first functional lone building was an old convent: a two-storey Hispanic edifice made of stone and wood with capiz shell windows. The building served as classrooms of the first batch of 200 elementary and high school enrollees. SSC-R was then an exclusive school for boys. SSC-R was established in March 1941 but was in hiatus from 1942 to 1945 during World War II. It formally reopened after the war in 1947. The term Sebastinian, Filipino: Sebastino, refers to alumni and current students, teaching and non-teaching personnel as well as administrators of San Sebastian College-Recoletos. The College was granted Level 3 accreditation by the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities or PAASCU in the Elementary department, High School Department and the College Department, including the Graduate Studies and College of Law. San Sebastian College–Recoletos, Manila maintains the lone and highest slot in Tourism being accredited Level 3 by PAASCU, as well as its Social Sciences programs, Business Administration and Psychology courses.

The Casa Consulado, also known as Iturralde Mansion or Iturralde House, is a heritage house located in Quiapo, Manila, Philippines. The house typifies the architectural style of Bandehadong Bahay na Bato that was common during the 1920s in the Philippines.

The Beaterio de Terciarias Agustinas Recoletas was the oldest convent for the Augustinian Recollect Order in the world established to meet the material and spiritual needs of pious women in the early part of the 18th century in the Philippines. The beaterio was founded by Dionisia de Santa Maria Mitas Talangpaz and Cecilia Rosa de Jesús Talangpaz, two Filipino sisters, both in blood and spirit, who hailed from barrio San Miguel of Calumpit, Bulacan. The convent's name was later changed to Beaterio de San Sebastian de Calumpang, but presently, it is now popularly known as the Congregation of the Augustinian Recollect Sisters. It is one of the three continuing congregation founded for native women in Asia after the Amantes de la Croix, was founded in Vietnam in 1670, and the Beaterio de la Compania de Jesus, now the Congregation of the Religious of the Virgin Mary, was founded in Manila in 1684. The original site of the beaterio was located inside Saint Rita College - Manila, one of the first three houses of the Augustinian Recollect Sisters, before it got damaged.

The Minor Basilica of San Sebastian (Filipino: Basilika Menor ng San Sebastian; Spanish: Basílica Menor de San Sebastián), better known as San Sebastian Church (Filipino: Simbahan ng San Sebastian) or San Sebastian Basilica, is a minor basilica of the Roman Catholic Church in Manila, Philippines. It is the church of the Parish of San Sebastian, and also a Shrine of Nuestra Senora del Monte Carmelo, or Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Completed in 1891, San Sebastian Church is noted for its architecture. An example of the Gothic Revival architecture in the Philippines, it is the only steel building church in the Philippines. It was designated as a National Historical Landmark in 1973 and as a National Cultural Treasure in 2011.San Sebastian Church is under the care of the Order of Augustinian Recollects, who also operate the San Sebastian College-Recoletos adjacent to the basilica. It is located at Plaza del Carmen, at the eastern end of Recto Avenue, in Quiapo, Manila.

Saint Rita College is a private Catholic Augustinian-Recollect basic and higher education institution run by the Order of Augustinian Recollects Sisters in the Philippines. It is situated in Plaza del Carmen, Quiapo, Manila, where the Motherhouse of the Beaterio de Terciarias Agustinas Recoletas, now Congregation of the Augustinian Recollect Sisters is located. It was founded in 1907 as "Escuela de Santa Rita", the first school of the Augustinian-Recollect Sisters which offered free education to Kindergarten girls, and special courses such as Spanish, Music, Painting and Embroidery. At present, it offers education from Elementary through College. Academic Programs are based on the Learning Standards of the Augustinian Recollect (LSAR)and the DepEd K-12 Curriculum. Courses offered in college include Bachelor in Elementary Education (BEED) and Bachelor in Secondary Education (BSED) major in English; and Bachelor of Arts major in English.

FEU Institute of Technology, also referred to as FEU Tech, is a private, non-sectarian, coeducational higher education institution in Sampaloc, Manila, Philippines. It offers courses in the fields of Engineering and Computer Studies. Established in 1992 as East Asia Computer Center, Inc.(EACCI), an educational partnership of Asia Pacific Computer Technology Center, Intelligent Wave Inc., and Far Eastern University. FEU Tech is an Institute of Technology. It is cited by the Commission on Higher Education as a Center of Development in IT Education (CoD).FEU Tech operates under the aegis of the Far Eastern University; it follows and is directly connected to the University. It is headed by Dr. Michael M. Alba as President and Dr. Benson T. Tan as Senior Executive Director. Like its sister schools, FEU Diliman and FEU Alabang, the college runs on a trimester academic system. An academic year starts in the second week of August and ends every June.

The Mendiola massacre was an incident that took place in Mendiola Street, San Miguel, Manila, Philippines on January 22, 1987, in which state security forces under President Corazon Aquino violently dispersed a farmers' march to Malacañang Palace in protest for the lack of government action on land reform. Calls for just and comprehensive land reforms to President Aquino were unheeded. The turbulent turn of events sparked rallies and demonstrations taken part by farmers, workers, and students protesting the injustice. According to reports of survivors, riot personnel disguised as civilians opened fire on unarmed protesters killing at least 12 and injuring 51 protesters.

Legarda station is an elevated Manila Light Rail Transit (LRT) station situated on Line 2. The station is located in Sampaloc in Manila and is named after Legarda Street, where the station sits above it. The street in turn is named after Benito Legarda, a Filipino legislator.The station is the second station for trains headed to Antipolo and the twelfth station for trains headed to Recto.
